About the Hotel

Formerly a 17th century monastery, the Santa Rosa enjoys a magnificent location with incredible views in all directions in an Amalfi Coast rustic retreat surrounded by aromatic, lemon-tree-filled tiered gardens. The 20 bedrooms are decorated in cool, neutral colors, livened up with modern art. All guest rooms have ocean views, surprising amounts of space and a 100-per-cent-romantic vibe. Beds are made up with the finest white Italian linens and the bathrooms are splendidly done out in sand-colored stones. The hotel's Michelin-starred Chef Christoph Bob creates innovative Mediterranean dishes prepared exclusively with products from the monastery's own garden, served with all the elegance of luxury fine dining. The Spa at Monastero Santa Rosa was dug directly from the cliff rock, and seems worlds away from the stress of daily life. Relax in the tiepidarium, steam room, ice fountain, sauna cave, massage pool, spa shower, and foot baths.

Reviews for Monastero Santa Rosa Hotel & Spa

Sublime

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

The most picturesque, peaceful and upscale property in the Amalfi Coast. The resort was previously a monastery and maintains the meditative environment while providing top notch service and facilities. The pool is built into a cliff overlooking the sea, the dining areas are gorgeous and share the same view of the sea and gardens. The gardens are incredible, they rival the highly praised gardens of Ravello and offer a sanctuary in which to relax after traveling around the coast. We did a few day tips which are easy to plan using private transfer or the hotels shuttle to Amalfi from where you can take ferries and busses to other locations on the coast. The spa is fabulous offering hot and wet facilities and a long list of spa treatments. Breakfast is included and in itself is an experience is luxury travel. Highly recommend if you are looking for a fabulous break from the crowded of the coast.

Wonderful hotel

We stayed here for my wife’s 50th birthday without the children. It was a magical experience. The monastery is stunning and has an incredible infinity pool right on the cliff edge. The concierge was extremely helpful via what’s app and booked a lot for us including a private boat trips to capri and restaurants. The complementary shuttle car was available to Amalfi throughout the day and evening. This was particularly helpful given the cost of taxis along the Amalfi coast.

The best hotel that I have ever stayed in in my entire life. The grounds and pool are undescribable. The guest suites are amazing. All the employees can't do enough for you. Breakfast is terrific and the Michelin Star restaurant well needless to say YOU HAVE TO TRY IT FOR YOURSELF

Beautiful stay!

I've been following Monastero on instagram for 5 years and we just got back from a beautiful stay. When I realized the fact that they invented the sfogliatella pastry, (mu husbands favorite), I knew we had to go. The property and grounds are beautiful, impeccably kept. The infinity pool is worth the price of admission. Room was comfortable with twice daily housekeeping. The staff, whether at the reception, bar, pool, or restaurants were gracious and helpful. They took care of our every need without issue. With only 20 rooms, its quiet and peaceful. From the beginning to the end, a great experience. Its one of those places that you want everyone to know you went to, but don't want to tell anyone for fear it will become too popular and lose its charm. You wont be disappointed.

A truly magical experience in one of the best locations on earth.

Point blank this is the finest hotel my wife and I have ever stayed at. We had just spent a week touring Venice, Florence and Rome which both exciting but exhausting. Upon arriving the monastero we were literally in awe of the views from every window as we toured the property. Our room, Rosemarinus, was even more breathtaking. Every possible detail that a hotel could consider was done in this room. Incredible views. luxurious bathroom, twice a day room cleaning and the most comfortable beds imaginable. We were so entralled by this property that we canceled plans on day two of our six days here because we didn't want to leave. The pool could possibly be the best in the entire amalfi coast and with only 20 rooms in the hotel you always felt a sense of deep peace and relaxation. The food likewise was impeccable and some of the best we had on the coast. There is a michelin starred restaurant but also a more casual option which we ate at for dinner two nights. The spa likewise was incredible with every imaginable offering and a beautiful layout. Not to be missed during your stay. Try the Nun's Escape which is a two hour massage, facial, hot stone experience. Life changing. The thing that truly sets this place apart is the service however. The thoughtfulness. The anticipation of needs. The lack of pretense and fussiness about it. Anything we asked for was taken care of without explanation and immediately. As an example whenever we ordered something to the room or needed help it was there in minutes. The concierge also helped us to set up every aspect of the week before we even arrived and made suggestions on everything we did based on needs and price. Boat tours, beach clubs, restaurant reservations. Free car service to amalfi. The last night of the trip we were eating in the restaurant and the Head Manager was asking us about our stay. My wife mentioned in passing that she had fallen in love with a set of dishes they used during breakfast service and the next morning at check out there was a bag with some of the dishes as a parting gift. This place is not cheap but if you want to treat yourself to an immersive, deeply peaceful. one of a kind experience that you will never forget then this place is an absolute must.
