A mixed stay. The pool and beach were great. You do need to go out pretty early to reserve chairs and then occupy them before 11am or they remove items. That was fine for us being early risers but others won’t like getting up so early. The breakfast was always good, lunch at the burger bar or off the pool menu or at the crepe stand was also very good, but the dinner food was not good as the food usually came cold or lukewarm. Service was generally not as good as we were expecting. I know it is a busy time but it was often a long wait at the pool to find a server and at dinner we often had to wave someone down to order more drinks. They were friendly but maybe just understaffed during a busy time. I will call out Omar at Andrea Restaurant as he was always super friendly even if he was not serving our table. The one bedroom suite was great except the design of the hotel is such that you can’t really see the ocean as you look across the pools and gardens to the other building. The grounds and gardens are lovely. The lighting in the exterior halls and stairways is non existent and quite unsafe when going out before sunrise. New Years was approx. $150 extra charge per person but it was a fun night. The food and band were just ‘ok’ but the fireworks were great (you don’t need to pay to attend the event if you just want to see these). Overall we had a nice trip but the dinners were a drawback.

Had a nice time on a family trip to Velas Vallarta during New Years. The pros were that the service was excellent - shout out to Hugo who was amazing! The drinks were really good, using all top notch brands. The resort itself was clean and the pool was huge as well. The cons are that the food was all very average, nothing tasted super great. There was no jacuzzi here and the rooms were a little old, however they were still clean and very spacious. They also did not include the New Years celebration in the all inclusive price which I thought was fairly ridiculous because all other hotel activities were cancelled that night. Overall we had a great time for a family vacation, but I wouldn’t come back here mostly because of the food.

Food was ok not many options. No true buffet. Need more than 2 restaurants. Service was not friendly. Antonio and Morgan were wonderful. We knew going in it wasn't going to be like our stay at grand velas, but expected more from a resort with velas in the name

Warm and friendly staff. Very well kept and clean grounds even on Busy days. The food in Andreas was a notch above. Located on the beach for a perfect vacation. We were fortunate enough to watch a whale right from the 9th floor balcony. Nightly entertainment in the lobby was fun.

My wife and I have just completed the sixth stay we won in a Luxury Link auction. We have been totally pleased with all of our LL purchases and this one at the Velas Vallarta in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico was no exception. We are grateful to the Velas people for all their personal attention and the high quality of their facility; the food was exceptional.
