For when you need to lay back, lean in, or get immersed in the flavors and culture of the live music capital of the world, you know something memorable is about to happen at Thompson Austin. A place for locals and visitors to let loose poolside or at the restaurants and bars, where the luxe, contemporary vibe is signature Thompson — bold but not showy, complex yet confidently relaxed. With dramatic Austin cityscape views on display, the residential feel of the accommodations creates a setting to refresh and get ready for anything. Check into rooms, suites or residences offering moody hues, gorgeous custom furnishings, floor-to-ceiling windows with roller shade window coverings, and elegant plank floors in a warm gray wood grain. The custom décor mixes midcentury modern with late-century luxury, resulting in elegant spaces that will make you take pause before heading back out into the city. This untamed urban playground celebrates serious revelry from the moment you encounter the lobby’s airy atmosphere of light and shadow, offset by the bold geode-inspired architecture.

We loved this place! Great location for walking around Austin downtown and South Congress area. Great location for watching family friends run the Austin marathon. Very nice and helpful staff. We loved the pool and the margaritas were awesome!

World Class Hotel and Service. This Hotel will be my first choice when staying in Austin. The Walkability to all The Entertainment on 6th street and Restaurants should be a top choice for all Meeting Professionals or groups planning an event!

The staff was very welcoming and extremely helpful. The hotel chef as working the register at the coffee shop one morning! The bed was quite comfortable and pillows to match. The teams in the hotel's restaurant were also very friendly and well trained.

This is a beautiful, modern hotel right in the heart of the action. It had all the makings of a perfect stay, from the comfortable room complete with high-end toiletries and coffee maker (I am buying this hair dryer for myself!), exceedingly accommodating staff, top-notch housekeeping, excellent location, and amenities that enhanced the Austin experience. We made use of the hotel bikes and rode the lake and surrounding areas, and it was a great way to spend the morning and get out of the downtown area. We were in absolute awe of the included city tours and loved the Live Music and Breakfast Taco tour. They were both a great way to learn more about the food and music scene in Austin. The tour company was excellent! We were appreciative of the checkin and checkout flexibility, and though it could not always be counted on, it certainly was one of the ways we were aware of just how important our needs were to the staff at The Thompson. We felt very seen and appreciated the kindness from start to finish.

We visited to see a concert at The Moody Center. Perfect location, lots of great food options nearby, and very close to all the best parts of Austin. Hotel was clean and classy, and our room was in excellent condition. Be aware - street parking isn’t an option and valet isn’t cheap. We normally factor that into trips like this, but it may come as a surprise to you if you haven’t stayed in Austin before. Highly recommend the Thompson by Hyatt in Austin!
