Reviews for Azul Beach Resort Riviera Cancun

Heartbreakingly Disappointingly AWFUL.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

Like all REAL reviews, I’m not coming with anything positive to say! 1st - everyone needs to make sure they know that businesses will have friends and family make fake good reviews to boost their rating, and try to bury the bad reviews… the 5/5 you see, are not real because there isn’t a real person who would have a good thing to say. 2nd - I don’t often do reviews, especially ones like this, but this was the WORST resort I’ve been to in my life and we come to Mexico twice a year, for the last 20yrs. I’ve never had a bad experience, or a bad thing to say in all that time - until now. 3rd - WHO GIVES RESORTS THEIR STATUS?! Because for this to be listed as a freaking 5 Star resort, is either on drugs or has dementia…. 2 Star at its very best, but even a long shot to get to that. No beach. The website has a Q&A area and one is: is there a beach, and the answer is: every Azul resort has sandy white beaches… HAHAHAHA. There was possibly 1ft of sand, filled with crap, and every supposed beach bed was broken down. No entertainment. I have never been to a resort in my life that didn’t have ANY entertainment. Not during the day at the pool, no evening shows, nothing in the lobby - if you’re not at the pool, you have NOTHING TO DO. Every resort I’ve been to, will put together things when it rains in the lobby… HAHAHAHA! Sit in your room and hope you have tv to watch or brought some games. The food. I don’t even know where to begin. It basically was nonexistent. Out of 7 restaurants, 2 opened for dinner… one night only 1 opened (despite the app showing 2) for the WHOLE RESORT. The dinner buffet never opened, so better hope you like your only option they give…. How incredibly crappy to present like we have all these options when we don’t. The manager. When my travel agent submitted a transfer request to switch to a different resort (YES, it was that bad we were going to move) and the manager at our resort got it, she said that she hadn’t received any complaints from me so she didn’t understand why I would want to move… why would I complain when you can see everyone is complaining and nothing is changing? I’m not risking the treatment we could receive when we still had days left - which is why this review needs to be done. Just the biggest false advertising I’ve ever experienced. Y’all should be ashamed that you openly lie and deceive your guests. The only two positive things to say of the resort - the bar and restaurant staff were absolutely stellar! What an amazing group of people doing their best at a horrible place. And the rooms were nice.

Mauricio was an ANGEL

My mother and I have traveled to many different places but none of them have what this resort had to offer. My mother decided she wanted to spend her birthday in Mexico so we booked our stay not knowing the phenomenal week that lay ahead of us! In our first night we went to Zocalo the Mexican food restaurant that is offered to the guests on the resort and we met the most charismatic welcoming individual you would ever know. He was so professional, kind, and pulled out every single stop that he could to fulfill our each and every desire during our stay at the Azul Resort. I would go back just to spend time with him again and enjoy the beautiful scenery that Mexico has to offer! Thank you to Azul for making the smiles, memories, and friendships acquired along the way possible!! I am forever grateful and know that we will be back soon!

Gourmet food experience!

Food was amazing and the waiters in the restaurants were incredible. Special mention to Javier in Spoon Restaurant and Luis in Zavaz Restaurant. They were so friendly and efficient! It was a family trip (3 generations) and we all loved it. Beautiful pools and just the right size resort to feel comfortable but still have lots to do. Highly recommend!

Disastrous experience

Tripadvisor review is fake and a wrong and misleading information! Every Agencies should involve and shut this hotel down. It has not the minimum requirements and eligibility of safety for the tourist!!!! There is no maintenance, every where is smelly and the rooms are moldy and smelly no one is caring and responsible. The shampoo was rotten. The ceiling of the restaurant leaked in to our food. The gym has no safety the treadmill is broken without safety. I slipped twice in the hotel as it was no safety sign. All the restaurants were closed! A quiet abounded place that you will get bored! No activities going around. Only people who don't no anything about an all inclusive hotel stay there. Other people notice it by entering the hotel and try to transfer to other hotels. They scammed everyone

Family Holiday

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

We had a lovely 10 day break. Pool and restaurant facilities were great. Our favourites were the Caribbean and the Mexican restaurants. Was inundated with Americans for weddings at weekends which limited access to some areas of the pool Thu-Sun. We had a problem with our aircon stopping working and leaking all over the floor of the room after a few days which was attended to quickly and we were upgraded to a prestige room. Which was much better, so much quieter and we couldn't believe the difference in the beds! We were looked after around the pool by the lovely Blanca who really made our holiday one to remember. She was so friendly and really went out of her way to help us. My only criticism would be the reception, I had to go a couple of times as our flight was cancelled and we had to sort out an extension to the room. Each time I waited an age to be served. Even though there were staff behind reception they ignored the queue and carried on with whatever they were doing on their computer, quite frustrating when you're stood waiting for half an hour plus. I believe the hotel has now been sold by Karisma so maybe this was a result of resource levels and the hotel being sold.
