If there were 0 stars available, we would have chosen that rating. Bear with us if you do not want to have this particular bad experience. It appears the bad reviews have been removed from the Kore Tulum website and ours will no doubt disappear as well. We have travelled to 33 countries in 40 years and the Kore Tulum stands out as the worst property we have ever visited. We travel with a sense of humor and an open mind, but this one took the cake. It was touted by Sunwing (Westjet) as a special offer of only $4648.00 US per couple rather than over $9400.00 US - the usual price. Sunwing indicated we would have a "luxury garden view", all inclusive, "international a la carte cuisine" and entertainment. It had NONE of that. When we arrived at 10:00 p.m. there was no food and not even a cup of coffee available. (There was ONE cup in our room, so I guess we could have made one cup). The room was fine (and the cleaning staff were good, working within the limitations they had with towels with shredded edges and old style sheets that slid around the bed). We took towels off the laundry carts when available. We went to the phone the day after arrival to indicate the TV wasn't working, only to find the telephone didn't work either. And our "luxury garden view" from our ground floor patio was a dump area for old equipment, bottles, cardboard and when the decrepit fence around it fell down on the second night- a multitude of other junk was exposed. Nice view. We managed to maintain our sense of humor HOWEVER, of the 30 meals we consumed in the 5 days...only 2 were edible. That was the end of our sense of humor. One day we would order a fried egg HARD, and we would emphasis HARD and knock on the table, with "Mexican pastries" (which are little hard buns). And one day we got that. The next time we got 2 eggs running all over the plate with a blob of quacamole and 2 taco chips stuck in it. The "beef filet" was skirt steak or flank steak- inedible. The "international" dish of fettucine alfredo was loaded with curry, or some Mexican spice like curry - Inedible. The "pancakes and syrup" were edible but they HAVE no "syrup" and no concept of what it is. The "hamburgers” are a strange kind of mushy meatloaf - edible but awful. Of the dishes offered each day (which were few except for “Mexican Night”) at least 3 a day the waiter would point out that they "no have". We could go on about the food- but won't. 3 of the 6 hotel towers were decrepit with broken windows taped, and there were holes in almost every roof of the 6 towers. There is NO entertainment unless you count some of the waiters singing. 2 of the 5 days there was metal cutting on metal in the dump "view area" of our deck. It was deafening and went from 10 am to 5 pm. We counted approximately 40 people there that week and almost as many employees. You do the math. This place can't possibly be profitable in our opinion. The mystery is how it is still in business with Sunwing still promoting it. We blame Sunwing for not checking/verifying the property and continuing the charade with what we consider to be misleading advertising. The result? We will not return to Mexico or book another trip with Sunwing/Westjet.

Management has destroyed a wonderful resort

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Kore Tulum We have stayed at Kore Tulum for 10 out of the past 13 years. This year the overall mismanagement, lack of staff training, serious reduction in the quality and availability of food and services makes Kore Tulum no longer a desirable resort. We are not the only critics. We have talked to other guests (new and returners) who are equally appalled (and saddened) by what appears to be management’s decision to virtually abandon the hotel. We stayed in a wonderful suite each year. This year, unlike all earlier years, we had to wait 3 hours they said were needed to clean it. It usually takes 40 minutes for their most thorough cleaning. Some specifics: at many lunches there is no menu – just an offering of 3-4 things. The quality of the food available is poor. There are few services -- yoga, etc. that were originally provided) Overall, the staff are nice but many lack the training to provide the level of service expected for what we are paying. If there is a manager, we have never seen him or her; there is no indication of competent oversight -- no one to talk to about our concerns – with the exception of the very bright woman at the main desk. Some suggest the current manager is taking money off the top and I can believe this. We have loved Kore Tulum’s setting and are very sad to lose it as our annual December vacation. We very much hope that the owners and management decide to invest, hire excellent new management, train staff and maintain the facility so that all your guests return and enjoy Kore Tulum again. If not, close it down instead of offering guests something that is never delivered. Bye to what was a very good establishment in previous years. It will take a lot to fix up this place and win back all the customers lost this year. It is sad.

Awful food, stained sheets, no activities. Cold hot tubs. DO NOT STAY

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

Do NOT stay here!!!! My friend and I came and stayed here on a Groupon, super low price and we found out very quickly as to why. This may have been a really awesome place at some point but it is falling apart quite literally. The rooms have black mold, stained sheets, and for a day & a half, no running water. The staff was not the friendliest and they were understaffed for some of the time to the point where people were making their own drinks behind the only one pool bar. The liquor options are bottom shelf. There is only one restaurant and the food all tastes the same, like burnt freezer. Nasty! The breakfast was the only thing potable in my opinion as well as others around. Speaking of people, the place was DEAD. There’s no beach to lay out on or swim in. The sun beds were made up only one of the 5 days we were there. The rest, falling apart and unusable. The pool is nice and refreshing. The hot tubs aren’t hot at all. The pool and hot tub also closed at 7 according to one person and then they were open later the next day. Zero consistency with the staff responses. Everything on the website it states they have, they don’t. The spa packages come with use of the amenities inside the spa however the steam room wouldn’t turn on, the hot tub was ice cold and the sauna wasn’t up to temp. It rained for a day we were there and the roof in our balcony leaked, I mean POURED out into the already unusable jacuzzi that’s out there. I could literally go on forever about how awful the place was. Please spend a little more money, and go somewhere else after reading reviews.

Terrible Terrible Resort

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

This says it’s a 4 Star which it definitely is not maybe a 2 1/2. Ran out of toilet paper Daily. The restaurant is suppose to have breakfast buffet never happened. Couldn’t get half the food on the menu everyday. Air doesn’t work in half the rooms. The worst thing we witnessed was staff members having sex in the rooms not being used. The kitchen staff were ok, the lobby staff were rude and they lie to you. The rooms were never cleaned properly and no clean towels. Don’t go to this resort it’s a dump!!!!

Bad

I came for my birthday and I’m never going back. I had lizard and snail in my room and they sweep the snail left the lizard. So one employee checked the other room before we moved in n it’s was water everywhere on the floor. Third room wont clean so they moved us to the last room and it was ok until the morning n it wasnt NO WATER. They didn’t want us to talk to management so we moved to a different resort.. first time in Tulum and last time.

This is not only a fantastic deal but an incredible property! We were amazed at the beauty, luxury, cleanliness and quality of this property - especially given the package price that Luxury Link put together. We arrived to have our feet washed and massaged while indulging in champagne cocktails. Our room was right on the ocean with every amenity possible. Our private butler made sure our in-room iPod had the right selection of songs we preferred, our wireless internet access worked perfectly, and we chose and received the right soap fragrance, aromatherapy scent and pillow type. We had an outdoor jetted tub that would be filled in the evening with candles and flower petals leading the way, chilled wine or champagne along with decadent chocolate dessert offerings delivered each night. This package came with spa inclusions and we were apparently VIPs because of our purchase through Luxury Link - they gave each of us extra special treatments! The spa facility was 5-star. They offered us various menus when dining and would even honor any special request. They couldn't be happier to assist you in any way. Plan on an incredible vacation! We are definitely going back!

We just returned from our third stay in as many years and it will now be a trip at least every six months. The rooms are beautiful, as is everything else. The service is so good that I can't come with a word for it. Within a day they know your name, likes and dislikes and even cocktail of choice. Our room was spotless, the service was immediate, the spa is to die for and this is from someone whom has traveled extensively. This is a small resort and perfect for sunning, snacking, exercising and recharging your batteries. I am looking for the next Luxury Link, so get ready for competition!
