About the Hotel

Once a nondescript public library building, overlooking the Prinsengracht (Prince’s Canal), Andaz Amsterdam has been transformed into a fantastical dream-world by Dutch architect and renowned designer Marcel Wanders. Traditional Dutch art and culture meshes with the present at every turn. Sit in the oversized tulip chairs, read the history of Amsterdam on the wallpaper, stroll through the romantic secretive garden, and take pictures in our Instagram-worthy Observatorium - where the history of Dutch seafaring is retold through light-fixture constellations and Old World maps.

Reviews for Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht

Amazingly unique hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

Andaz Amsterdam is very unique and memorable hotel with great location. We stayed as Hyatt Globalist and were warmly welcomed at check in with upgrade to the canal view room. The receptionist at check in was so friendly, kind and went out of her way to make us recommendation for things to do and what to eat around the hotel. She would probably walked us to Frite place herself if she could. It’s so refreshing to meet a young person so passionate about her job and caring toward guests. There was a hand written welcome note and goodies left for us in the beautiful room. The room set up was strange but we got used it it. Plus can’t beat the canal view and the beautiful bathroom. The bed was super comfy and the minibar was fully stocked. The garden in the back was so green and like a little oasis with Alice in Wonderland vibe. Liked the view of giant bells from the elevator strangely. Breakfast was fantastic except for some mix up during the second morning but not the staffs fault. She was dealing with quite a demanding guest who was ordering off menu and confused her and the chef. It was such a nice view of the garden from the dining area. My son loved the Danish Apple pie with sprinkles for breakfast.

Beautiful stay; top notch service, great food & drink; absolutely NO complaints

Wow, wow, wow, the level of detail, the service, the food, the drinks. Everything was top notch. Yet another Hyatt property that does NOT disappoint. Upon checkin we were welcomed with a glass of wine and great service. The great service was consistent throughout our stay. The food was simply amazing. We had tuna tartare, the lobster and crab roll, the vegetarian samosas, along with some other tapas. All delicious. The drinks at the bar were great and our server was so knowledgeable, able to offer us so many recommendations. Service was friendly and timing. Absolutely perfect. And the attention to detail in the design of the space -- it's my favorite hotel so far for its many visual interests. Beautiful celestial theme with all the lighting fixtures as spheres and rings (to represent planets), and everything is an homage to something especially Dutch. The tulip-shaped and -colored chairs in the lobby were so cute. The art all around the building was amazing. I mean the thought and intention behind the design of everything here is just so impressive. The room itself was clean and had everything we need for a comfortable stay -- even an outlet converter in case you forgot one. Minibar was stocked every day. I literally have 0 bad things to say about this property; if I'm ever in Amsterdam, I'm definitely booking this again.

Unique property; great location

Unique location and decor; however, the configuration of the room was strange because the bathroom sink is basically right adjacent to the bed. OK for a solo travelr but would have been very uncomfortable for two people. Friendly service. Nice breakfast options. Hotel appeared to be clean. Small fitness center.

Canal view so nice with blue skies and sun

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Short journey from airport. although we arrived at 2300, the reception and bar was perfect and very friendly and a free mini bar in our room. We had a canal facing room that was never a dull moment when in the room, hotel location nicely quiet but footsteps away to the right, of main entrance, to streets of local food and regular shops and a short walk to the left past a couple of canal bridges to the trams to dam station or museum area . Although we walked most places then got a tram back . We had perfect unseasonally sunny hot weather so spent time around Dam square. The hotel breakfast was a good and choice from menu, the table service was great and idabal gave us advice on how to get around. Stephen the bar manager also gave us the low down and even found a bottle of cider🍺for me. The evening meal was so nice but massive portions for starters and the main, so much we could not finish. We would return in a heartbeat .
