Overall experience for my family in a standard room was 3 start. There is an obvious and definate divide between vip guest and standard guest. We had been offered the option to upgrade to elite package but it was $53 usd per person per day over$1,100 to upgrade to a suite with access to butler service with room service as well as premium top shelf drinks and soda including elite resturant with the good food. What we got was still a beautiful room clean and well laid out. For the first couple of days all was good resort was being cleaned round the clock service was top notch and food was pretty good. What we found was the reason for that was there was a special even that had nothing to do with the paying guests at the hotel. We all got inconvienced big time having to sit and watch in the shadows as the management showed off to the vip deligates large quantities of vodka gin whiskey you name it they had it. We had rum. Lobby bar and snack back had white rum amber rum dark rum spiced rum no vodka no tequila no gin pretty much every brand of cheap rum. No soda just juice Only vip guest had premium drinks with soda. This is where there is a noticable devide between standard guest and vip. Vip get elite resturant with quality food. Standard guest get a la cart which i didnt really find any different then buffet food only arranged differently between asian italian and indian. The buffet was ok eggs everyday. They ran out of fries after 3rd day they only had fries at snack bar. Chocolate ice cream ran out soda ran out. Buffet got annoying after 3rd day no selection. The pictures people post are deceiving. Basically its ham or chirizo done 4 different ways cucumbers done so many ways thats the same with white sweet potatoe and yucca all done different way. The fish was just labelled fish it looked the same just different sauce each day. Buffet 3.5 star Pool 4 star Layout was good pool is clean but very cold. Main pool jacuzzi was empty for most of the week then was filled but only half the jets work. Beach 4 star Compared to all the beaches in cuba ive been to nothing can compare to the beaches of cayo largo so im bias everything else is 4star Overall for the standard room guests the service is ok its not 5 star by any means even in room you get a bottle of water but no mini bar. Room is cleaned daily they do a great job. At the lobby you will get your own drinks most of the time the buffet you will eat the same repetive food just rearranged and done 4 ways. At the pool you will get your own drinks and same at the beach. For vip its a different world even the vip guests think they are better often making comments if you want better join the elite and here is what i hear alot and this brings the point to my star rating. They say once you stay vip why would you settle for standard. That just proves that standard is not 5 star. Vip guest get priority over any standard guest also returning guests they get priority of standard guest. Its very noticable if its your first visit. This was my first visit. Ive honestly had better food and service at 3 star smaller resorts where your not judged on your vip status. So to wrap it up its a clean resort but a definate divide between elite/vip and standard guest. Beach and pool good resort ground nice well kept. Not enough garbage cans though. Good for kids dont have high expectations. Food well we didnt go hungry. Drinks... im so sick of rum. I cant recommend this resort because i disagree on the elite/vip divide with standard room only offered to families you cant discrimiate against families with kids. The upgrade is very expensive and not fair as if you are in adults only the cost difference is only a fraction of what families have to pay. Would i return yes

One of the best hotels I've visited in Cuba, staff was very service oriented and delivered with a smile. Especially Annie (picture) who worked in the loby bar and allways had my coffee ready and served it with a smile and remembered my name. I've allways stayed at lower rated resorts in cuba and this one in particular was at another level. I can recommend this resort.

My husband and me are coming to this hotel since they opened in 2021. We have stayed in some others hotels around but we can say is the best Resort in Holguin area at this moment. Actually we are right now here for 1 month in a half.....The rooms are very comfortable and clean, the maids do a really good job specially mine, her name is Yoxaris in 5th floor. All the bars offer a good variety of drinks for all taste, the personal from the service are excellent. At the lobby bar we want to mention some names who are doing a great job: Yordi, Yaima, Ariel, Kirenia, Julio, Orlan, Adàn, Dayamì, Alex, Adriano, Rotney, Lisbet, Michel, Arianna, Maikel, Norge, ..etc...I can list all of them because they are all the time ready to help and prepare you the best drinks in a short time...At the beach bar we like to recognize the job of Yasmani, Richel, Aniel and Yalili, they are serving lots of drink every day and always with a smile in the face and good mood. At the snack bar we want to mention the good job of Marileisi as captain in charge and also to recognize the good job of Leydis, Erica and the others. Pablo and Alexei at the disco bar do a fantastic job. All the restaurants offer a tasty food from the buffet to the a la carte ones. Robert is doing a great job at the Italian restaurant, also Jorge and the girls; Yudy at the Asian restaurant, the cooks and the service; the Hindu restaurant also offer a very tasty food. The service at the buffet is good too, Arnoldo and Alejandro are doing a good job. Alejandro was working before at the snack bar, after at the VIP restaurant for few days , despite his age, he is a very good worker, he deserve to be in the best working places because of his professionalism and impecable job. The gardens are very well maintained and this is because of the good job of the gardeners. The maids from the exteriors areas deserve a recognition too. The front desk personal are doing their best always to accommodate the clients, same as the bellboys. Tony and the girls at public relation are doing a great job too. The security guards deserve to be mentioned too because they are taking care of us 24 hours which is not easy...The entertainment team is great, including all the DJ and the dance group, Disney, Alex, Lily, Cesar are only few names from the team who are doing an excellent job down the direction of Nolberto. We want to give an special recognition to the workers from the VIP section, rooms, bar, restaurant, pool....all of them are such a hard working people... At the Elite Restaurant we want to congratulate the work of all of them, the ones working during the day and the ones working during the night, they tried to satisfy the wish of everybody and their service is impecable, some of them are Albert, Yoa, Leimaris, Olia, Ari, Jose, Elianis, Yenima, Anna, Yadiàn...at the bar Leydis and Alex. We can say the management is doing a really good job maintaining this hotel at the highest standard despite all the obstacles...Thank you to everyone at Gran Muthu Almirante Beach for make our holidays a wonderful and unforgettable time. We recommend it 100%

