Swissotel Grand Efes Izmir

Excellent hotel, clean and well serviced. Rooms are wide and confortable. Breakfast is top. Fotness room has everythibg and the 50 meters outdoor pool is hreat in summer time. I have been here 10 times in the past year and I will keep coming back.

This is my first time in Izmir and Swiss hotel is an excellent way to start. Ms Çağla and Mr Firat were very kind and helpful during check in. They upgraded me as there was an availability. Bellman Ibrahim took me to room and explained all. The view from garden room is nice and peaceful. Nespresso in the room is a good addition.

The hotel is well situated and staff is helpful. However there is room for improvement 1. The staff fluency in English needs improvement. Especially in restaurants and breakfast table. Attitudes of few staff during breakfast time indicate more training needed 2. The in-room dining service has gone down the drain. I stayed at the hotel in May and it was much better. Basically the catering seems to be outsourced, because the food arrives quite cold/tepid warm. Fries and pasta never arrived hot. 3. In the restaurant on 9th floor, poor accommodation for allergies. The gluten free bread is a lame toast. When for such an expensive restaurant it can be better. Veg options are also limited for starters. 4. I stayed for 8 days, and the fruits that were placed on day 1, stayed throughout becoming mouldy, and were never replaced until the last day 5. TVs in the room are small and outdated - need updating. These are areas of improvement - other aspects are as expected for this costly and highly rated hotel, not beyond expectation.

For my first visit to Izmir I chose this hotel for its convenient location. And it was perfect. Close to the sea and public transportation. Had some hick-ups at checking in, but that was sorted out to our full satisfaction. Room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. The Breakfast Buffet spread was HUGE and delicious. To bad I didn't have capacity to try it all. And it had nice outdoor seating, where the actually was a non-smoking section. Not easy to find at other restaurants in Turkey. Highly recommendable.

Nice and well-located hotel. Clean and comfortable spacious room. Only one disadvantage, I still don't understand why the hotel takes a deposit Payment and hold it for some time (As said to me 1-2 weeks) before they refund it back to my credit card account...!!!
