Reviews for Gran Melia Arusha

Luxury hotel in Arusha

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

Luxury hotel in Arusha with lush grounds, beautiful views of Mount Meru, a cool rooftop bar, a simply enormous swimming pool, an excellent gym, and even a coffee plantation. We enjoyed staying there after an extended safari. The staff were great, the rooms luxurious and the food excellent. A highlight for me was a craft market, Sanaa (reviewed elsewhere) where you could watch artisans at work. A tip is to try to get a room with a view of Mount Meru as it’s very nice to watch the sun go down over the mountain. An excellent place to decompress.

Modern, comfortable and friendly

Gran Melia Arusha is an impressive property which really stands out in Arusha, for any visit to the region whether it is for Safari, Kilimanjaro, business or something else - this is the given hotel to stay at. The hotel boasts a huge lush park where much of the vegetables served in the restaurants are grown. The gardener Moses was kind enough to show us around, providing samples and explaining all about the work being done. The Rooftop is obviously the place to see and be seen at and has a really vibrant and nice vibe which gets you in a good mode. Drinks are fabulous! Rooms are spacious, modern and well appointed. Housekeeping is good and cares well for both the guests and the room itself. When lounging by the very big and nice pool we were getting spoiled by the pool staff that constantly looked after us and provided fresh towels as well as sunscreen and food and drinks from the pool bar (don't miss the pizzas!) Spa and gym is top noch. Modern and relaxing. Treatments were great - highly recommend! In general staff is very friendly and accommodating - always greeting you with a warm smile. Guest Service Manager Daniel was extremely helpful and constantly present to assist and provide personalized service. Above being said - this is Africa and things are sometimes done in a different manner and at a different pace compared to many other places.

Great Start

Beautiful hotel to start your safari from! Very comfortable and great amenities. Good dining choices and a beautiful pool and garden area. Our family stayed here for 2 nights before heading out on our safari - it was a great start to a wonderful trip. The rooftop restaurant has good food and a great view! Breakfast was wonderful and the coffee was exceptional!

The best view on Mt. Meru

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

One of the best views in Mt. Meru from Arusha! Go to the veranda on the roof top, take a cup of espresso made from local harvested and roasted arabica beans, and enjoy the view! The best time to come for the view from early in the morning (at around 6:15) till evening (before 18:45)
