Immerse yourself in lush tropical beauty, surrounded by 40 acres of vibrant landscape high above Costa Rica's Central Valley, and soak in the sunny skies of Xandari Resort & Spa. Just outside of San Jose, this amazing resort - with approximately three miles of scenic trails, a river and waterfalls - will show you the true wonder of Central America. Stunning guest villas offer flowing architecture that winds through the gardens and creates a modern-meets-tropical design that is at once elegantly stunning and gracefully tranquil. Bright and open rooms are spacious and breezy, with gleaming tiled floors, pure white walls, and vivid colorful accents - all tied in to the rich wood décor and furniture. Brilliant natural light streams in through large sliding glass doors, while the views from private garden terraces will truly take your breath away.

Went in my layover day. Spent the night and booked a massage treatment. Ended up doing two as my masseuse, Irene, was fantastic. Would very much recommend the resort for just her. Was quite rainy the whole stay but staff were very helpful. Food was also great but nothing worth screaming about. Close to the airport so quick transfer.

I'm hoping the manager of Xandari sees this and responds as I'd welcome a direct email to understand and hopefully resolve. A warning to be very careful when booking and double check you're charged the correct rate. I had an issue which was at best an error on the hotel's side (rather than deliberately misleading/unethical trading) which meant I couldn't cancel, despite asking twice in writing for a flexible rate. There doesn't seem to be a direct contact for management and reservations metaphorically shrugged their shoulders. My bank is pursuing but given my request was in writing and clearly an error with the hotel's admin, an unnecessarily stressful end to a stay. Hotel is OK - very dated and musty but that may be the area/costa rica as a whole - and seemed very pricey for quality. Staff on front desk and restaurant good, as was the breakfast.

Absolutely amazing spa. I had an amazing experience. I highly recommend the therapist, Irene. She was extremely professional. Irene does an amazing deep tissue massage, probably the best I have ever had. The herbal jacuzzi experience is also wonderful. Cannot recommend enough. Beautiful spa, relaxing atmosphere.

Massage therapists Irene and Jennifer were absolutely amazing! Highly recommend a session while you are there. Irene gives a great deep tissue massage. Peaceful in a somewhat enclosed cabana with the sound of rain on the roof. Resort itself is nice although bathrooms could use some updating and there could be more if a breakfast selection. Only one choice so repetitive if staying more than a night. Beautiful grounds with trails to waterfalls.

We stayed two nights at this stunning location after flying over 24 hours to Costa Rica. What a place to relax and adjust to the new time zone. The rooms are amazing the views in the morning were just stunning from our balcony. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and the local coffee also great. we chilled in the hotel and we also went to do a local tour to one of the volcanoes. It was a fantastic experience. The sunset pool with hot tub was also a great way to chill at the end of the day. The staff were super friendly, really helpful. We would love to come back again. This is a unique place- Thankyou!

We love Xandari. You have the perfect combination of elegance and comfort, without the pretension and over solicitousness of other comparable hotels.

We have never been to a place where the imprint of human creativity is so well balanced with the beauty of nature.

My experience at Xandari has been more than value...it's about personal warmth and touch. Gentility is a rare treasure in the service industry. Costa Rica offers this on many levels and Xandari exceeds it.

“Travel Dates: March 24-28, 2013 Room: Villa 3 We are from the States. We chose Xandari based upon ratings from the trip advisor website, its proximity to the San Jose airport and its centrally located position (w/r/t to the country as a whole). We chose to rent a vehicle (easy to drive in Costa Rica as long as u have a 4x4 vehicle and a GPS)- would recommend limited night time driving. Xandari was an oasis set on the hillside with beautiful views of San Jose. The first night we arrived, we were greeted by the bellman and hotel desk staff. We were quickly whisked away to our room. We had an Ultra villa, which was more than enough room for me and my wife. The room had a small collection of ants near the screen door (my wife is terrified of bugs so this was more of an issue for her). The staff was extremely apologetic and quickly made arrangements to transfer us to another room. They did so within 15 minutes and we failed to have another complaint. Service at the restaurant was great, especially given the laissez-faire attitudes of most Costa-Ricans. The grounds were well maintained. The staff was extremely attentive and responsive to any request. The rooms were cleaned well by the maids. The bed, at least in my unit, was comfortable. Things to note: No air-condition, but they do have fans upon request (it gets quite cool at night, so this wasn't a significant issue for us). No TVs in the room, but they do have one in the main house (more of an issue if u like to keep up on your sports, etc while on vacation). Mild-moderate amount of insects outside of your rooms, but keep in mind the resort is set in a hill side jungle, replete with water falls, etc so this should be expected”
