Best parts of our Xandari experience, and who take your adventures with!!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

We went to Xandari for our honeymoon at the end of April. While there we went to the La Paz Waterfall Gardens near the Poas Valcano. While the volcano tours were not available, due to eruptions, we were able to take an amazing tour of the Gardens, waterfalls, and see the beautiful animals there. Our driver/ tour guide was fantastic. If anyone has the opportunity to ride with Luis Madrigal please take it. He made this experience so much better by walking us through the exhibits and making teaching us about the local flora and fauna. He was very considerate and polite and made my wife and I laugh the whole ride there and back. Luis, if you are reading this you raised the bar my friend, Muchas gracias mi amigo!!! The rest of Xandari is absolutely stunning. The first night we had dinner there it was spectacular, the food and service were amazing. In the distance we could see the lighting of a coming storm and it was like watching a light show. If you are dining at Xandari make sure you have Mario as your waiter. He was super respectful, and his humor really lit up our dining experience.

Xandari, totally worth it!

We stayed at Xandari for two days. This was my fourth visit. Our aunt needs walking aids, so the staff made sure everything was convenient to her needs. The gardens were beautiful as usual. Although you can see some aging in the pool tiles, and the dishes we ordered were not as good as they were in the past, we probably got the friendliest and warmest service I remember receiving during my stays here. Kudos to the spa staff, Deymi in particular. Xandari is totally worth it, and Ill be back!

During our latest visit, we booked massages. The therapists Irene, Lizbeth, and Maria were knowledgeable, strong, and skillful. Irene worked wonders for nerve pain relief. Lizbeth and Maria did excellent deep tissue massages. Any time we return to this great resort, we will surely ask for these therapists. Bless their HEALING HANDS.

Excellent location and a lovely resort.

Excellent hotel and grounds with superb views across the valley. Our villa was large, very clean and comfortable with a really good bathroom. The balcony was huge and the views over the valley were stunning. Restaurant also very good with food quality excellent. Every member of staff we had contact with were really friendly and professional. The hotel grounds are extensive and are really well maintained. Very conveniently situated as only a short drive from the airport so ideal for our first two nights in Costa Rica before moving on.

Great stopover before flying home

Nice place for a stopover . We didn't have time to use spa. Lovely gardens to wander in ... you have to go see the bamboo! Grounds are beautiful and restaurant is good with great views over city. Not sure I would choose to saty more than a couple days.

We love Xandari. You have the perfect combination of elegance and comfort, without the pretension and over solicitousness of other comparable hotels.

We have never been to a place where the imprint of human creativity is so well balanced with the beauty of nature.

My experience at Xandari has been more than value...it's about personal warmth and touch. Gentility is a rare treasure in the service industry. Costa Rica offers this on many levels and Xandari exceeds it.

“Travel Dates: March 24-28, 2013 Room: Villa 3 We are from the States. We chose Xandari based upon ratings from the trip advisor website, its proximity to the San Jose airport and its centrally located position (w/r/t to the country as a whole). We chose to rent a vehicle (easy to drive in Costa Rica as long as u have a 4x4 vehicle and a GPS)- would recommend limited night time driving. Xandari was an oasis set on the hillside with beautiful views of San Jose. The first night we arrived, we were greeted by the bellman and hotel desk staff. We were quickly whisked away to our room. We had an Ultra villa, which was more than enough room for me and my wife. The room had a small collection of ants near the screen door (my wife is terrified of bugs so this was more of an issue for her). The staff was extremely apologetic and quickly made arrangements to transfer us to another room. They did so within 15 minutes and we failed to have another complaint. Service at the restaurant was great, especially given the laissez-faire attitudes of most Costa-Ricans. The grounds were well maintained. The staff was extremely attentive and responsive to any request. The rooms were cleaned well by the maids. The bed, at least in my unit, was comfortable. Things to note: No air-condition, but they do have fans upon request (it gets quite cool at night, so this wasn't a significant issue for us). No TVs in the room, but they do have one in the main house (more of an issue if u like to keep up on your sports, etc while on vacation). Mild-moderate amount of insects outside of your rooms, but keep in mind the resort is set in a hill side jungle, replete with water falls, etc so this should be expected”