We had an incredible stay at this hotel!! The beach is absolutely beautiful, and we loved that there are plenty of beach chairs for everyone to enjoy. Our room was very nice and clean with a beautiful view to a well maintained gardens, thank you to the ground-keeper team. I'd also like to mention Alan from the animation team, who made every day fun with his activities and warm personality. The hotel truly exceeded our expectations, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and fun vacation.:)

After reading so many positive 5 star reviews about the Amirante, it was a huge disappointment. I was afraid to travel to Cuba again hearing how bad the supply chain had become. Having been to Varadero, Holguin, Cayo Coco in the past, I was never disappointed in the food or drink but always found the quality and variety to be quite acceptable. Not this time. Alcoholic beverages were subpar - no mix the majority of the time, which means no cola for Cuba libre or Cubatas. While Gin was occasionally available, there was no tonic water, nor vermouth to make martinis. We found vodka at the beach bar near the end of the week but never any of the other hotel bars. Digestifs like Baileys, amaretto, gran Marnier etc do not exist. Fridges in the room are only stocked with water and not routinely replenished (never ever at any all inclusive in Cuba or elsewhere do you not at least have some beer in the fridge). The lobby bar police frown upon you taking a drink to your room, whether it was alcoholic or a cafe in the morning - again, have never experienced this anywhere. The food also was a lunch bag let down. Being a Caribbean island, it was sad not to have mussels and shrimp available. Lobster was only for those who had VIP access or were willing to pay for it. The fish fillets that were available at the ala carte and buffets were indiscernible, often fishy but always called Mahi Mahi. The vegetables and fresh fruit were a huge disappointment. Papaya, dried out orange slices, guava and a tasteless seedy white watermelon were the only regular fruit. Vegetable were even more scarce - onions and tomatoes made rare appearances but were quickly devoured. No lettuce, carrots, or broccoli but if you like cucumber then there is plenty. As a matter of fact the Amirante devotes entire buffet stations to cucumber - sliced, diced, Julian style, etc. This was a common theme - entire stations devoted to jello or pork that was labelled as mortadella, chorizo or ham but all looked the same and were constantly recycled. Same for cheese - no variety just queso cut up differently. In the past, wheels of parmesan and prosciutto could be found in Cuba but sadly, not in today's economic environment. The ala carte restaurants did not fare much better. The Indian restaurant was decent but spices were lacking and the portions small. The Italian restaurant is to be avoided at all costs if you have any appreciation for Italian cooking. The teppanyaki was the best of the ala carte in my opinion but lacked seafood, although the service was very attentive. Many other guests that I spoke with expressed the same sentiments regarding the disappointing food and beverages. Interestingly though, there seems to be a lack of these comments in the reviews which makes one doubt their validity or maybe people have never travelled to a true 5 star Resort with no basis for comparison or are now just accepting subpar quality in their meals due to the affordability of the resort. The reason I would give the resort a poor rating rather than a terrible rating is the resort is new and the rooms nicely furnished with beautiful views of the ocean. The pools and the grounds are well maintained and the staff in general are friendly hard working individuals except for the front desk and customer service staff. One needs to go to Cuba recognising the hardships that exist on the island - expectations need to be severely tempered if you plan on visiting Muthu Almirante.
