At Kimpton Hotel Monaco Baltimore Inner Harbor, we put you on the fast track to luxury, comfort, and urban adventure. Our grand 202-room boutique hotel resides in the historic B&O Railroad Headquarters in downtown Baltimore, near the beautiful Inner Harbor waterfront. At one time, our ornate, 1906 Beaux-Arts building buzzed with the comings and goings of the Gilded Age's power players. Today, we keep business and leisure travelers connected to the exciting offerings of Charm City with our central downtown location near the Baltimore Convention Center, National Aquarium, Oriole Park at Camden Yards, and Johns Hopkins University. And, among other accolades, we’re proud to have recently been named a Top Wedding Venue by the Baltimore Sun.

As others have said, nice building and great staff. But maintenance on rooms just isn’t there, and I blame management. No towel hook or anything near shower in giant bathroom. No luggage rack. No coffee in room. Lamps blinking and run down. Tv provides no sense of channels much less any guide to what’s on. Plumbing is extremely loud, so shower is unpleasant but also I had to listen to it in the middle of the night from next door. The poor staff cannot keep up with what management is letting fall apart. I can’t believe it’s a Klimpton.

Our least favorite Kimpton, no room service even though it says there is, no mini bar, no robes. Shower was terrible, sprayed all over the slippery tiled floor. Room was decent, clean and large. When i asked why they put a $75 hold on the room for 'incidentals' when there were not incidentals, she said well in case you break something. Ok then!!!! Restaurant downstairs is busy so you must make a reservation

This Kimpton Hotel Monaco is housed in a gorgeous building in downtown Baltimore. So, the building is historic, and the location could not be beat for our short stay in Baltimore. That said, the room felt a little sterile, and this part of town really empties out after 5pm and on weekends, so be aware, but you are a short walk or car ride from just about everything the city has to offer (If you are attending an event at the CFG area, this is a perfect spot). Still, the service was quite good, the room was clean and spacious and the bed was soft.

Don’t get me wrong, this place was beautiful. I mean it was a historic building, over 120 yrs old. But it also felt that way too. We stayed two nights. My issue was the room. First off the blinds did not roll up and roll down. My husband has to consistently pull the metal rope over and over for it to move a little bit. After we just gave up on it and left it closed. Secondly there was a plastic broken knife under the covers! My husband didn’t notice that he slept on it until the morning. I let the front desk know and nothing was offered to accommodate us. Was truly a disappointment considering such a highly rated hotel. Made me realize that we were sleeping in dirty sheets, but we were so tired after being in Bethesda at NIH hospital that week that we just dealt with it. We didn’t feel comfortable to have them go in our room to change the sheets. There was also a live concert going on outside both nights we stayed. I know we are in downtown Baltimore and noise is evident but you could at least warn us or compensate us for this inconvenience that other hotels in the past had done for us. Lastly, we were not informed that there was a Veterans Day parade that would shut down Charles st in front of the hotel on our last morning of departure. I had called a Lyft unknowingly and the valet staff said asks us if we had a car and I said no we’re waiting for a ride and he said the street was closed! We had 2 large luggage’s which we had to carry 3 blocks over to an area that was open. Very disappointed being that we had to do this to trek all the way to DCA that morning. We had to cancel our first Lyft because he took has having a hard time trying to find a way in. Why didn’t the kimpton warn us of this? They knew for months that there was a parade! Like why not tell your guests! Kimpton Monaco seemed like a beautiful highly rated hotel but I would skip it with all these flaws. Truly disappointed that I spend my hard earned points on this hotel.

Beautiful old building – 1906 – former HQ of B&O Railroad. Room is nicely designed but all furniture and fixtures are very tired – sorely in need of maintenance. 1. Half the lights in the bathroom vanity are out. 2. The adjustable mirror (won’t stay in a useful position) and the toilet paper holder (wobbly) in the bathroom are loose. 3. The rug has carpet tacks sticking out – cut my foot. 4. The thermostat is literally held together with, literally, scotch tape. 5. One of the three lighting fixtures in the main room is just a bare light bulb. The only light at the desk doesn’t work. 6. Three of the five drawers in the main room chest/cabinet are off their track. 7. No bathrobe, slippers, bottled/purified water, toothbrush/paste, penn&paper, coffee/tea in rooms… only cheap disposable plastic cups – this feels like a Motel 6. 8. Paint peeling on bathroom ceiling, paint on many fixtures/furniture is chipped and old. Nice looking room (but outdated, not classic) – 3.5*/5*. Amenities – 2*/5*. Maintenance – 1*/5*. OVERALL – 2*/5* stars.
