Hotel Ohla Barcelona

Before leaving on an 11 day cruise from Barcelona to Lisbon, we stayed 5 nights at the Hotel Ohla Barcelona. Here are the pros and cons. Pros: - Location is excellent along Via Laeitana a few blocks from an entrance to the Gothic Quarter. - The hotel is gorgeous both inside and out - Our room was one step above a Junior Suite on the 4th floor overlooking Via Laietana. It was spacious and well appointed with one of the most comfortable beds we’ve experienced. Ask for the Egyptian sheets. Shower had a rainwater fixture with a nice strong water pressure. TV had a ton of channels, but most were in Spanish. - Reception staff was always helpful with a smile…except for one gentleman. Javi, the main Concierge, was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Zak, the doorman, could not have been more friendly and helpful, especially during the check out process. - Housekeeping was generally fine, although the room was cleaned at somewhat different times during our 5 night stay. See cons below. - Breakfast buffet was great. It offered a wide range of excellently prepared items and we never left hungry. In fact, just the opposite. - Dinner in the Michelin starred Caelis restaurant was other-worldly (see separate review) Cons: - Housekeeping was quite good, but the carpeted part was not vacuumed twice and turndown service occurred on 2 of 5 evenings. - The lunch experience in the same room as breakfast was good, but not quite up to par with everything else. Overall, Hotel Ohla Barcelona deserves the 5 stars most reviewers give it.

I selected Hotel Ohla Barcelona for its location. First time visitor - solo - to Barcelona and wanted to be able to wander comfortably. This hotel truly fit the bill. I was pleasantly surprised by how attentive the staff was, and the room exceeded expectations. Don’t miss the breakfast! Highly recommend.

The entire staff made us welcome. Put us at ease since our luggage was delayed before a cruise. They let us know when it was delivered which made our evening in a restaurant that much better. We have stayed many times in Barcelona and would definitely stay here next time. The room was comfortable, nice shower and amenities!

Excellent hotel with outstandingly friendly staff. I celebrated my 60th birthday with the whole family there. Every team member was very forthcoming. Rooms are very nice. The highlight was the dinner in the Caelis restaurant. Top class cuisine. We will come back!

This cosy hotel has a very good central location. If you like walking, you can take pleasant walks to most of the attractions. There are many shops and a large department store nearby, as well as a historic market. If you have only hand luggage and no need to take a taxi, you can take the Aerobus, which stops a 5 min walk from the hotel. Our room overlooked the courtyard and was very quiet. The pillows were comfortable for us and we slept well. The room was cleaned every day and sweet surprises were left on the bed. The rooftop pool was not heated, but we didn't miss it at all. The breakfast was delicious and had a good selection, including a variety of fruits. You could always order an omelette and fried eggs as an extra. And finally, the whole team was just great, starting from the reception. They really did everything to make us feel comfortable and homely in this hotel. Thank you all!
