Bar Harbor Grand Hotel

We stayed at 5 different hotels on our two-week vacation through Boston and Maine and the Bar harbor Grand was our most comfortable stay. We spent 3 nights in the 2-bedroom suite. The room was spacious and there are 3 beds- one in the bedroom and 2 in the living area. Coming from Hawaii my expectation is that the staff show some sort of Aloha Spirit in treating their guest. The desk staff and dining room staff were always smiling and accommodating. We were treated well. If you are lucky there may be afternoon treats. On our check-in they had an assortment of Macaroon Cookies. The next day they had Whoopie Pies. Breakfast was excellent. They had an assortment of fresh fruit, breakfast meats, cereal, breads and pastries. The menu changed daily. Coffee, Hot Cocoa and Hot Tea is available 24-7. We enjoyed the hot drinks after returning from a cool walk to dinner. The dining area is open all the time so people would spend time having a hot drink and relaxing. The hotel is located on the Main Street, but the rooms were quiet. Our room overlooked Main Street, and we were never bothered by the outside noise when we took an afternoon nap or at night. The hotel is only 3 blocks from the harbor, so we easily walked down to catch our tour boat. The Village Green is a block away. That is where you can catch the shuttle buses that takes you throughout Desert Island and Acadia National Park. The hotel is also close to great dining and souvenir shops. Great place.

To be honest we were expecting Bar Harbor Grand hotel to be an older hotel with a fading glory from a former time. However, we were very pleasantly surprised as while the exterior looked old the rooms and amenities were all new inside with large bedrooms that were in excellent condition and good sized bathrooms with all amenities required. The stars of the show were the staff who were excellent in every area from the front desk staff who welcomed us to the breakfast team who provided a wonderful selection of fresh fruit each day. One exceptional level of service was that we mentioned to the front desk that our room was a little cold and we could do with another blanket, by the time we returned to our room 5 minutes later the housekeeper was waiting with not just one but a selection of two blankets! The location of the hotel is also excellent with good parking and an excellent location in Bar Harbor.

Wonderful hotel. Definitely stay here. Really nicely appointed. One of the best breakfasts I've had at a hotel in a long time. Great location, near everything. Quiet and a really nice unique property. Super clean. Very very nice staff. I would definitely stay here again and you should too.

They made the entire experience wonderful! We went for my fiancés birthday and they went out of their way to leave a gift and a card at our door the morning of her birthday. The accommodations were second to none as well! overall would highly recommend staying here to ANYONE. Excellent food, excellent rooms, above excellent staff!

Good as usual. Breakfast could be better. The eggs must be powdered. Very dry. Love the Coffee By Design coffee. Nice beds and pillows. Room was quite. The heat pumps are great. Location is perfect. Close to the center of town. I am sure we will be back.
