The Paradisus Grand Cana is a beautiful resort, with great staff and amenities for family. Booked Family Concierge Master Suite Swim up and it was spacious and well decorated for my family(myself, wife and daughter 6). No issues with House Keeping, Mini Bar and Room Service. Our Concierge Leonardo went over and above to make sure my wife had a great birthday with decorations in the room and a cake. The entire staff at Family Concierge from Day 1 were amazing Juny who checked us in, Kenia who gave us a tour. Pilar also made herself available if Leonardo was finished for the day. Giordana was also amazing leading the Family Concierge Team and it shows in the pride of the staff. We ate all the Al A Cartes except Machu for dinner. Leonardo the Conciege made us reservations every day with a time that always worked for our family. Abraham at the Orgien buffet would always greet you with a smile and make sure everyone was taken care of. We enjoyed every meal we had no complaints. We did the Circle Membership presentation which was great learning experience but due to exchange rate between USD and CAD did not make sense at this time. The main Lobby Bar Nest/Nube Elsa, Hector and Carmen were a great team. At the Main Pool Jackson would make sure we were taken care of. The beach was gorgeous very light to no seaweed Calm waters and always able to get a seat. Spa Evelyn gave the best massage. I Would recommend anyone to go as well as the Family Concierge option if in the budget as they are there to help you as much as possible. We are hoping to book again next year.

Amazing all inclusive, friendly and responsive staff, great place with kids! The family concierge was fantastic - Yerfy and Denia. Rooms were huge, clean, and provided so much space for our family to relax and sleep. Pool options varied from a water lake for the kids to swim up bar at the lager pool. Highly recommended, would love to come again!

This resort/trip could have been a 5. The swim up rooms are awesome - modern, huge, clean and well maintained. And the service was very good from most everyone - the maid, the guy who stocked our fridge, bartenders, most wait staff, and our concierge Raul was wonderful. We went to this resort at the recommendation of friends who had stayed last year. It was for my for my 50th birthday so we increased our annual winter vacation budget. Rating this resort a 2 because it was a huge disappointment that 1/2 the restaurants and amenities advertised were closed to us - the main buffet, the sports/burger bar and the beach restaurant (and 1 of the ala carte dinner restaurants was turned into a small substitute buffet). The resort was hosting a large group for Yashiva Week and turned most of the kitchens Kosher. It’s RIDICULOUS that the resort didn’t notify “other guests” of this large group before booking, or at least before arrival, and offered a large discount, a chance to move to a sister resort, or a chance to change dates. We paid full price for 1/2 the amenities we thought we were getting. For the “other guests,” in place of the big buffet you expect at an all inclusive resort, they made a small buffet on the outside of the main one, taking over the pool restaurant that I believe is usually one of the ala carte restaurants for dinner. Being outside, everything was gross, soggy and not food safe from being exposed to the elements (humidity, sun, rain) all day. At breakfast, even the cereal was soggy and inedible from sitting out in the humidity/rain. And 3 of 7 evenings we were there, it was raining over dinner time so guests had to stand in the rain to get their soggy, wet, cold food from chaffing dishes set along the side of the outdoor substitute buffet restaurant. Further, every afternoon, the side of the buffet that had the drinks, smoothies and yogurt and meat/seafood was in the direct sun. Both of my sons, on different nights, got food poisoning (violently puking and diarrhea for about 3 hours in the middle of the night) from food/drinks that we pinned to coming from this area. Next, the beach restaurant was closed to the “regular guests” as well. As a substitute to this, they set up a really little food truck that hardly ever had anyone in it. There were about 5 things on the menu and they were always out of 1/2 of them. When we did order a cheeseburger one day, it was really gross - a burger patty from a silver tin that had been sitting un-refrigerated for god knows how long with cheese sauce poured over it for the cheese. I told my son not to eat it for fear of more food poisoning. It was a 5-10 minute golf cart ride to the beach (which was fine and we knew about going in), but made it a huge hassle/unrealistic to have to head up to the main resort for lunch. Not okay when going on a beach vacation that touts a nice beach restaurant. Finally, the sports/burger bar and restaurant was closed to us. I’m confident that had it been open, we would have eaten most meals there. Also, my family likes to play pool, so that would have been a fun option to get out of the sun. This food situation ruined our vacation. My kids really look forward to the big buffet at all inclusive resorts and we felt horrible that they hardly had any food options they liked. My picky 9 year old literally only ate donuts or bread/dinner rolls for a week! And 2 nights of a sick kid really sucked, too. Overall, the steak and hibachi restaurants, burgers made to order at the waterpark, and room service were really the only edible options. Never in my life have I gone on vacation and room service provided some of the best food! We don’t go on vacation to eat our meals in our room. Finally, and I know this isn’t really the resort’s fault, but many people in this large group were incredibly rude and entitled. They came into spaces and just completely took over without any regard to others. They broke all the resort pool toys and outdoor chess set, left their garbage, dirty towels and dishes everywhere, plowed people over to get to the bar or on the beach golf cart, blatantly stole our beach toys at the beach, and spoke horribly to the staff and other guests. Yes, there’s rude people everywhere but this was another level! This was such a bummer of a trip! Unless the resort wants to give us a huge discount to give them another shot at providing us the vacation their Website promised, we won’t be back.

