About the Hotel

Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam is a legend along the city’s fabled canals. This magnificent grouping of 17th- and 18th-century palaces, set along the prestigious, UNESCO-protected Herengracht in the Golden Bend neighborhood, brings the legendary True Waldorf Service to the heart of Holland’s capital. Authentic contemporary decor and architectural touches define the 93 elegant rooms, lofts, and suites. The King Lofts, located on the highest floor, with the building’s original wooden beams, are particularly enticing. Dine with a two-Michelin-starred chef in Spectrum, followed by after-dinner cocktails at the stylish Vault Bar.

Masterclass in Hospitality Excellence

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 12 hours ago

This place understands the art of hospitality. The thoughtful touches throughout our stay made it special - from the welcome amenities to the personalized recommendations from the concierge. The rooms are spacious and well-designed, with incredibly comfortable furnishings. The breakfast buffet was extensive and fresh, and the service staff remembered our preferences after just one

Avoid this hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

We paid €1700 per night for a room. They said we could check in early. Our flight landed and we did arrive at the hotel but they said our room was not ready. They had a sort of lounge (no real place to eat or drink post breakfast and pre dinner). At noon we check in and they said our room was not ready. Finally a few minutes after 3 pm which was the official check in time the check in desk merely opened his drawer and gave us the keys with no indication how long our room had been ready. The guide they recommended was not very good. We did ask their sommelier to decant a specific wine for dinner for two hours prior to our reservation which he did not do. Dinner was served over fiver hours and still not complete. I will not stay here again

Best Urban Hotel Experience Ever

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

I can honestly say that this was the best hotel experience I have ever had in an urban setting. My spouse and I stayed here 3 nights, and everything was perfect. The service was beyond excellent - welcoming, friendly and refined, without being snobby. It was our wedding anniversary and were were provided with excellent chocolates and champagne every night upon returning to our room. Our room was fantastic; huge space, comfortable bed, with a beautiful bathroom. It was on the main floor and overlooking the canal. The location was excellent and walking (or biking!) distance to most places in the city. Breakfast was absolutely fantastic, and the servers were as pleasant as the other staff. We are Hilton diamond members, and the breakfast that was included was far superior to any that we have ever had in North America. We were shown around the hotel and explained the historical significance of each of the homes (the hotel is set in a series of connected historic mansions from the Dutch golden age). The hotel makes its own honey from an onsite apiary, and the grounds are small, but beautiful (a little oasis in the heart of Amsterdam). I can't say enough good things about this hotel. This was truly a 5-star experience from start to finish. The hotel is not cheap, and I often feel disappointed after splurging on a high-end place, but this hotel is a destination in and of itself and was well worth the price. I would absolutely stay here again - in fact, I often think of making a detour to Amsterdam just to return to this hotel!

A piece of heaven on earth

After a long day walking around Amsterdam we needed an oasis where we could regain strength and relax. Waldorf’s lobby is just such a place. Attentive staff looking your every need, good selection of drinks and snacks, lovely piano music (a tad too loud) and the decor is lovely.

Best hotel in Amsterdam

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 months ago

Wonderful hotel. The property is beautiful and has an excellent location. Professional and kind staff. The woman who checked us in was lovely and the concierge got us a reservation at De Kas restaurant in town (hard to get a table). We ate lunch at the hotel and food was delicious. Every detail has been thought of here. Highly recommend.
