In a tranquil corner of northern Bali,The Damai exudes a soft-spoken grace that mirrors the beauty of the region. This divine sanctuary is oeLovina(TM)s most elegant, intimate, and relaxed,” raves Fodor(TM)s. Each of its eight bungalows is tastefully adorned with antiques and beautiful textiles that recreate ancient Indonesian patterns. Nature is essential to the property, from the bungalows(TM) private open-air baths and the spa pavilion overlooking a neighboring rice paddy to the al fresco restaurant serving organic produce grown right on the grounds.

First of all, we would like to mention that this is a beautiful and well-maintained resort on the hill above Lovina, which offers a beautiful view to the sea. The staff were also friendly and helpful throughout, but unfortunately that was all the positive points to mention, because the hotel management itself managed to spoil all our expectations and good vacation mood within the first 30 minutes. Based on the the reviews, we explicitly booked a pool villa with 143m2 via Agoda and paid for it, but on arrival we were downgraded in a much smaller pool studio with significantly worse facilities and views; with the reason that their agency had only confirmed a studio. So we intervened immediately and showed them the original booking confirmations, as well as the corresponding invoices which we had paid already months in advance. When we asked them not to carry out booking failures on the back of the customers, but to clarify such matters with their responsible agency and provide us with an appropriate villa; we were able to move into a villa in the evening, During our entire stay, however, we couldn't shake off the feeling that the hotel management is only interested in trying to rip guests off with overpriced prices and services. And that's what happened when we checked out: We were charged for an unjustified upgrade from studio to villa on our bill. In the meantime, we had lost our appetite for the breakfast we already had paid for, so we just wanted to get away from this place. This kind of behavior is an absolute shame for the management of a called 5-star resort. But the management should become happy with the extra ripped off money... The Karma will sort it out!

Arrived at the hotel on November 13 for a one night stay and was greeted with friendly staff and was registered and excorted up to have an after breakfast coffee and fresh baked pastries. When my room was ready I was escorted to it and shown the features. I took advantage of the welcome spa massage and liked it so much that I went back later for a full 1 hour one. I enjoyed walking around the well landscaped grounds and photographed some of the wildlife. My Dinner by the pool at night was very special. My hostess was a friend, that I had met at another restarant in town a few years earlier, and now works at Damai. The meal was very good and service was excellent. The next morning my breakfast was up in the restaurant and overlooking the Lovina area. The homemade breads and pastries along with the jams, gave one a very good start to the day. The whole time from the arrival, until the check out I met Ms Eka, the resident manager. She was very friendly and helpful at making sure that I was being looked after and making sure I was enjoying my stay. I was sorry that I only stayed the one night and the next time I will stay longer.

Worst supervisor Eka. Smiles at everything you say. She says she understand and listens to you, thats What you would Think. But at the end she’s like “sorryyyyy we cannot do that, but please give us your money” if you tell her that the Sun is shining in the night she would agree and tell you yes.

We stayed at The Damai for 3 nights and our stay was fantastic! The service was on another level. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly and gave us so many good recommendations. they organizing a dolphin tour, a waterfall tour, and a clove plantation tour for us. Spa massage was the best I’ve ever had and the food in the restaurant is amazing! It was also beautiful to see the Balinese culture by experiencing the full moon ceremony. This was so much more for us than just a hotel stay, it was a amazing experience with excellent service, relaxation, and some culture!
