The location was good .. a 15minute stroll along the sea front to the Old Town. The hotel is listed as 4* but more like a 2 or 3* it has no public lounge and the bar / restaurant is across the busy road - both closed at 7pm in early October. The hotel interior is dark and felt “empty” and our classic twin room was really TINY - not even large enough to open two carry-on wheelie cases, or walk between the beds. We had to take it in turns to dress and walk about. The “courtyard view” was of the opposite wall… ie no view at all. The room needed a mirror. Using the shower head in the bath ( there was no proper shower fixture) flooded the bathroom floor whichever way you used it. Breakfast at 20€ was OK -nothing special and we spent time looking for missing dishes and cups. We would not recommend staying at the Royal. The reception staff were friendly but were unable to give us any reliable and accurate information on the local bus services. They said they didn’t use the buses!

Great location - poor hotel welcome

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

The hotel is situated close to all of the attractions of Antibes. The first impression of the hotel was that it was dismal & dated. The booking in process was very disappointing, to be asked to provide €50 per night ( for seven nights) €350 as a security deposit is way too much. The young man booking us in was rude, arrogant and challenging in his behaviour- not a good first impression. Room was large, bed comfortable and the cleaning was of a good standard. Loved Antibes and have travelled extensively around the area. Will continue to visit France & Antibes but will look for a better hotel where customer service is of a higher standard.

Stay Away!!!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 months ago

Terrible hotel. The water smelled like sewer and one member of our family even got sick from the water. The location is great, but the hotel is pretty close to a budget hotel. There are better quality budget motels on the highways. Staff is unhelpful, there are no amenities. Claims to renovation of the hotel are false as it is still very dated. Probably about 20 years out of date. I would definitely stay away from this hotel.

Location, location, location!!!

I very rarely write reviews but felt the need to as I don’t feel like this hotel has the reviews it deserves. I typically only stay in 5 star hotels but I was traveling alone and needed something more price friendly. The location was UNREAL! Steps to the beach and the main shopping area. It was very clean and a bit nicer than I expected after some of these reviews. Some of the reviews complain about charging for the beach club but perhaps they have never been to a European beach club as that is pretty standard. I am very hard to please and I would absolutely stay here again! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Great night at this hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 months ago

Spent a lovely evening here (and the afternoon before at the beach club across the way, spending an appalling amount of money on Prosecco, lured by the views and just how pleasant it all was. Also had lunch the next day there - horrendously busy, the poor harried staff). The hotel is well run and civilised, our room was great, although manipulating the shenanigans of the lighting system took perseverance, and the weird shelf above the bed meant it was inevitable that seeking the water resulted in a quick drenching. Bit odd that the light from the bathroom leaks through to the bedroom - annoying if your hearty “other half” wants to get up at 6 for a shower. Nuff said. Will certainly return. We didn’t have a view, but that can be sorted out by strolling out and seeking the real thing out.
