The Indian Ocean sparkles beneath the cliffside villas of Bulgari Hotels & Resorts, Bali like sapphires in one of the luxury brand’s trademark necklaces. No surprise that accommodations here are a class act – designed by Italian architectural firm Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel and Partners, villas and multi-room mansions fuse Mediterranean and Balinese elements into interiors accented by jewel-toned, locally woven textiles. Internationally acclaimed spa brand ESPA lends its natural skincare products to treatments that draw upon ancient Indonesian traditions, and details such as flower offering baskets by the doors of the villas honor local culture. The resort also supports a community scholarship program.

I never write reviews, but this place deserves recognition. The level of service is something you'd expect from a hotel twice the price. The rooms are thoughtfully designed with plenty of charging ports and workspace, perfect for business travelers. The hotel restaurant serves some of the best food I've had - even locals come here to dine. The staff's ability to anticipa

This resort is possibly my favorite of all the resorts/hotels I've been to. I knew it'd be great from the pictures, but the reality exceeded my expectations. The villa, amenities, restaurants, and beach club were spectacular. The staff is so hospitable and communicates quickly and efficiently. Parma, who was assigned to communicate with us was excellent and very accommodating. He made our stay as comfortable as possible. We also had Bvlgari gifts dropped in our villa every night which was a nice touch. This is possibly the best resort in Bali and I'm glad we picked it for our stay in Uluwatu.

On the cliffs at Uluwatu, Bulgari is apart from the chaos that is Denpasar. The resort tops a steep cliff and site and rooms face south into the Indian Ocean. By far the most compelling reason to visit is its remarkable beach. When we visited, there was fourteen foot surf (which due to the steep cliffs we could not actually hear from our room). There is a 300 yard long funicular lift down to the beach, where there is a two story shack/restaurant and a beach club with lounge chairs and a small bar. We had all our lunches (food was delicious) at the restaurant, and LOVED our service. Thank you, Surya, Pandi and Niko for your friendly companionship. (Niko is a killer photographer). The resort itself is ultra-luxe. The rooms are, believe it or not, both larger and fancier than any of the Amans we have stayed it, full of beautiful dark wood, high ceilings and many with pools and decks, as well as large outside living areas. We had a butler, Stephanus, who was omnipresent and super helpful. We have never been fans of Bulgari's heavy handed high fashion jewelry (who can afford?) and the nearly three foot high Bulgari logo below the pool was (candor is warranted here) ultra-cheesy. But this is a really fine resort, with beautiful facilities and exceptional personal service. Worth a visit! (The taxi ride to/from airport was an hour and a half and super depressing. Tourism has not been kind to this lovely island).

Giving this 5 stars as we booked this on points and were overwhelmed with the beauty of the property and the room. I read these reviews prior to booking and in my opinion the pictures and descriptions of the rooms don’t do them justice. They are large and well laid out to feel super special. Two smart Toto toilets and a dressing hall add to the convenience of the layout. The only improvement I would suggest is having 2 shower heads. We had a cliff side villa and you could hear the waves roll in from bed - it was awesome. The bar at sunset was one of the most picturesque places I have ever been in my life, and the seaside restaurant and beach area were very special. The resort did not feel over-run with other guests, it felt very private. All these positives probably overshadowed a few areas for improvement. Overall we were not impressed with the food on the property. Breakfast was bland and the appertivo they give you at the bar was a nice touch in theory, but was mediocre in taste. We ate at Il Ristorante, and while a fun experience - did not feel this was worth it. The only thing I would order again was the waygu. The staff was incredibly friendly but slow and not super attentive (with the beach bar being an exception here). The butler service was a bit disjointed and no different than having a central concierge desk with many workers at it. I would definitely recommend the hotel to others, it achieved our goals of marking the end of our trip in an incredibly beautiful, romantic, and special way - but will depend on what you are optimizing for.
