For when you need to lay back, lean in, or get immersed in the flavors and culture of the live music capital of the world, you know something memorable is about to happen at Thompson Austin. A place for locals and visitors to let loose poolside or at the restaurants and bars, where the luxe, contemporary vibe is signature Thompson — bold but not showy, complex yet confidently relaxed. With dramatic Austin cityscape views on display, the residential feel of the accommodations creates a setting to refresh and get ready for anything. Check into rooms, suites or residences offering moody hues, gorgeous custom furnishings, floor-to-ceiling windows with roller shade window coverings, and elegant plank floors in a warm gray wood grain. The custom décor mixes midcentury modern with late-century luxury, resulting in elegant spaces that will make you take pause before heading back out into the city. This untamed urban playground celebrates serious revelry from the moment you encounter the lobby’s airy atmosphere of light and shadow, offset by the bold geode-inspired architecture.

The pool was closed to all guest because of a floor buyout. You should disclose this at check-in. I booked this hotel only for the pool. Hotel guest across my room had a dog that barked till 1 AM. I called the front desk and they cannot do anything about it.

Wife and I went to experience a downtown stay-cation for our anniversary. The staff went over the top to make the occasion extra special. Overall the staff and amenities are top notch. Some people mention the rooms are small, we didn't have that experience; we stayed in a suite.

I was at the Thompson Austin for business, staying 5 nights. Check-in was seamless, even with a lobby full of wedding attendees preparing to leave for the ceremony! Front desk staff was personable, professional and very courteous. The room was very clean and comfortable; loved the rainhead shower. The food was mostly good; the "dry-aged" angus burger tasted quite bland, like it had been frozen for a long time. But the salmon and other meal options were delicious. The 22% service charge for in-room dining includes gratuity for the staff; I'm not sure how much, so know that before adding more tip on top of it. The IRD staff was always kind and punctual, so I did give a bit more. I'd recommend this place for small meetings and its relaxed, upscale atmopshere. (This was the Thompson, not the Tommie - though they are in the same building.)

This is a fantastic hotel! Every singe staff member I interacted with over the 4 day stay was just fabulous! They were all so friendly, helpful and just down right nice. The hotel was modern and charming with amazing amenities. I was in a room overlooking the beautiful pool area. I would recommend this hotel and would stay there again.
