Run away!

Don't bother!! For the price, this "luxurious" hotel is about as opulent as a motel 6. The room was a tacky combination of European, Asian and garage sale finds. Bad taste aside, the furniture was worn, cheap, torn, and just plain ugly. There was also the addition of a portable A/C until in the room, which added to the tasteless decor. Outside the room wasn't much better, the pool was extremely small, the hot tub was tiny and closed at 9:00. There was a small fire pit and outdoor movie, which was a cute idea- but , again, cheaply done. Fake plants adorned the common spaces- small bouquets or real plants would have been so much nicer. Overall, we felt completely ripped off paying close to $500. (Including a "resort" fee ). The lady that checked us in was very friendly and kind . I don't think many of the positive reviews on this property are real and I would look for other alternatives than this money pit.. seriously.

Mixed Bag at a Dated Resort with Huge Suites

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

I have to admit I'm rather mixed about this Sonoma resort hotel. The website photos made it look quite luxuriant, but the reality is that the place felt dated in a state of flux in relation to getaway poshness. When my husband and I decided to spend a weekend in Bodega Bay, this looked like it had possibilities. We definitely liked receiving a complimentary glass of red wine upon check-in. On the upside, the room we reserved was huge with a fireplace and a sofa. Of course it should be nice for $450 a night (tax included). The Australian rain shower head was a plus in the huge shower stall, and the double sink vanity was set far apart. The cracks started to show with the TV where we discovered our selection menu was stuck on straight porn. Just our luck. It was obviously the preference of the previous room occupant. The staff was not able to rectify the situation but to no avail. Not even local channels were available, so we decided to refocus on the fireplace. Despite several attempts to spark a lasting flame, the logs just refused to ignite. We were left with the jacuzzi which was already overrun with unsupervised rambunctious children. That left us alone with our iPhones to watch videos reflecting our own proclivities. Gee, we could've done that at home. We did take advantage of the complimentary s'more kits but only after they were ransacked by the families occupying the other rooms. The breakfast buffet was a bit of a meh, and I'll just let my photo speak for itself. Other amenities included a pool. There was a play area in the back where a family was playing badminton in the late afternoon. It doubles as an outdoor movie theatre at night. In the lobby was a spiral staircase that led up to a game and reading room with a view. We were informed there was a recent change in ownership, and plans are underway for major renovations. And none too soon.

Perfectly restful retreat

This was a great find and perfect getaway for my 2 teen kids, dog and me. Extremely comfy beds, quiet and spacious rooms, and unique setting where you can wander the grounds, play corn hole, hang out by the fire pit, have s'mores, and if you like, use the jacuzzi. It is laid back, low-key, comfortable and well located off the 1. Lovely, cheerful staff.

Our go to spot in Bodega

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 months ago

I've stayed here over many years... sometimes solo, sometimes with my wife and pup. First and foremost this resort has the feel of an old school establishment in a European village. Very casual and quiet, a family run type of place. The rooms range from very large to cozy. The grounds are prefect for those with pups... the back lawn, a ball and a golden retriever. The drive to Bodega Bay is easy... the breakfast competent and fresh... there's a reason we stay here quite a bit.

Last Room Available

I spent a weekend at Sonoma Coast Villa, trying to get away from the city. Due to the weekend, this was the only place hotel that had a room available and I can’t be more grateful. The grounds are beautiful. The continental breakfast was fresh. The room was beautiful. They have a jacuzzi. At night a showing of The Birds was played with some marshmellows. I would definitely stay here again.

We recently returned quite reluctantly from our trip to Sonoma Coast Villa. I had spoke with the owner/ manager several times via email to discuss plans for our trip. We had several side trips and plans included in our package that had been scheduled for us. When we arrived at the Villa and were greeted by the owner himself. He helped us with our luggage and brought us to our rooms. We were very happy to see a beautiful room with fireplace and large whirlpool tub. We started unpacking and the owner returned with welcome appetizers and champagne. He told us to come to the dining room for a cooking demonstration at 7:30. We were delighted to see that he was also the cook. The food was amazing and continued to be amazing our entire stay. Everything was superb - from the food, to the room, to all the extra activities we had planned. I would definitely visit Sonoma Coast Villas again. It was hands down the best vacation we have ever had mostly because of all of the personalized service!
