Reviews for Jumby Bay Island

Incredible resort, staff, and island!

Incredible! Every aspect of the trip was wonderful. We stayed for a week right before Christmas. The beach is beautiful, the food is delicious, and there were so many incredible activities that our children (age 3 1/2 and 1) loved. The staff was incredible. We accidentally crashed a staff event, and our daughter requested the band to play Purple Rain and they did and all of the staff joined in in dancing and clapping and were so welcoming. Highly recommend for anything from a couples retreat/honeymoon to family of young kids (like ours) or older children given the breadth of activities available. We definitely hope to come back!

Beautiful Resort, but it ends there! This is the place for you if you would like to spend$$$$ for not much in value for your ROI😉 Front office staff is lovely bar the most senior manager who has short hair and was incredibly condescending towards me after I asked for a full refund just before dinner on day two of our stay… and I was in tears. -If you would like to have bird droppings in your outdoor bathtub and shower area, and on your terrace then JB if for you! -If you would like blue bottle caps in your entrance and terrace areas upon arrival then JB is for you! -If you would like to have many Blackbirds landing on your table and food for every breakfast at the only breakfast restaurant on property then JB is for you! -If you want to have literally NO Beach service for the first two days of your stay then JB is for you! We only had the most disingenuous service starting day three…after complaining?? -If you think it’s ok for employees to not say thank you for a tip given to them in hand personalized stationery then JB is for you! -If you would like to go to the worst West Indies buffet where the food is subpar and the band takes a break during a very short meal time period then JB is for you! -If you don’t mind listening to other guests’ music at the adult pool and having their children allowed to swim at the adult pool then JB is for you! -If you would like to complain to the property manager about your stay you may get a night’s compensation but she will only do so after AMEX was involved…so if you would like to experience “that” then JB is for you! Big time for you!

Overrated and disappointing!

I hate writing reviews but after spending a fortune on this trip I feel obligated to do so in this instance. The food was certainly not of the greatest quality at least not what you would expect from an exclusive resort. The servers were friendly enough but seemed overworked and tired. The gift shop was overly priced and it felt like we were being exploited because we're rich. The gym was too small and there were no towels or water. Sauna was extremely filthy and moldy. The spa is a joke. The massage therapist appeared to have been stoned and spaced out. One of the receptionist's appearance and behavior was appalling. She was very unkempt with dried sandman in the corner of her eyes and some were even on her greasy cheek. I witnessed her shamelessly flirting with a male guest while I was getting my hair done. Poor fella was very uncomfortable and it also made me cringe. It felt like it was a pick up bar. Not to mention her trying to push products on me. It was so obvious she was trying to make a commission. The resort itself is very beautiful but the service was not worth the price tag.

Jumby Bay Island in Antigua offers an effortless escape from New York. The journey includes a 3-hour, 20-minute flight, a brief 4-minute drive, and a short 7-minute boat ride. From the plane to the resort, we arrived in about 30 minutes, thanks to their seamless fast-track immigration and luggage handling service. Jumby Bay spans 300 acres and features about 40 suites, 20 villas, and several private residences, making it an exclusive, tranquil destination for discerning travelers. The island exudes luxury, with more staff than guests, ensuring every need is met. What sets Jumby Bay apart from other high-end resorts is the team. We have visited luxury destinations worldwide, but nowhere have we encountered staff as genuinely happy, caring, and enjoyable to be around. Their attention to detail and warm, can-do attitude elevated our experience, making it truly memorable. The Suite... We stayed in a Beachfront Suite with a Plunge Pool at $3,400 per night, including tax. Unfortunately, this was not the ideal choice. The plunge pool was a disappointment: tiny, shallow, stained, unlit, rough-textured, and, worst of all, unheated—rendering it unusable during our stay. The suite itself was comfortable, with spacious rooms, an excellent bathroom, and both indoor and outdoor showers. Outside, we had an umbrella, two lounge chairs, and two comfortable armchairs. However, when it rained, a roofed area over the lounge chairs would have made it easier to enjoy the outdoors. Our room was about 100 feet from the beach, but it didn’t offer direct private access. For that level of privacy, one of the villas or residences is necessary. The Beach and Sandbar Pool... The beach and pool areas had their highlights and drawbacks. The attendants were attentive and eager to ensure our comfort, and the lounge chairs, huts, and coolers with water were plentiful. The sea was calm, smooth, and breathtaking, with sunsets that were absolutely spectacular. However, the water was murky rather than crystal clear, which was unexpected and disappointing. The fixed, non-movable umbrellas (huts) created another issue. While aesthetically pleasing, they required us to constantly shift our lounge chairs to stay in the shade. During the last 90 minutes of daylight, shade was impossible, making regular, adjustable umbrellas a better option. The same problem extended to the Sandbar’s infinity-edge pool, which, although stunning, was difficult to enjoy due to the lack of flexible shading options. Fitness Room... The fitness room was excellent. It had all the equipment we needed, and the air conditioning worked perfectly. We didn’t visit the spa, so we can’t comment on that. Dining... The island has three restaurants, all served by the same talented culinary team. This was a standout part of our trip. With special dietary requirements, we had informed the resort in advance, and they went above and beyond to accommodate us. Chef Erick greeted us personally as we arrived, ensuring every meal met our needs. His care and attention rivaled that of a personal butler, (which is only provided at the suites and residences) and he was supported by equally wonderful chefs, Mario and Yousef. Dining here was truly exceptional, thanks to their efforts. Summary... The suites, though slightly dated, were comfortable—aside from the disappointing plunge pool. When we return, we’ll book a villa to enjoy a heated pool and private beach access, as the suite pools are unheated and unusable for us. Despite this, we’ll gladly come back for the ease of travel from New York, the clean and beautiful surroundings, the secure environment, and above all, the incredibly friendly and attentive staff who made our stay unforgettable.

Paradise by Noon

I just returned from Jumby Bay in Antigua (former Rosewood property, now owned by Oetker same parent company as Eden Rock in St. Barths and Hotel du Cap Eden Roc in France) celebrating my husband’s 40th birthday and it has been one of the best service experiences I’ve ever experienced. It’s on a private island, less than 10 minutes by a hotel provided boat from the airport (3.5 hour direct flight from JFK) where someone from the resort meets you at the airport and expedites the Customs and Immigration process. Everything is inclusive with multiple dining options and extremely high end I.e. Taittinger Champagne, all Casamigos varieties, rum/wine tastings, fitness classes, tennis clinics for both adults and children, water sports: water tubing, wakeboarding, waterskiing, snorkeling etc The property is ideal for all ages, the kids club is complimentary ages 3-11 (as long as potty trained) and offer babysitting services at an additional charge, they also have a playground. They have 3 pools, 1 being adults only. We were fortunate enough to be upgraded to a 2 bedroom suite with a plunge pool, they honestly think of everything as the doors leading to it are child proof (and if we’re being honest, Melissa proofed as well🤦🏼‍♀️🤣) Set on 300 lush acres with 40 suites, 14 villas and 21 residences to rent (Oprah, Justin Bieber, Robert DeNiro and Lionel Messi have all rented.) I truly can’t recommend the property enough.
