All in all enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The room was large but as others have said they do need to be updated. The breakfast - undeniably AMAZING! I booked the breakfast rate with 2 drink vouchers to the Sky Bar. My husband and I went up to visit the Sky Bar with 2 friends of ours. We were stopped and told we could not go up yet and needed to stay at this other bar because there was too many people at the Sky Bar. I knew this was a scam to get us to order even more expensive drinks at this bar (don't remember the name). I told her I did not have any interest to be at this bar and wanted to go directly to the Sky Bar. She kept snapping back at me that we could not and had to wait as she pushed drink menus at us. I was a bit embarrassed as this was taking place in front of our friends. I looked at the drink menu and it was even more expensive than the Sky Bar drinks. I then walked up to her away from our table and explained again we did not want to be there, and my husband and I were guests at the hotel and we had 2 drink vouchers to use at the Sky Bar. Oh!!! she said you have vouchers - no problem my co-worker will bring you up. This put a very bad taste in my mouth. At least get to know who you are trying to scam.

Comparing this hotel to Hyatt Regency Sukhumvit (the only other Bangkok hotel I’ve stayed in), the Lebua disappoints. The Hyatt isn’t perfect, but it’s newer so it has a certain elegance about it. Sukhumvit area is more fun/lively. I didn’t get as good a vibe about the Lebua hotel or surrounding area. The aesthetics of the Lebua hotel look great, impressive enough lobby, but it’s the run-down nature of the bedrooms that leave a lasting impression. The furniture feels very 90’s originals. Needs an overhaul. However, the bed is comfortable and the linen crisp and clean. View of the river is excellent. Hot water had a mind of its own. Had to call maintenance, who quickly made it better, but still offering mercurial temperatures on a whim. Also, in the bedroom, you can hear your neighbours clearly conversing (no sound proofing). Staff are excellent at all levels, as you’d expect of the wonderful Thai culture (which I’m in love with). I didn’t go to the bars or restaurants, so I can’t comment. However, the rest of Bangkok’s visitors want to - so be prepared to have to wait longer than you want, to share the few elevators with every tourist who has the Sky Bar on their bucket list. I recommend the Lebua provides a separate elevator for bar tourists.

While (most of) the staff are wonderfully helpful, unfortunately, the hotel is no longer. My third visit, this time with my adult children, plus the eldest’s fiancé, as I wanted them to experience it once. Sadly they'd 'upgraded' us to a 3 bed suite after I booked a 2 bed suite. The 2 bed suites, while still dated (and that is no issue, as I'm not there for the furniture), are still maintained a tad better than the 3 bed ones, wherein even the small things are falling apart. We had loose door handles, completely loose backplates, power point cover plates coming off of the walls, light switches, VERY old & rusted stovetop, sliding balcony doors out of alignment and off hinges, and don't close properly. The bedrooms and bathrooms still in decent condition, albeit old veneer cupboards / cabinetry, but the beds are comfy and the shower & bath don't leak. The pool bar drinks are still very pricey, min. ฿790, up to avg ฿1200, with no real reason, oddly changed in flavours, too, which don't work when you're after a classic cocktail, but the Sky Bar, HOLY CRAP has that gone up. Yes, the view is spectacular but with an average (i.e. standard) cocktail price of ฿1500, then moving to one with a few more ingredients, ending up at ฿2000, is absolutely not worth it, even with the view and the music. The 'ambience' has changed, too, while people are people, there were definitely less posers 10 to 20 years ago; there were more classically refined guests who smiled and had a chat about the view, their experiences, their reason for visiting, etc. That, sadly, exists no longer; more posers too interested in their own self and thinking they're impressing others. The club rooms, at more than twice the average room price, are better maintained, but even that is no longer worth it. I've stayed thrice, my children have been there now, and there are plenty more options available. Sadly it'll be my last stay.

Exceptional hotel with amazing views and most helpful staff I have ever met. We stayed here for one night only got upgraded to a suite which was huge. We had great city views from our room but the roof top bars on the 64th floor blew me away. The rooms were clean. The breakfast was outstanding so many stations from around the world there was nothing left out. The only negative I would say is the cost of the drinks and food on the roof top bars. This was very pricey around £20 a drink. We had small appetisers and these were @6500 bhat.

Lebua exceeded our expectations. The property beautifully adorned with flowers and guests are greeted upon arrival with great hospitality. The bellmen manage your luggage as a concierge escorts you to a seating area, serves you a damp towel to cleanse your face or hands, then tea as the front desk checks you in. The rooms are appropriately appointed and have beautiful views of the city. Bottles waters are refreshed in the room twice per day. Breakfast buffet is outstanding! The food was excellent and provides a variety of foods from many cultures. The restaurant selections are many with a variety of cuisine. Try all the roof top bars for memorable views of the city. Although busy around the hotel, I would venture out to the newer Siam Discovery and Tower area for dinner. Cabs or tuktuks are always available. An excellent choice for staying in Bangkok
