Great hotel and location if you are happy to pay a premium or get a good deal for a stay. The hotel is 15 mins drive from the airport (about $17 uber fare). The location is right next to the Adelaide train station and just across the river from the Adelaide Oval but you’d barely notice if a game is on if you are staying on the other side (street side) of the hotel. The room is spacious, is somewhat aged, but most importantly as an IHG hotel the beds are comfortable and the bathroom is stylish and contains a bath. There is a small pool downstairs in an outdoor terrace and a large gym room with heaps of machines and facilities (no sauna or spa that I could see) Interestingly, the hotel is right next to the most non-descript casino in the world. There’s barely a sign visible to say it’s Adelaide Casino and you’d only know if you look through the windows and see the machines when walking on the river side of the hotel. There is a few eating places nearby but you are better to walk or catch the free city tram to some other areas that offer more alternatives. Overall, you won’t go wrong staying here for the hotel and facilities.

Check-in was polite . We had booked a room which included executive club lounge access. We have stayed many times before. There was no IHG member recognition, but we were allowed an extra hour. There will be some changes in future in that only classic parkland view rooms and above will have executive lounge access included. The (cheaper) classic city view won't include lounge access. For those who don't care about views, it will be an extra cost, as all rooms are much the same. The lounge has had some budget cuts. The afternoon tea is a little bit less than before, still quite ok, but cheaper products. The evening session only includes a plated offering. There were meat balls and ratatouille in pastry cups. Nice home cooking, but certainly not the wagyu beef and duck breast of days gone by. If you ask about this, you will be told that the chef has only plated enough, not more. There is a small section of buffet cheese/ham/salad/nuts. You will be sent an email a few days before to say if you have any food allergy so they can prepare for you. I can understand that helps avoid food waste, and am happy to see the hotel uses Ozharvest as a partner. I get it that the club lounge is a cost centre, so budget cuts can occur. Nevertheless there was a feeling of 'not as good as before' in the lounge. There used to be a feeling of the lounge being 'wonderful.' Even so, it is good to see repeat guests, but the numbers seemed lower this year on Christmas eve. The drinks served in the lounge are quite good for wine drinkers. Display bottles of the wines are on show where the hot buffet used to be. I noticed the spirits selection had been slightly downsized. For example the hotel used to have a special bespoke gin. Now it is a commercial variety. We overheard one repeat guest complaining. It was nice to see Ray serving in the lounge. He remembered us from our last visit. Like the rest of the team there, he does his job well. The room was a partial river view. The sofa had obviously been enjoyed by lots of kid's feet and well due for cleaning or replacement. A handy spot to put our bags though. The pool is lovely and warm. The gym is great. We ate dinner out. Transport from the hotel is easy as it is next to the train station/tram stop/bus stops/taxi rank. You can have breakfast downstairs in the Riverside restaurant. It was nice to see repeat guests there. The Christmas day offering was exceptional. That was a highlight of the stay and really did feel 'wonderful'. It didn't get busy while we were there . If you like, you can also eat upstairs in the executive lounge. That's nice for a quiet cup of coffee. The food offering was focused on carbohydrates. (lots of cakes, bread, toast etc). There was also a small cold meat, cheese and egg selection. At exactly the official check-out time my room card stopped working. I had to go to reception to explain I had been given an extra hour during checkin. It was lucky I had photo ID and not in gym clothes or swimmers! That has happened before, so I guess it will happen again in future. I know what to expect. As the hotel is owned by a Thai conglomerate, it would be nice to see some Thai touches to the hotel to set it apart from other hotels in Australia. I was lucky enough to book using a hotel sale. For the price we paid, it was good, but not 'wonderful.'

Fantastic location with great access and views out to the water. We recently stayed three nights to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary and the service provided by the staff was amazing. We stayed in an Club room which had fantastic views out to the water. The rooms are a little quirky in shape which was a welcome change from the standard design you seen in so many hotels these days. The bathroom was huge. We had read reviews that the hotel is very dated, and whilst a lot of fixtures are definitely showing their age, the room was very clean and had all the facilities you would need. What really set this hotel apart was the fantastic service we received. On multiple occasions staff went over and above what we would have expected to make sure our stay was special. Special note has to go to the staff in the club lounge who made us feel very welcome and the duty manager who gave us many personal recommendations of places to visit in the Barossa and surrounding areas. As other reviews have mentioned, the club lounge operates differently with a nightly themed selection of canapes offered on a plate. This was complimented by a small self service selection of fruits and cheeses. I really enjoyed this setup over the traditional buffet as you could sit back and relax. The food quality each day we dined was fantastic. The only recommendation would be to improve the selection of food on offer at the afternoon tea. The other hotel facilities were great including a well heated pool, gym, bar and restaurant. Overall, we do hope the hotel proceeds with its planned refurbishments as, when combined with the service provided this will take the hotel to the next level. Can't wait to return in the future.

We stayed in a classic room. Size was good, bed and pillows were very comfy. Could stream to TV. Shower was great! We parked at the convention centre car park for $32 we parked the car and didn’t move it until we were leaving. Easy paved and flat walk from park exit to hotel. Concierge parking they park your cars for our outdoors at the entrance. Location is perfect 👌🏻 particularly if you have an event at the convention centre or adelaide oval. Staff were very nice and accomodating. Decor is dated. The room was very very hot the next day which was a forecasted 40 degree day. We didn’t take advantage of the late check out due to the heat in the room. Friends who stayed at the same time said the same.

The hotel is very nice and cannot really fault any area. Its located near everything, especially near the exhibition area where it was good for me. Its right next to the casino where you can have a drink and take a punt or two to pass the time. Or you can stake a stroll along the river.
