Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam

From the moment we arrived we realised we'd made the right choice. After a terrible experience at the Waldorf in London (simply awful DON'T waste your money) we were a little nervous but our minds were quickly put at bay by the team at Waldorf Amsterdam. From start to finish everyone excelled, the service was superb and our room (over looking the canal) was incredible. Breakfast was a marvellous experience. We stay away a lot and this was our forth stay in Amsterdam but the Waldorf Astoria will now be our first choice.

We had an absolutely amazing stay at the Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam. The premises are stunning, with beautiful, elegant surroundings that made our visit extra special. The breakfast was outstanding, foo was delicious, fresh, and a perfect start to the day. The customer service is truly top-notch; it's by far the best we've received to date. This is hands down the best city hotel we've stayed at. The location is perfect, just far enough from the hustle and bustle, yet walkable to all the key sights. Our King Grand Premier room with a canal view was modern, spacious, and impeccably clean. We were even welcomed with chocolate clogs and a lovely chocolate tart! The Guerlain spa was a fabulous addition to our experience. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Amsterdam, we can’t wait to be back.

My wife and I are regular visitors to this incredible hotel—we absolutely love it! Even now that we live in the Netherlands (Rotterdam), we still find reasons to return. For Valentine's Day, I decided to surprise my wife with a special evening at the Waldorf. While the experience was still excellent, it didn’t quite start with the usual magic we’ve come to expect. The room wasn’t ready at 3 PM, despite the Waldorf’s guarantee of availability by then. Since we were only staying for one night, we naturally wanted to make the most of our time. There were a few small details that felt off. For instance, my wife—who is a total chocolate fanatic—wasn’t offered one of the adorable Valentine’s Day heart chocolates displayed at the check in (they usually offer but I suppose my wife could have just taken one!) As a regular guest, I know they have copies of passports on the system - but I was still asked for one and as it was left in the car I had to go outside to my car and hunt for it. When I came back I was told "oh, you have been here before, we have one on file". This is exactly what I had said - I was a repeat guest. I know this all sounds trivial, and sure, a 30-minute wait isn’t the end of the world, but what makes the Waldorf Amsterdam so special is the flawless service from the moment you walk through the door. So, yes, I’ll admit it felt like a bit of a letdown. Further, it is a 5 star hotel with 5 star prices - you are paying for everything to be amazing. However, when we followed up on the room, Monica Sequeira stepped in and completely turned things around—she was amazing! That signature Waldorf magic was back. She handled everything seamlessly, and when I mentioned my wife’s love for chocolate, she went above and beyond. While we were out at dinner, a whole selection of chocolates was delivered to our room along with a beautifully handwritten note of apology. I had also requested roses for my wife, and wow—they were next level! From that moment on, the rest of our stay was, as always, wonderful. One of the best hotels in this world. Stayed there now a few times in 2023 and 2024. An exceptional team of people there, thanks to the management of Mrs Schlaipfer. Mr. Wulfers is the perfect host. The hotel has everything i am looking for, when i am traveling: Beautiful, big, quiet and clean rooms. High water pressure in the showers, for me, the most important thing in the mornings. Very good quality of food in the restaurants and a nice spa. Feel like home there. Thank you.

We recently completed our sixth stay at this property and every time is simply perfect. The hotel itself is stunning, the architecture of multiple row houses combined together into one property is seamless. The garden behind the hotel is a beautiful spot regardless of the season. However, the real stand out of the Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam is truly the people and the service. We have not had even the slightest service hiccup at this hotel in all of our visits. We have been fortunate to travel the world and stay at some of the most exceptional hotels including the Waldorf, Astoria, Maldives, the Ritz Carlton Phulay Bay, the Corinthia in London and many more. But this is the property we just keep returning to over and over again. It truly feels like a home away from home and everyone who works here is so lovely and welcoming. Deepest gratitude to the entire staff with a special thank you to Floris, who always helps us return to our favorite room, or occasionally try something different. We hope to return again soon!
