Just the right touch of elegance!

The ambiance of the place is like no other, from the moment you arrive you’re treated with 5 star class. The smell of the lobby, the decor of the bar and sitting area lets you know you’ve arrived in style. The room was gorgeous, the towels and sheets soft , even the bathroom soaps were impressive. I look forward to our next visit, we’re definitely choosing The Van Zandt when we return.

Gorgeous, dog friendly hotel

This hotel is stunning! It is in an excellent location for exploring downtown Austin. The lobby is a gorgeous place to hangout and relax after a long day out. The bed is very comfortable and the bathroom is spacious. Best of all, it is so dog friendly. Our pup was right at home and particularly enjoyed all of the dog treat stations spread out around the lobby.

Beautiful hotel with top notch service. Staff was great, rooms were spotless. A lot of extra touches- like margaritas at check in and helping with shipping freight. Rooms were large and had plenty of outlets for charging. Shower was great. Would definitely stay here again!

I had a fantastic stay! The staff was warm and welcoming, making me feel right at home. Jared and Francisco were both helpful and informative, always ready to ok share recommendations and answer questions. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable experience!

Not worth the money

My partner & I stayed at the Van Zandt having travelled to Austin for the F1 from the UK. Upon check in we were told about a daily $29.95 per person “guest amenity fee” that would be applied - this was explained as being a contribution towards use of hotel WiFi, a free margarita drink each day, use of other facilities such as valet service & restaurants. Given we were international travellers, in town for the F1 we spent very little time at the hotel, I did query these charges with reception but were told they formed part of the cost. For a supposed “high end” hotel to make a point of charging for WiFi use seems bizarre, surely such facilities should be included in the room cost per night (which was not cheap). I note from other reviews by American travellers, this daily charge has been taken exception to by them also, so it isn’t just a case of us not understanding. I will say however, I take exception to hidden fees & these should be made clearer on Booking.com as we have no such thing in the UK. It is my view the hotel was overwhelmed due to the sheer number of travellers in town & staying at the Van Zandt for the F1. I had to ask for our room to be cleaned & for fresh towels which is surely a basic service in any hotel. On check out we were not asked about our stay which I think sums up our experience. My advice to this hotel would be to charge the guests using your services (such as valet) directly - there were plenty using it. Don’t penalise international travellers & make them pay unnecessarily for such services. Sadly won’t be picking this hotel when visiting Austin again.
