We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights during our stay in Athens last October, and couldn't fault it. Our Parthenon view room was lovely, well furnished and comfortable. The buffet breakfast is fantastic. The only small negative would be the location is not the prettiest. It is close to public transport, and all the sites are about a 30 minute walk.

This hotel is a special one for us every time we come here we feel like we have come home. Even though they are doing some refurbishment of the hotel the management ensured that the guests are not inconvenience at all. There is very little noise and nothing starts before 830 in the morning. The rooms are incredibly comfortable the beds amongst the best I’ve slept in at any hotel. Every single staff member is welcoming and have excellent customer service skills We want to particularly recognise the staff in the club lounge. They made us feel like VIPs. They remembered us from previous visits which shows excellence in the way that they treat their customers. The club Lounge is amongst the best. The quality of the food is excellent and the fact that there is an outside terrace overlooking the acropolis is the icing on the cake. A particular thank you to the following employees:- Pemy, in the lounge, nothing is too much trouble for her. She really looked after us and welcomed us like an old friend. One of our party was a particular difficult person, with lots of allergies. The whole of the club staff ensured that he was looked after and didn’t have anything that would upset him. Agni also gave us lots of tips of where to go on our days in the city. She was very warm and friendly and exceptionally professional as well. Thodoris and Eleutheria worked so hard at Breakfast always ensuring we had everything we needed including Almond Milk!! This is our fourth time back in this hotel and we’re coming back again in two weeks time. It has so many very precious memories. We look forward to seeing you all again soon

Stayed here with family while on vacation. We had a spacious room and it was clean and comfortable. The best part was a view of the Parthenon that was beautiful at night! The restaurant was very surprising. The food was absolutely delicious. We had dinner there several times. The breakfast buffet was amazing, but we only did that once due to the price. However, the location isn’t the greatest if you want to see the sites. While right off a main road and tour bus stops are down the street, there aren’t a lot of restaurants that are walkable. Also, it’s on a street with not so great accessibility. I’d recommend based on comfort, but not for location.

We selected the InterContinental for 2 reasons: Experience in other IHG hotels around Europe and views of the Acropolis. And we were not disappointed. We stayed at the Club level in a terrace suite (huge terrace) with the most amazing view of the Acropolis, especially at dark when lit. The Club lounge is our favourite lounge in IHG hotels we visited across Europe to date. The outside terrace is just the most relaxing place with the most amazing view to visit. All staff we interacted with were extremely friendly and had wonderful local tips to explore the vicinity and city. The location is not in the city centre which we actually prefer. Sightseeing bus stop is located a few minutes walk away from the hotel which is very convenient. If you do not fancy eating lunch or dinner at the hotel, there are a couple of really cool and understated local options for a coffee and dinner (covered in separate reviews). The lounge itself offers a great breakfast, and snacks and drinks during evening happy hour(s). The lounge undertook renovations in 2024 and we cannot wait to see the finished product when we return in early March 2025 !

In summary, this hotel was the one very bright spot on our disastrous trip to Greece. The plan for our trip was to spend a few days here exploring Athens, then a week on a private boat tour of the Greek islands. On arrival, everything was great. We had paid for an upgraded room with a balcony and a view of the Parthenon. The room was spacious and clean, everyone was friendly, and the room service food was delicious. However, on the first night of the boat tour, my wife became extremely sick and had to be rushed to a hospital. Thus began our second, unexpected stay at the Intercontinental, for almost two weeks. The staff could not have been better at accommodating all of our unknowns. We repeatedly had to extend the stay based on doctor's advice. This part of the trip, we had started in one of their Premium Accessible Rooms. This room was quite nice, large, with a walk-in shower and plenty of space to stretch out. In the middle of the stay, we arranged a paid upgrade to the lounge floor to deal with the boredom of being stuck in the hotel. It was truly one of the best hotel lounges I've ever experienced. Full breakfast and light lunch/dinner, along with a large balcony overlooking the Parthenon, and a top notch lounge staff. Spent much time there waiting until my wife could travel. I can wholeheartedly recommend this property for a visit to Athens. The accommodations are nice and the employees are excellent. If you can afford it, it's definitely worth the upgrade to the lounge floor. Once we've processed the emotional burdens of this trip, we hope to return for a real vacation and visit this wonderful property and team again.
