The Siam Hotel

Pre-Arrival (10/10) Our experience with The Siam began even before we set foot in Thailand. After posting an inquiry on the Bangkok luxury hotel forum on FlyerTalk, I was pleasantly surprised when Khun Nick, the General Manager of The Siam, personally reached out to me. From that moment, his team was exceptionally proactive, helping me with a reservation for 4 nights in late October and responding to all our requests and queries via email. As this was our first trip to Thailand, we had numerous questions, and they handled each one with patience and thoroughness, setting the tone for the exceptional service we would receive throughout our stay. Arrival (10/10) Upon landing in Bangkok, we were greeted by a Siam executive at the assigned exit gate. We were swiftly whisked away in a comfortable BMW 7-series, making the journey to the hotel a breeze. Upon arrival at The Siam, Khun Nick warmly welcomed us. As we stepped inside, we were immediately captivated by Bill Bensley’s ingenious design that seamlessly brings the outside in. The lush greenery and intricate details created a luxurious ambiance and intimately connected with nature. Location (9/10) The Siam is uniquely situated as an urban resort that makes you not want to leave the hotel grounds. Nestled along the riverside, the hotel’s location is both peaceful and convenient. The private shuttle boat service is a huge boon for tourists, offering a scenic and efficient way to navigate Bangkok while avoiding its infamous traffic. The surrounding area is tranquil, with several government buildings nearby, adding to the sense of security and serenity. Rooms (9/10) We stayed in the main building, which houses all the suites, and were delighted to be upgraded from an entry-level Siam Suite to a Garden View Suite. The layout resembles a junior suite, with heavy curtains separating the lounging area from the bedroom. Each suite has a unique theme; ours featured a Muay Thai motif that added a cultural touch to our stay. The interiors are crafted in traditional Thai style with subtle Western influences—think plenty of dark wood and antique pieces from the owner’s collection. Sustainability is clearly a priority: water is provided in large, sealed glass bottles, and organic toiletries are offered in refillable marble dispensers. The smart TV included options for YouTube, Prime Video, and Netflix, ensuring we had plenty of entertainment options. Service and Amenities (9/10) The service at The Siam is nothing short of exemplary. Our butler, Khun Nat, was attentive and anticipated our every need. At breakfast, Khun Su made each morning delightful with her warm greetings and impeccable service. The housekeeping staff maintained our room impeccably, and although we didn’t catch all their names, their efforts did not go unnoticed. The hotel boasts a 24-hour gym equipped with a Muay Thai boxing ring, a testament to the country’s rich martial arts heritage. We spent time in the well-stocked library, perusing books from the owner’s collection, and enjoyed a cozy evening in the private movie room where we could screen our favorite Netflix or Prime movies on a projector. Music enthusiasts will appreciate the vinyl room overlooking the river—a perfect spot to unwind. The pool is ideal for both laps and relaxation, and our toddler daughter often had it all to herself. The Opium Spa deserves special mention; the breathtaking setting and the super-skilled therapists, especially our therapist (also named Khun Su), provided us with the best treatments we’ve ever experienced, using luxurious Sodashi amenities. Dining (9/10) Dining at The Siam was a delightful experience. Chon Thai Restaurant, the all-day dining venue, offered a fantastic selection of Western and Thai à la carte dishes for breakfast. We also dined at Story House for dinner and were consistently impressed with the quality and presentation of the food. While the in-suite dining menu could benefit from a few more options, the team was more than willing to accommodate off-menu requests, showcasing their commitment to guest satisfaction. Departure (10/10) Our seamless checkout process reflected the overall efficiency and warmth of our stay. Although we missed seeing Khun Nick due to his illness, his colleague, Khun Nawee, ensured everything was in order. He was attentive to our feedback regarding the signing policy and the occasional instances where staff didn’t address us by name, acknowledging our comments with professionalism. Value for Money (10/10) We took advantage of The Siam’s “Stay 3, Pay 2” offer, which they extend almost throughout the season. This effectively reduced our daily rate to THB 18,000++, which is exceptional value considering the unparalleled quality of service and amenities offered. In a city renowned for luxury accommodations, The Siam stands out as offering exceptional value for the level of luxury provided. Probability of Revisiting (10/10) This is only the second time we’ve found ourselves planning our next visit during our current stay—a testament to how extraordinary our experience was. We are already looking forward to returning to The Siam next year. We also learned about their upcoming resort in Chiang Mai, which is said to be even more special. While we’re a bit saddened that it won’t be ready until 2028, the anticipation only adds to our eagerness to experience more of what The Siam team has to offer.

