Fabulous Aukland!

The hotel is ideally placed to enjoy the centre of Auckland and the bar. It’s a comfortable hotel, not cheap but worth it There is so much to see and enjoy in and around Auckland, fabulous architecture, numerous restaurants and cafes and much more. The Maritime Museum is well worth a visit

Not up to typical JW standards

Of the JW Marriott 's we have stayed at I would rate this one the worst. Nothing in particular is bad about the property but also there was nothing particularly memorable about it. More like a nice Holiday Inn than a JW. Breakfast was fair, Concierge level was closed for repairs, rooms were small and lacking. It is a couple of blocks from the cruise terminal.

We enjoyed this hotel very much. The front desk staff is excellent and tries to meet your needs. Our room was also very nice. Good location. Check in went very smoothly however I wish our room had been ready early but of course, no hotel can guarantee that. We also used the hotel transportation to and from the airport which was super convenient.

A few hiccups, but good overall.

Wanted to love it, but there were a few bumps. First, I was told my room would be ready in about 45 minutes, but it wasn’t ready for four hours. I appreciate that I arrived before check-in, but please set appropriate expectations. Second, the breakfast service was slow, and a lot of the food was not the right temperature. Now the good, the staff is friendly, the location is great and am easy walk to lots of restaurants, the harbor and the Sky Tower. I appreciate the upgrade to a suite as a platinum member. Overall I would probably stay again.

Disappointing service

Location and amenities are good. But service is lacklustre and falls short of expectations for a 5-star hotel. On one of the nights we returned, the aircon was not working - room was at 31.5 degrees celcius despite our troubleshooting. We spoke to front desk who replied that they would send up a fan (this arrived promptly but didn’t do much to improve the situation) and get the maintenance team to take a look. We waited for an hour and called back front desk to ask what the situation /update was - only for the line to be transferred to another person who seemed to have no idea what was going on. They then called us back 2 mins later to tell us that the maintenance team has ended their shift and would offer us a change of room. Disappointed at the lack of follow up and service.