This is the only review you need to read. We booked this vacation for a week in January after reading a ton of great reviews. Sure enough, bad reviews started trickling in and we got nervous. I just wanted to address some of the negative reviews below. First of all, the food is amazing. Whether it’s the buffet, or the restaurants that require reservations, the food is outstanding. Nothing lacks flavour, salt is used, and service is top notch. Yes, you book reservations on Sunday morning at 9am for the entire week, so if you arrived on a Thursday for example, and you wanted to book reservations for Friday and Saturday night, you may not have the best time slots available because everyone has already booked. Regardless, you make it work and the food is amazing. Don’t know why people feel the need to complain about everything. Someone posted a picture of raw bacon below, this is definitely not the case. Bacon was actually very crispy and never disappointed. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the buffet is excellent. I will post pictures. Steakhouse is amazing, teppanyaki restaurant is also great. Rooms are exactly as advertised, huge and spacious. Comfortable and clean. They try to upgrade you to the swim out suites upon arrival and wanted 1,500 USD for the week. I negotiated down to $900 but still decided not to. Our regular room was more than fine and we have zero complaints. Fridge stocked daily included milk if you have a young child. 24 hr room service as well. We ordered nachos for the football game and they were amazing. Pool and grounds are also excellent and well maintained. Theres cabana space for everyone by the pools. Beach is a 2 second golf cart ride down the street and runs all day back and forth. Kids park is also amazing and has a restaurant as well. Not as much selection here but it’s also a quieter area. I dont think we could ever go back to a Riu or anything again after experiencing what we did here. People will find any little thing to complain about and post about it. This place is top shelf… you will not be disappointed.

We didn’t arrive until 3 am our first day. Not the hotels fault but I do not recommend late night arrival. We missed a whole day so we only get 6 days here. There is a lot of scents being used in the spa area and lobby. I don’t tolerate scents well. I checked out the gym and it smelled strongly of perfume and I got an immediate migraine. I was hoping to use the gym but I will be unable to. I would suggest using more natural scents such as essential oils or vinegar for cleaning. My room was safe until now. Yesterday they cleaned with bleach which was fine as the scent quickly dissipated. Today they cleaned with a horrible perfume scent. I walked in and the migraine and breathing difficulties began. I have told guest services and they said they will fix the room but they were unable to. They then moved me to another room which smelled like second hand smoke. I’m hopeful the third room will be the winner but I’m feeling frustrated. Breakfast buffet was outside due to private event. The service was horrible. No cutlery , no drinks, no coffee and no service. You had to order your eggs and they just never came. I hope it’s better once we get into the main buffet. Breakfast has been completely unsuccessful thus far. It’s difficult to book a la cartes which is frustrating. You have to wait in line and there’s only a certain time they are open (9-4 pm). We got in line around 9 and there were only about 8 in front of us and it’s taking well over an hour. There was nothing for any time besides 9:30 pm. It would be preferable if there was an app where you could just book your own. It’s a waste of time. When I asked the front desk if there’s an easier way they only offered to help us if we upgraded and paid more. They seem to hold off on the conveniences until you upgrade which I find disappointing. The buffet for supper on our first night was quite small. You can find something to eat but nothing to write home about. I’d want to book as many a la cartes are you can. The steak house was good one time and not the next so consistency is lacking. There isn’t much entertainment. They do not have shows at night. They have lots of activities and entertainment for children. The communication was horrible. There were very few people who could understand English. I have been struggling for service in English. You have wrist bands to open your room Instead of cards that get deactivated by your phone. This is great. You don’t need to remember your card. I appreciate this feature. I would not recommend. I’ve tried several resorts in punta Cana. Catalonia still is number one for me.
