About the Hotel

Designed to give the feel of an authentic Khmer village in rural surroundings – it does just that. Enormous care has been taken in its construction, and the interiors have same theme of rural simplicity. A little pot of bright green rice shoots decorate the tables, and shutters are made with woven banana leaves. Within the resort lie two restaurants, two bars, a boutique, a 50 meter infinity pool and a spa.

Reviews for Phum Baitang

Magical Experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

Our stay at Phum Baitang was absolutely magical. Upon arrival from the Siem Reap airport via Grab (~1 hr's drive) in the evening, the hotel's beautifully lit, winding driveway slowly built the anticipation of our arrival into the welcoming lobby and staff. When we were shown our villa and walking through the property, it was bathed in the warm glow of the downlights lining the walkways overlying the rice paddies while the frogs croaked along with the crickets' chirping. Our villa itself was of a modern organic luxury, minimalist style in keeping with the Khmer culture/architecture. The hotel itself was of a different style/philosophy/uniqueness compared to many of the other "standard" luxury hotel chains. The two onsite restaurant options were convenient and delicious although going into town was just about 10 minutes' drive away, easily accessible via tuk-tuk or car (via Grab app). The pool was lovely and not too busy. The spa provided great massages. The staff themselves were lovely and genuinely friendly. Overall, Phum Baitang (along with the Khmer people and culture) made our trip to Siem Reap a magical and memorable experience. We will definitely stay at Phum Baitang again if/when we visit Siem Reap again, and we look forward to staying at other Zannier properties. We have already been recommending Zannier to our friends and family!

The absolute highlight of an incredible trip - a must stay property.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

What an incredible property. It is simply stunning - picturesque, beautifully appointed, unique, peaceful, perfect. The food in the restaurants was outstanding, rare to find within a property. The spa was magnificent - as good as any i have been to in the world. But it was the staff, the people, that made this place truly magical. Bravo Phum Baitang - you have created an experience that we will never ever forget.

Fantastic Experience and the best Tourist Guide

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

I stayed 7 days at Zannier Hotel. The Hotel services are excellent since the moment I arrived. Their employee picked me up at the airport with cooling towel and refreshing drinks. Upon arrival, the front desk walked with me to my room introduced the hotel itself and services they have. When I enjoy my Villa, my luggage was sent along with a special mint drink. They are breakfast was always fresh selected and prepared. Coffee and fruits are amazing. Everyone was always polite and friendly. The Menu at Hang Bay was amazing. They truly tastes like a Michelin Star restaurant. The front desk are always helpful especially with my tour guide arrangement to the city of Angkor, including Angkor Wat. My Guide Ouk Dinaka was the best Tourist Guide the I could ever image and meet all my needs when I was exploring the city of Angkor. She is super friendly and patient, very knowledgeable about the Khmer traditions, culture, foods and all the histories of the temples in Angkor city. She's very passionate and always full of energy. With her as my guide at Angkor city, We visited 7 different temples, I feel that I had my dream come true. She also helped me took lots of fantastic photos. Thanks to Zannier hotel at Phum Baitang and my wonderful guide Ouk Dinaka, I had the best time and experience in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Will come back again.

Great Hotel in a Beautiful Setting

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

Our stay at the hotel was enchanting. The garden consists of beautiful rice fields, and the rooms are all in traditional Khmer houses. Breakfast was fantastic, with a wide variety of delicious options to start our day. The kids loved the very large pool, and the complimentary bikes were perfect for exploring the hotel grounds. The gym was small but great. The hotel is also conveniently close to Siem Reap and the Angkor temples. Overall, a perfect blend of serene surroundings and modern amenities. Highly recommended for families.

Lovely resort of high quality, but extremely pricey and located a bit far away from the centre of town

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

As mentioned by many other reviewers, it's a lovely well maintained high quality resort in an idyllic location with some of the most friendly staff you can imagine. The rooms are of a very high standard, although the ones we were allocated (06 and 07) had no view of any description. It is sort of pointless to have a very nice porch/balcony when you have nothing to look at - it becomes dead space. So when you pick your room and/or get allocated one, it's worth looking on the map if you want to spent some evening time on the porch. The pool is very nice though and love the view from the infinity pool of the rice paddies. The pool bar staff are also super friendly (special shout out to Lin) and attentive. The restaurant serve very good and tasty food. Why we would not strongly recommend this place over other 5 star places in Siem Reap is for two reasons: 1) For us the novelty of the location wears off and a bit and then you realise you are quite far from most things in Siem Reap vs other high end hotels. And of course there are tuktuks, but everything is just a bit more of a hassle. Nothing this resort can do about that and it's a choice and also about what you want out of a visit 2) The other thing is that simply everything is expensive for what it is - maybe that is the Zannier philosophy to how they create exclusive resorts, but in my view, just because I can afford it, doesn't mean I find it good value for money. The price of the rooms is fair enough given they are of a very high standard, but everything else is more pricey than it needs to be by Cambodian standards and it simply takes the mickey. Tuktuks are more expensive than usual, an evening meal for four in the restaurant for $300 when you can eat & drink for less than $100 in central Siem Reap at good restaurants, cocktails in the bar priced from $16 and well upward (they're good, but we're not in the Elephant bar in the Raffles hotel and the staff are not top rated mixologists working in Western night clubs...) and going up to a Aperol Spritz at $24 (you can pay less than that in a decent bar in London...), ... and the one that tops is to pay $5/liter (!) for filtered tap water in a country where the average GDP per capital is $2,500 per person is simply embarrassing. And yes the resort gives back to the community, but I've been in business long enough to know where most margin ends up... Overall, we had a lovely time and we on balance didn't regret choosing the place. But we wouldn't recommend it highly to friends who would want to stay in Siem Reap or go back here. There clearly is a clientele for this resort and if you don't mind to pay an average Cambodian daily wage for a liter tap water, this is probably the place for you. But if you want a five star resort/hotel in Siem Reap, there are many other options in town that are closer to the temples, in walking distance of Pub street and in our view better value for money.
