I’m amazed this hotel is actually linked with the Shangri la group and reputation. The check in was a joke. Only 1 person on the desk and she then proceeded to answer the telephone 3 times whilst in the middle of trying to sort us. At 4 pm our room was ready but there was a problem in the bathroom!! When asked if this was the only room in the entire hotel available we were allocated another one. The room is tired and frankly totally unappealing. 1 of the bedside lights didn’t work at all and on the other side my husband and I woken during the night by random flickering on and off. ? Electrics. To be reported….. To go to breakfast is an 8 minute walk up and down stairs so as my husband has limited mobility this is not ideal. Think hard before booking….. Very disappointing

Beautiful hotel, right on the river within walking distance of the pier for all the boats that take you up and down the river including the hop on hop off boat. Fabulous position also close to the sky train. We only had breakfast booked but it was amazing, it set you up for the day, there was nothing they didn't have! They even made smoothies to your own recipe, freshly cooked food if desired. The outside restaurant had amazing views of the river which is the heart of Bangkok and where everything happens. Our room was on the 21st floor with the greatest views both day and night. Pool was a little cold but plenty of sunbeds avaliable. The only downside was we stayed 3 nights and they 'forgot' to clean our room one day even though we had put the sign out.

We loved our stay at Shangri La. The hotel lobby, rooms and floors were impeccable as well as the service. We had a river room with the most amazing view - it was lovely to wake up to a beautiful view in the morning but equally at night watching at the boats with the lights go past. The hotel is very centrally located, with the train not too far away, as well as a boat shuttle over to the amazing Icon Siam and a boat taxi to take you to many of the famous sites including the Grand Palace and Wat Arun. The hotel has an on site spa as well as a pool with a bar nearby, heaps of seating and even a massage right by the river - heaven! There were a heap of on-site shops including a shop with beautiful painted elephants - so much choice, I just couldn't choose!! The best part though- the breakfast buffet with just about any type of breakfast you want. An egg station to cook any type of eggs you want, as well as other options such as yummy kebabs cooked to order and options for different cultures like curries and rice. All to eat in a stunning setting by the river. Don't miss this one! Oh, and I had the yummiest cocktail ever - a lemon drop! Definitely recommend. Would most certainly consider a stay here again.

From January 4 to 5, 2025 we were staying in the rooms 1118 and 2015 at the Shangri-La Bangkok. • Both our rooms 1118 and 2015 were very dirty! • The AC filters of both rooms were very dusty and moldy which is a severe health issue and threat! • In both bathrooms and especially in the showers was mold between the tiles! The very poor condition and cleanliness of our bathrooms cannot be considered five star standard; every youth hostel has cleaner bath rooms! • The carpets in our rooms were dirty and dusty; the dirt of the previous guests was not properly removed! • Dirt was sticking on the windows and around the bath tab! • The balcony was dirty as well and obviously has not been cleaned for weeks, maybe even for months. • Overall, the rooms are outdated and do not represent 5 star standards at all. • Besides, the breakfast buffet was not well maintained; the staff was not able to keep up with the high frequency at breakfast time. Nobody took proper care of the dirt on the tables, the floor and especially around the buffet itself. • The staff itself seemed to be rather unexperienced and not interested in their paying guests at all. When showing the awful pictures to the front desk, the staff was not really interested in the concerns and complaints at all and did not take care about any of the mentioned issues. Neither were our rooms properly cleaned afterwards nor have we been offered other rooms (maybe because all the Shangri-La Bangkok rooms have the same poor hygienic standard?). Upon departure I have once again informed the front desk as well as the duty manager in charge about our very bad experience at Shangri-La Bangkok, showed once again the awful pictures of dirt, dust and mold and reminded the staff to provide us with clean rooms for our upcoming stay. Although I had also shared my feedback through the Shangri-La feedback form I have not received any response yet. When returning to this property, we will find out whether we will be assigned • two clean, preferable refurbished and renovated rooms • without mold and dirt in the bathrooms, • with a vacuumed and dust-free floor, • without sticking dirt on the furniture, around the bath tub and • with a clean and properly maintained AC unit with clean filters without dust, dirt and mold. To summarize, the stay in the aged, badly maintained and and even worse managed Shangri-La Bangkok was a true shock and far below any experience with any other Shangri La property so far. I have not stayed in such an awful hotel for a long time, especially not in a Shangri-La. Thus, we will find out whether the Shangri-La management provides us with a better experience during our upcoming stay. Otherwise this will be my/our last stay in a Shangri-La property.

It is sad to see the decline of the Krungthep Wing. For many years me and my family used to stay at the Valley Wing at Shangri-La Singapore and the Krungthep wing in Bangkok. While the Valley has improved over the years, the same cannot be said for the Krungthep Wing. The Breakfast service has been discontinued, after the Afternoon Tea which was stopped after Covid. Such a beautiful Lounge is being totally wasted! The Rooms also look dated and need urgent renovation. When i checked in there was hot water running from the cold water taps! With the new competion from Cappela and Four Seasons, Shangri-La needs to up its game or lose loyal customers.

I noticed that I had lost all the documentation pertaining to my booking as I was checking in at the Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok. It did not seem to matter, since they had all the details of my booking, and to my great surprise I was given an upgrade in the King Kungthrup Wing. An unforgettable experience.
