My sister and I booked a very spontaneous trip here on the day our trip to the UK was cancelled due to the Heathrow fire. We'd read the article about Playa Viva in the NYT and decided to shift our plans, last minute without giving ourselves a chance to hesitate, from Europe to Mexico. What a contrast! I feel as though our reroute to Mexico was meant to be, because the trip to Playa Viva was absolutely enchanting. We met several people there who were repeat visitors, and we will also be repeat visitors! The resort has absolutely everything you need to stay comfortable and immerse yourself in the beach wilderness. The sounds of the crashing waves at all hours, the absolute warmth and generosity of the hosts, the incredible food...it will sweep you away. We spent a lot of time walking the beach, reading, birdwatching, and engaging in discussions with the staff, including Marine Biologists at the turtle sanctuary. The regenerative mission to nurture the "edge effect" created by resort ecosystems meeting local and natural ecosystems rang true. Bravo. We came prepared with clothing for heat and humidity, sun protection and nighttime bugs - we are from Northern NY where the deer flies will carry you away - the mosquitos and noseeums were hardly an issue with some bugspray and good clothing. If you've spent anytime outdoors relaxing, you'll be fine with usual preparations. Everything is open air, with the feel of a luxurious treehouse. The grounds and gardens are meticulously maintained without choking out the natural vegetation. The amenities are ideal for mindful time in respite, and I can see why so many people come to Playa Viva as a retreat destination. The staff make arrival and departure extremely smooth, and will coordinate to help get you to and from the airport. It's with my strongest regards that I recommend Playa Viva. If you are considering it, don't hesitate.

Incredible one of a kind experience! I can’t recommend it enough. The food, unique accommodations, staff and magical space. We saw whales daily, turtles, the food is AMAZING! The stars at night, the bonfire on the beach. Yoga and so much more! Go :)

We go to Playa Viva for lunch and dinner several times a year. We always make it a point to dine at Playa Viva because the food is some of the best on the beach in Mexico. Fresh locally grown and raised by the staff and the chef knows exactly how to bring out the best. Playa Viva is a magical one of a kind place. We went for New Years Eve dinner (fully booked) and lunch a couple days later after most of the guests had left.

We loved Playa Viva. Highlights: really great yoga, walking on the beach, incredible design on the rooms, food made with love, ginger mezcalita. This place draws in incredible people - which includes other guests and staff. We would love to return!

I don’t usually complain on the spot , because I don’t want to create any problems to people that work and make their best, but I rather observe and then give my personal feedback afterwards. The place has a general good vibes and the projects which they are involved in are very admirable, even if I reckon all is not how they present it, however overall it’s a good and impressive idea. For me and my partner, the real big problem was the food poisoning, which I am still recovering from, due to the terrible hygiene of the kitchen in general, during my stay there were a lot of people and guests accusing of vomiting and not feeling well in the stomach. It’s not the water ( as told ), which I paid attention to, during my stay, but the biggest problem was the food which is not well preserved in such a heat weather. I recommend that more attention should be paid. I definitely believe in organic and sustainable food as well as good hygiene, which would be much appreciated for a luxury eco resort as yours. The rest is ok. Hope this will help for future guests and we wish you to continue with the original idea not contaminated by the money focus. Thanks
