Hermitage Bay

Good things: service from front desk staff (Solange especially) is amazing. George at the pool is nice and cool as well. I can see they are passionate about the job. Room service is responsive. Food from dinner is on the higher end. The barbecue day is the highlight for our lunch. Complimentary activities is the highlight of the stay. The boat tour and snorkelling is the most memorable experience at hermitage bay. The beach and mountain is stunning. The bad: The restaurant stuff is sloppy at service. It looks like they are reluctant to provide Service. If you want more than one main course, they give you a weird look. No smile, no energy. The service took really long. It takes over 2 hours on each meal service. Restaurant stuff was the worst part of the stay. Mosquitos was an issue for the stay. Got dozens of bits during our stay. Everything at the hotel is open air, which means you are exposed to mosquitos while you eating. There are mosquitos in room as well. General menu for Lunch and breakfast is basic and limited for a high end property. The taste is only at acceptable level. The beach is rocky. May need a water-shoes. We stayed at ocean front suite. The design is basic. The toilet is a open area adjoining with the bedrooms. No glass door or divider. It literally like putting a toilet in the bedroom. No indoor shower. AC is not strong enough for the whole suite. Only covers the bed part.

We are thankful to have experienced many luxury resorts such as Waldorf Astoria Pedregal, Rosewood St. Barths and Conrad Maldives. Hermitage Bay ranks as high as any of those, in our opinion, and we will be making a return visit which we save for only the best. We celebrated our 22nd anniversary here, but it would be an ideal honeymoon spot. The views from the cliffside rooms are some of the best we’ve ever encountered, and the “all inclusive” is luxury all the way, while allowing you to mentally enjoy all of the food and beverage your heart desires. It is a postcard picture at every turn. Please go experience it!

If you are looking for a romantic get away to a luxury resort, welcome to Hermitage Bay! ARRIVAL: Airport - You will be greeted with a VIP meet and greet employee. Essentially, this employee provides assistance and expedites you through customs. From there, you will be whisked away by a private driver. (Depending on traffic, it will take approximately 30 minutes to drive from airport to resort.) Employee from Hermitage Bay will be greeting you with cold wash clothes and a virgin cocktail. Take the views in and relax after a long day of travel. Depending on your arrival time, you may be starving. Don’t worry, staff can prepare a great snack from the bar menu. Quick overview of resort from reception staff and then you can be taken to your suite. SUITES: This resort has a maximum occupancy of around 60 guest. Beach suites are situated close to pool and restaurant; four steps from the beach. If you want to splurge a little, I would recommend a hillside suite. Hillside suites are a good 5 minute walk from bar/restaurant. If walking is an issue; they do provide golf cart shuttle to and from. (You do not get your own golf cart.) The views are amazing and with your own pool. Large bedroom area with a separate room for dual sinks, toilet, and an oversized garden tub. The bedroom is the only area that has an A/C unit. Ceiling fan in bathroom but all it does is circulate warm air. Outdoor shower area is off the bathroom. (Plenty of privacy) Recommend bringing a small portable oscillating fan along with a white noise maker. Each room has wooden blinds that can be opened while the bedroom has slide out wooden door panels if you truly want to take in the views. In order to keep the temperature comfortable, we did not open the blinds or door panels. The frogs are no joke! Extremely loud with their nightly singing! While the instance is rare, we did have a scorpion in our bathroom sink. I took care of it, but I am confident staff would have resolved concerns if I made a request. DINING: I was concerned with only having one restaurant, but the staff provides ample variety. Menu changes every night for dinner. Breakfast and lunch changes slightly day-to-day. Amazing food! There is a limited kitchen staff preparing meals. There are 3 courses for dinner, so be prepared to enjoy the atmosphere for approximately 75 - 90 minutes. Cold scented wash clothes are provided for lunch but can be requested for dinner as well. Nightly musicians are amazing as well! STAFF: Overall, the staff will work tirelessly to ensure you have everything you need. Special shoutout to Anthony, Jesse, Jamie, and Simone. Jamie works in the dining area while the other three work in the bar area. You have got to meet these folks! Amazing people with wonderful attitudes! WATER SPORTS: While excursions are offered through a variety of businesses on the island. I would recommend you book any excursion through the resort. The water sports team provides kayaking, sailing, and paddle boarding. (The snorkeling off of the beach resort is quite solid.) They do provide an hour trip to a snorkel reef about 10 minutes from resort. Highly recommend! Also, the resort provides a complimentary boat ride to a few other areas around the island. (It is not a full tour, but it does provide insight to a few other beaches and resorts.) All of this is included within your stay. Be cautious if you book with companies not approved by resort. DEPARTURE: Make sure you are walking in to the airport at least 2 hours prior to your flight leaving. When we left, it was complete chaos. One flight was delayed because so many people had a difficult time getting through customs. (We had to go through 4 different lines to finally make it to the terminal gate.) Ownership changed a few months ago with this resort and will be closing for a few weeks, I believe starting in August. I have no doubt that the renovations will only add an extra layer of luxury. Many couples we spoke to our reoccurring guests with one couple coming back 15 years in a row!

My husband and I recently stayed at Hermitage Bay. We were amazed not only by the resort, but by the staff. They were so friendly, enthusiastic, accommodating and lovely, which made our stay even more memorable. We loved the exclusive feel of the resort. As my husband said, it is where “paradise meets exclusivity.” The food was great. Our suite was spacious. I enjoyed taking baths in the deep soaking tub and showers outdoors. During our first dinner they surprised us with table arrangements, sweets they brought out along with a note and a photo as they knew we were celebrating our 10th Anniversary. We really appreciated this special touch. They know how to make you feel welcomed and special here! We enjoyed going out on the boat ride and snorkel they offer.