Anyone familiar with Bill Bensley's recent projects - Bali, Vietnam, Siem Reap etc. - will be expecting a stunning property. The Siam won't disappoint. But even better is how the owners - a Thai family who apparently have a long history in hotels - have assembled a superb GM and charming staff, together with a splendidly elegant river launch and numerous other small touches, for their flagship property. It all combines to make The Siam the best place to stay in Bangkok. Bar none. The celebrated MO may have lots of history and a more convenient location but The Siam has better rooms, even more character and is simply nicer. Not inexpensive but for what you get, good value.

The Siam WOW WOW WOW!!!. There aren’t enough words to describe the incredible experience that we have had staying for three nights at this amazing hotel. I write this review with tears in my eyes as we pull away heading to the airport….because I felt like I had to say goodbye to our new family. Not only is the hotel absolutely stunning- it’s the service that makes a stay here one that you will never forget. There is no stone left unturned when it comes to making you feel taken care of and like you are their most treasured guest- doing all this with personalized care to each and every guest. When we arrived, the hotel manager Nick, along with the bellmen, were waiting on the steps for us- expecting our arrival. The Thai culture and people are so incredibly caring and friendly- so very different for us from the United States. We were whisked away by Nick, and invited to sit and enjoy some fresh pressed juice and a cool towel. It was here that we met Sumet, our butler, who quickly turned in to our best friend. We arrived quite early so our room was not ready. We were escorted down to the waterfront restaurant and treated to breakfast (much needed after 25 hours of travel). The grounds…absolutely stunning and beautiful maintained. From the lush tropical decor to the infinity pools, we were just in awe. And the room….so classy and chic and HUGE by US standards. By far the most luxurious and comfortable bed we have ever slept in! Sumet….our amazing butler ❤️ He tended to our every need and quickly got a sense of what type of travelers we were. He sat down with us when we first arrived and looked over our plans for the 3 jam packed days we had planned and offered a few tips. He requested one night to plan an evening for us….and what a treat it was! On his own personal time, he took us on a private night tour in Bangkok. We got to see Bangkok through his eyes, meandering down some of the streets in Chinatown, stopping at a locals rooftop bar and enjoying a lovely cocktail as we got to learn more about the city. Finally, Sumet had made a reservation for us at an incredible restaurant, Charmgang, escorted us to the restaurant and politely left us to enjoy the best meal we had in Bangkok. Sumet is a special human and one that we quickly grew to love and will never forget. Every single person that works at the Siam is so happy, caring, and willing and eager to please. It is a very special group of people that work here and take staying at a 5 star resort to the next level. I had emailed the hotel prior to our arrival to see if they could set up a small little something for my husband. We had just gotten married and I wanted to have a framed picture from our wedding waiting in the room with a cold bottle of champagne. While keeping it a secret, they printed our digital picture and had it set up in our room. Such a special touch ❤️ So Nick, Sumet, and everyone else that took care of our every need….THANK YOU!!!! You made the start to our honeymoon one that we will never ever forget. When I say you became family, you truly did. Your personalized touches and incredible hospitality are so appreciated. Thank you Siam….we will never forget you all!!!

Our stay at The Siam was an absolute pleasure, even though we arrived in the middle of the night due to an unexpected flight diversion. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, greeting us with welcome drinks and a thorough introduction to the hotel. The Siam beautifully blends British colonial with traditional Thai elements. While it's tucked away from the city center, the riverside setting is a welcome escape from the business of Bangkok. Reaching the city is easy with taxis or the hotel's own water taxi service, which can be booked through the front desk. If you booked your trip, I would suggest reaching out to the concierge via WhatsApp (you'll find the number on their website) – they're incredibly helpful! Our suite was spacious. Service throughout the hotel was impeccable, and the food was exceptional – both breakfast and dinner were highlights. The hotel is filled with fascinating antique pieces both in the rooms and throughout the property. We had a truly unique Bangkok experience at the Siam. And don't miss the spa – the massages were the perfect way to unwind at the end of our trip.

We stayed here for three nights on our honeymoon. On arrival, they upgraded our room to a villa. The room was spectacular, tasteful, with modern touches. It had a plunge pool with a fountain, a second floor sun deck, huge stone bathtub, comfortable bedding. Really can’t say enough about the room. The service was equally stunning; they seemed to delight in taking care of us. It was really above and beyond. For example, they knew our itinerary and made every arrangement including transportation and topped it off with a boxed breakfast(one like I have never seen) for our early departing flight. No brain cells were used on our part, which is always a goal on our vacations. Further, the general manager, Nick, checked in on us multiple times and our butler Samet was an angel. In summation, we highly recommend this hotel. This level of luxury and service is hard to find regardless of the price.
