Hotel Van Zandt

Modern hotel with friendly and efficient staff. The rooms were very pleasant with good shower and bed. Meeting space was also above average in design and service. Did not try the restaurant (Geraldine). Our group of 125 enjoyed the location. Recommended

I was able to stay at Hotel Van Zandt in Austin during SXSW 2025. This is my first time staying at this hotel as I have seen it before from various times I would pass by walking to Rainey Street. I decided to stay with my partner for 2 nights during weekend 2 of SXSW 2025.  Here are my thoughts: Pro: Close to Downtown Austin The hotel is ideal as its very close to the heart of downtown near the convention center. I'm able to walk to the convention center and other events of SXSW and then walk back to the hotel in ease.  Old fashioned room The room is very rustic and old fashioned in the terms as age. I was astonished on how well kept they made sure the room was for my stay. Con: Bed was very lumpy That is one of the most uncomfortable beds I've ever laid on before! The bed was very lumpy and would sink in when laying down.  No Shower Door There was no shower door in the restroom when I took a shower! I felt like I was going to get water all over the place while I wait for it seem like hours to get hot water. I didn't like this at all!  Rating: 8 out of 10

Great valet service by Isco, amazing hotel! Isco was an energetic outgoing guy and took care of my valet 10/10 service. Hotel was amazing, very clean and very nice people. No issues at all and had a great time with van zandt hotel, thank you Isco!

Pretty hotel, but…. - $29.95 daily “Guest Amenity Fee” (now I know why we were given “free” margaritas) -$59 overnight valet/parking fee (impossible street parking, so you’re stuck) -Valet staff acted like it was an inconvenience to get our vehicle -No shower door, water drenches the toilet area - duvets were covered with two flat sheets rather than a duvet cover, completely impractical & by the end of the night the uncovered duvets are on top of you which,quite frankly, is gross -Hotel is literally right next to a bar that had - a bar is right next door, their music was blaring until the wee hours of the morning (and we were on the west side of the hotel, the bar is on the east side. I can’t imagine how loud it was for people in rooms on the east side of the building) -Beds are uncomfortable -down pillows are flat If you’re coming to Austin to party, this hotel may be for you, otherwise, find somewhere else!

LOVE THIS HOTEL!!!!!! They have rebranded and the service is top notch! Margarita at check in I mean do I need to say more??? The front desk manager Francisco is AMAZING and always so helpful and communicative. This is my go to in Austin for sure!! The ENTIRE staff is so so attentive and responsive! The rooms are clean and comfortable and the suites are spacious!!!! Again love this place!!!! Run don't walk to get here.
