The Driskill

The Driskill used to be a classy hotel. But “class” is not the word that comes to mind in the way they treated me when I tried to book online as a Christmas gift for my wife. My decision to turn to The Driskill for a good time, instead became an hours-long nightmare. I was routed to a third-party business partnership that botched the reservation, never sent me a confirmation email and never sent an itinerary number. When I tried to find my reservation, both the hotel and its business partner said they couldn’t help because I didn’t have the above information that they failed to give me. However, they certainly knew enough about my reservation to quickly take money out of my credit card account — at the same time they said they couldn’t help me with anything else. It took hours before I was able to cancel everything. When I asked a senior manager at the hotel whether she could understand my frustration, she said she could only understand that the hotel did not directly book the room. She said the hotel considers no accountability for what their partnering company does. There was no effort to apologize. No class. I’d recommend finding a hotel that treats their guests, and their prospective guests, better.

The event staff were helpful in setting up a great wedding weekend. They answered all my questions with ease, and continued to assist even after the weekend occurred. The front desk were great with making all the guests happy and would easily recommend this hotel for any small/large group needing fantastic service ahead.

Our recent stay at The Driskill Hotel was very good. The historic charm of the hotel, with its stunning architecture and elegant interior, creates an atmosphere of timeless luxury. The room was beautiful and well-appointed, with every detail thoughtfully considered. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a restful night’s sleep after a day of exploring the city. We really enjoyed the free tour round the hotel and it was a great chance to hear more about it’s history. The central location in downtown Austin made it easy to walk to nearby attractions. I highly recommend The Driskill Hotel to anyone looking for a memorable stay in Austin.

First going up to the hotel,the views are amazing. Once you walk inside it is absolutely breath-taking with all the old architecture of the building. Check-in was very easy. The staff was exceptionally friendly. The room was immaculate and clean and perfect for just my 1 day stay. The hotel is located centrally to restaurants and entertainment. Everything was exceptional.I will definitely be staying again in the future!

The main floor and bar at the Driskill are stunning! Sure there may be swankier chain hotels in Austin, but we felt the Driskill offered an elegant authentic Austin experience. The beds and linens were top end. Order the Truffle Popcorn and a Bluebonnet cocktail at the bar. You won’t be disappointed. The Huevos Rancheros at 1886 are legendary. We sat next to a gentleman who traveled to the Driskill specifically to enjoy the dish.
