Strong recommendation of St Lucia and the Ti-Kaye Resort

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Ti-Kaye provided a most comfortable base for our introduction to St Lucia. Frankly, there was nothing that I did not like about it. The units were comfortable and situated to feel very private. The staff was super friendly. The views from all of the units tremendous. Some details: The food at the restaurant was really very good. Due to the difficult driving conditions on the island, we ate dinner there each evening and, though it is hard to get excited eating the same place for seven nights in a row, frankly, it was never a disappointment. Not big breakfast eaters, we were totally satisfied with the offerings of the "continental breakfast buffet". All offerings were top quality and for us, plenty to start each day. Looking over the shoulders of others who ordered off the menu, what was coming out of the kitchen as impressive. Food prices were very reasonable, with the continental breakfast offered at no additional charge. The resort flora was beautiful. There is constant upkeep going on and the head gardener is competent, confident, and a total trip to talk with. Her name is Yannis. We happened upon here while exploring and she has a farm on premises that provides much of the fresh vegetable offerings at the resort. Though it is not publicized, if you ask for a tour with the gardener, the resort will arrange for one at no charge (probably until too many people start asking.) Tip Yannis well as she is worth it. The beach is great. A lovely bay with what they say is a reef. I'm thinking that the reef is an ongoing project just getting started, but the snorkeling and diving are rewarding. Lots of fish to look at. Some tips: * Bring your citronella candle form your room to keep the bugs away if they are around while you lounge. They are not a big problem, but sometimes they are a presence. * Charlie is a local who hangs on the beach each day. He is friendly as all get out and he is a great source of information and anything (anything) you might need. If he doesn't have what you want, he knows where to get it or why you don't want it. * We mentioned to Charlie that we would like some fresh local fish. Restaurants on the island and at the resort tend toward not my favorite fish (Mahi Mahi, Dorado, Sailfish - though good, all are dense and dry to me). Hey, we are on an island, there should be options for fish right? Heck, you can see snapper and grouper and many others just snorkeling around! We mentioned this to Charlie and he asked when we would like them! The next day, he caught us one of each, cooked them over the fire on the beach with a garlic sauce and frankly it was one of my favorite meals of the week. Get to know Charlie . . . * My only one complaint would be with the policies of the water activities shop. Hey, they are nice and friendly but way too protective. The slightest bit of "waves" and they shut off availability of water items - (Kayaks etc). To us east coasters used to ocean waves and chop - these waters were always still. Very friendly and still. All in your experience and perspective and sure they are being protective (and many people I'm sure need protection) but a bit much in my opinion. All in all, the island is great. All you could ask for except safe roads. We rented a car and drove but these roads were just too much. Sharp turns, giant potholes. Unpredictable paving. Cars parked in lanes. We survived but there is a lot we would have done if the roads weren't so hazardous and bad. We never went out at night for this reason, which normally we would have always done. * My suggestion would be to accept the insurance on a rental car. Its expensive but it is worth it to eliminate the worry. Sure, your credit card covers you but that can be a hassle for a lot of reasons. You are on the island to rest, adventure and relax. Take the insurance. (We did not take the insurance and we worried a lot. Still, nothing happened, but we felt a bit lucky all and all.) Enough I think. We loved our vacation. If I went back to St Lucia, Ti Kaye would be my home.

Must go!

I CANNOT speak highly enough of Ti Kaye. My husband and I stayed here for 8 days on our honeymoon and everything - from the service, to the food, beach, pool, and more - were exactly what we were looking for. It is a quiet, peaceful resort with plenty of options to add in excursions if you choose to do so. We're already talking about when we can go back! The entire staff was so kind and accommodating. I would recommend Ti Kaye to anyone!

St Lucia magic

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Beautiful surroundings with stunning views of the bay. Friendly and relaxed vibe, with a touch of St Lucia magic, definitely a place to unwind. Staff are always attentive and courteous, with a great sense of humour. Rum tasting was great fun with Dina our host in the hotel wine cellar.

Hidden Gem

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Special hidden gem! Friendly, relaxed and not too slick made this a really enjoyable 3 nights. Definitely do not need a tv in your room as all cottages have panoramic views of the ocean from private terrace. Steps up and down from cottages means not suitable for guests with mobility issues.

Beautiful resort

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

I will detail this review with the positive, negative and commentary. Positive: Ti Kaye Resort is absolutely stunning! The area and the resort are both beautiful, offering breathtaking views of the ocean from every room. We stayed in a cottage, which had a lovely view, and it was an ideal setting for a relaxing getaway. There are free the free kayak rentals, which we took full advantage of. The area around the resort is picturesque, and kayaking was a great way to explore. We also took advantage of the snorkeling rental, which was reasonably priced. While we didn't see much in the immediate bay by the boat ramp, we were told that the snorkeling gets better farther down the beach, so there’s definitely an opportunity to explore more. The staff at Ti Kaye were generally accommodating and friendly. Our driver, who took us to Laborie at the end of our stay, was especially wonderful. He even stopped to let us take a photo of the Pitons and stopped at the chocolate factory on the way, which was a nice touch! Negative: The journey to the resort can be challenging. The drive takes about 90 minutes on very bumpy roads, so if you’re prone to motion sickness, this could be an issue. Additionally, the resort is quite isolated, which means you either need to rent a car or rely on taxis to get anywhere. The roads are narrow, and driving on the left side might not appeal to everyone, especially for those unfamiliar with such conditions. While the food at the resort is good, it can get quite expensive. We spent about $250 US) a day on food and drinks, which added up quickly. Taxis to nearby destinations are also very pricey. For instance, a round-trip taxi to a restaurant 45 minutes away was quoted at $150 (US), which made us feel a bit trapped at the resort. We ended up leaving a day early to visit Laborie, which offered a more local experience. One thing to really watch out for is the billing. The resort charges a 10% service fee and 10% VAT, but we often found that the VAT was doubled to 20% on our bills, and the service fee wasn’t reflected. As a result, we ended up paying additional tips, thinking they were not included. It’s important to double-check the bill before tipping to ensure you’re not tipping twice. Commentary: One thing to note is that other resorts and cruise ships bring groups of people into the bay on catamarans for swimming and snorkeling, as this area is known for its excellent swimming conditions. We found it a bit crowded at times, especially with 30+ people in the water at once. To avoid the crowds, we made sure to swim either early in the morning or later in the afternoon, which gave us more peaceful and enjoyable moments in the water

”Ti Kaye Village is incredible! It has a way of making you feel like you are part of a family on holiday with them. The staff caters to every whim you might have, from dinner to sightseeing. Every employee at Ti Kaye was always going out of his or her way to encourage you to relax and enjoy your stay. Even the landscapers would stop and greet you with a warm sunny smile.

The views were picturesque. Imagine waking up every morning and viewing through your French glass doors the St. Lucian seas – without moving from bed! Every touch they added to the cottage was well thought out. There is a swinging hammock for two on your veranda where you can privately watch the sunset. Even taking a simple shower was a lovely, as the outdoor showers offered a way to continue the island experience. The food presentation was scrumptious - every night a different menu with mouthwatering selections.

Every day we would head down to the ocean with a snorkeling mask and jump into the water. It was like swimming in a saltwater fish tank, a few steps off the resort beach.

We were very pleased with our experience with Luxury Link and also with our selection at Ti Kaye. We are 'talking up' both of you and thank you for offering such a wonderful vacation package on your site!”
