The St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort

Chose this property for its proximity to the Bal Harbour shop restaurants and the fact they had "private" day villas for rent. Our room was spacious with a great view and all the staff we encountered were exceptional. The spa was lovely. We rented a day villa for both days we were there. They are pricey on the weekends but very nice with your own bathroom and excellent butler service. However, the villas are separated by a narrow sparse hedge and you can see and hear the people in the next villa -- NOT private at all. Our first day there was a crying newborn next to us. The second day we had a family of 11 people (6 adults and 5 kids) who were extremely loud! The website clearly states the maximum number of people allowed in a villa is 4. We complained to management and they moved the disruptive family to a different villa but they could still be heard. Two hours later a family of 12 (6 adults, 6 kids) were also given a villa. Obviously the "maximum" number of guests is not enforced. If they are going to allow large families to rent the villas they should have a separate area for them. It was not a peaceful experience and we felt a bit cheated after spending so much to be pampered. We would not rent a villa again knowing the lack of enforcement of their own policy. There are only two lounge chairs per villa and a picnic table in the outside area. There is a small couch in an air conditioned room. The villas are really set up for 2 people. The beach and pools are nice but be aware on windy days they cannot open the umbrellas so there is no shade to be had.

Hotel is not up the St. Regis 5 star standards. The property does not have a fine dining experience and you have to leave the property to find one. The rooms have not been renovated since the property opened. The property is in disrepair and in litigation for many health and life safety violations. It’s all public record and I would not stay here until the repair the property.

The property is well worth its 5 star rating. From the champagne at check in to random sweet treats for the girls over the Labor Day weekend. They honored our titanium status with an upgrade to a gorgeous 2 bedroom oceanfront suite. The buffet breakfast was outstanding, we will definitely return

My wife and stayed here two nights after a return from the Caribbean. The resort is beautiful, all staff went all out to provide anything we needed. I am a lifetime platinum member and was offered a suite upgrade, full (and I mean FULL) breakfast for two each day and generally made to feel as if my brand loyalty mattered. PROS: - Service was impeccable all around - Property/room were clean and beautiful - Breakfast was fantastic - Balcony was clean and had comfortable chairs for enjoying a cup of coffee - Pool/outdoor areas were immaculate and well serviced - Beach chairs and service were top-notch - Brand loyalty seemed to matter to the resort - Cocktails were well made - Nice shopping right across the street CONS: - The pizza we ordered at the beach arrived lukewarm at best and took quite a while to be delivered to us.
