Reviews for El Palace

Simply Fantastic!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

Travelled with my wife (in our 40's), 2 teens, and mother in law. This hotel is an A+ and one of the nicest I have ever stayed at. Beautiful clean, historic hotel in a great location. The staff is very very friendly and efficient. Rooms very comfortable including great beds and shower. Breakfast served in a beautiful space and was excellent. I could go on and on, but it was fantastic in every way!

Worth every dollar, so save up and get there!

This hotel is where you should stay if you are looking for the experience of a lifetime. The photos online capture about 30% of its actual beauty. We stayed in a mini-suite and got the best rate through Auto Club. (I searched for weeks.). The room and bathroom were fit for royalty and even had a walk in closet. To say it was spacious is an understatement. The bed, sheets, pillows, towels and drapery were top notch luxurious. We had room-service breakfast every day and it was hot and delicious and delivered quickly with linens, fresh flowers, etc. We visited the downstairs bar and it is like a swanky, gorgeous speakeasy but one where you can ALWAYS get a good table and amazing cocktails. The beautiful hostess there was delightful. The highlight for us was the Concierge Desk. They helped us with every decision and reassured us about our plans, walking routes, and made restaurant reservations for us. Everything they recommended was the best. You can walk everywhere from the hotel and the metro system is clean, safe, fast and easy if you want to go further out. Concierge helped us with that, also. One request: please only stay here if you are a grateful person who treats grand hotels and staff with respect and appreciation. El Palace employees deserve to only have guests who are as enthusiastic and kind as they are. Believe me, every smile and thank you will be returned to you 100 times over.

Hotel El Palace, One of the Best Ever

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

From the moment we checked in, we were wowed by both the hotel and the staff. The El Palace (former Ritz built in 1919) is absolutely stunning and has twice as many staff as others and they take very good care of you. We were amazingly treated from the moment we walked in until we left three days later. This hotel has service that is certainly over the top. If you are a Rolling Stones fan-then book the Ronnie Wood suite or the adjacent room Ronnie decorated with his paintings. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to the decorated room and had a full tour of the adjacent suite. Pictures of Mick and the band are everywhere. There is even a real old fashioned juke box. BA delayed our luggage and their concierge was fantastic as they kept checking to inform us of the expected delivery, which arrived the following morning. Our room was very large and even had two showers to use in the bathroom, one was like a Roman ceramic shower. The small balcony overlooking the street still resulted in a very quiet interior space and nice breeze when the doors were open. Breakfast and dinners were both excellent. One of the nicest features of staying in this lavish property was after a full day of touring heading to the rooftop bar, sitting in the sun, and enjoying a glass of wine or two before dinner. When we visit Barcelona again, we will look definitely stay here.

A perfect hotel but point totally inacceptable

To be honest, the rooftop is incredible. The hotel is really incredible. However, be aware, do not pay with cash really. They are going to give you a massive quantity of pieces. I was totally disappointed when after giving money to the waiter he came with a lot of pieces. If u want to pay with cash, go away. But, on the rooftop the waiter are really nice and aware of u. The rooms are also really nice. I advise it if you are not going to pay with cash.

Beautiful and grand hotel

Lovely hotel both inside and out. We enjoyed the patio rooftop bar for cocktails and nibbles and the service was good. Beautiful views. We upgraded our room on arrival - it was a bit smaller than expected but very nice and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. Played cards several times in the grand hall area, complete with drinks and coffee from the bar. Hotel staff was welcoming and always willing and able to answer any questions. Look forward to returning and this will be our choice of hotels in Barcelona for future stays.
