Reviews for El Dorado Royale by Karisma

Not what we are use to..will not return the any of the El Dorado Resorts

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

Let me start off saying the resort is very pretty and tropical, the employees are kind and help full, that being said I will not return for several reasons. The beach is basically nonexistent, the hurricanes have washed most of the sand away and there are concrete blocks up to where the beach should of been , so the scenery isn't that of a beautiful view of blue waves. They have reservations for the nice restaurant that have to be made as soon as you arrive. ( who can plan a week of dining right on the arrival spot). We were there for Christmas and New Year Eve, they charge extra for seats and tables at the main event site. The maid service is lacking on supplying everything in the room, we had a few issues getting towels and wash cloths, but overall the service was pretty good. We were not very happy that the pools all close at 6, yes that's right Party Over!. Why Why Why would you shut down the pool and bars at 6 freaking o'clock.

Great trip

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

Our stay at El Dorado Royale was exceptional from start to finish. Check-In Experience: The check-in process was fast and seamless. The staff welcomed us warmly and provided all the information we needed to get settled in comfortably. Room and Amenities: We stayed in a junior suite in building 12. While the resort is in the process of renovating its lodgings, our building had not yet been updated. That said, the room was very clean, well-maintained, and stocked with all the essentials—towels, minibar, shampoo, and body gel. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the back garden added a beautiful touch of tranquility. We did encounter a couple of minor issues during our stay: the safe wasn’t working upon check-in, but it was fixed in less than 10 minutes after we called. Later in the week, we had a problem with the air conditioning, which was repaired within 30 minutes. The quick and efficient client service was truly impressive! Dining Experience: The food was undoubtedly a highlight of our trip. Every à la carte dinner was absolutely amazing! The Fuentes experience is highly recommended for anyone visiting. The service staff were professional, friendly, and attentive throughout our dining experiences. Facilities and Activities: The resort's facilities and activities were impressive. The pools were excellent, each offering a unique vibe. The main pool was lively and perfect for those looking for a more social atmosphere. However, a downside was the additional costs for certain experiences, such as Bali beds and New Year’s Eve events, which seemed substantial relative to their value. Service and Staff: The staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable stay. Special thanks to Victor and Lu from the restaurants and Juan at the main pool for their outstanding service! Atmosphere: This resort is massive, offering a range of atmospheres to suit any mood. Whether you're seeking relaxation or a lively vibe, there’s a spot for you. Overall: El Dorado Royale exceeded our expectations, and we would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a luxurious and memorable getaway.

A 4 star, not 5

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

A solid 4 Star. I'm just back from spending a week at El Dorado. First off, I've stayed at dozens of All Inclusive's so I have a fairly educated opinion. Arrival and check in was simple. The property is quite vast, not great for those with mobility issues. We found the wait for the carts acceptable. Nice afternoon crafts at the main pool. Bar drinks were very inconsistent in their making. Food was our biggest issue. The reservation system is not efficient. It was a complaint among most at the resort. Us being a party of 4 would show no availability on their app at any restaurants most of the nights. Our concierge would not help, not even sure why they are there but that's another issue. We ended up just walking in to every place. All the food looked great and was presented well, however, the majority had little flavor. They have to cater to the masses. Even their Mexican food was toned down from what we get in local towns. What they did have was just basic Mexican taco type dishes. 98% of the staff was amazing. 2% can ruin your day. The rooms were showing their age with obvious signs of wear. Out toilet room was horrible, rusty hinges, toilet not fastened down. The More Inclusive addition is nice, the beach is an absolute must do. We had the morning catamaran trip followed by an amazing BBQ on Christmas Eve. Overall a solid 4 but should be better for the money. There are better 4 Star resorts for less money but we want the best and expected such.

The worst resort, with the worst service, and worst food

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

1. It started the first day we arrived with the check in process. We arrived after a long day of international travel (Like 4:30 AM wake up) and there were 3 people behind the counter, but only one taking care of customers. We waited for almost an hour in the nearly empty lobby. Why is check-in so complicated and time consuming? Why do we (Seniors with knee surgery) have to stand in line to check in after a long travel day? 2. How could they give us a room on the second floor and refuse to provide one on the main floor even after our request that we cannot climb stairs because of surgeries? At 8:45 pm we were given a map but no explanation as to where things are and where can we eat? The printed resort maps they provide are nearly impossible to read. By the time luggage arrived and we got the room, It was close to 9:30 pm. 3. We called the desk about the restaurant and we were told they were closing at 9 and some are closing at 10 pm. But they all needed reservation in advance. Finally, at 10:30 pm because of the long day we decided to sleep without having dinner as the room service takes over 2 hours. 4. As for vegetarians, breakfasts were ok, but lunches left us with very limited choices – not even a vegetarian soup? What a mess!!! Even meat eaters were complaining about the variety of foods and portion sizes. Evenings had the same reservations issues, timing, limited variety of food choices and portion sizes. The menu at each restaurant and for room service is incredibly limited. They should convert one of the restaurants into an international buffet restaurant where customers can have breakfast, lunch and dinner without any limitations or reservations issues or restrictions on hours. Many four star places have 24 hour snacks where latecomers can have something to eat without retiring for the night on empty stomach. 5. Worst service in Mexico. The transportation services (golf carts) are very slow or non existent when you need it. I don't normally put in my reviews but when a resort is this bad, I have to. No one picks you up for dinner or any other wedding events on time with every place very far away from the rooms. Food is terrible for a 5 star expensive resort. 6. The water at the beach is brown in front of the resort because of this. It’s disgusting and un-swimmable. There were also Jelly Fish plus the old concrete structures had lots of seaweeds trapped. 7. I opened the balcony and the wooden chairs were so uncomfortable that I could not sit there for more than 2 minutes. Shower head in shower which wouldn't stay up at top of holder. 8. This place makes a ton of money off hosting weddings. In those cases, people stay at the property to attend the wedding, so the staff have zero incentive to offer good service and it really shows. 9. Exorbitant Prices: The all-inclusive should be removed from the description. People come to enjoy their stay, enjoy food and drinks, entertainment and other activities that you won’t find here. 10.They simply do not know how to serve people who want something above a 1-star level of service. 11.I would never come here again. When you think of "all inclusive" you already know you're getting something low end, but this is the lowest of the low. It's not worth it. Do not come here. It's the worst resort, with the worst service, and worst food I could ever imagine. 12.The resort definitely has potential but they need to make some serious changes to their management structure.

Dec 10-15 or so...tennis/volleyball/hiking/bike tour/fuentes/kempai/smoothies/and a bunch of fun activities...July/Rosa/Daniel (entertainment); Landy/or Lindy -hostess at italian (helped me with my iphone charger!)...fuentes maha/and chef were great...as was pablo/guitarist...all of the food and service was great/indian & italian restaurant/once again kempai and it's sushi/and the weather was great also...too many other staff to name...3rd time there...fun. (only slight negatives - could use more towels in room/and jacuzzi could be a bit hotter/and more cokes in fridge without having to ask/would also be nice to have an ice cream option somewhere to grab a sweet snack ocassionally)
