Reviews for Hotel Ohla Barcelona

Great, but rooftop bar is VERY expensive

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 7 hours ago

Excellent Hotel within walking distance of just about everything. Staff was great. Only disappointment was the prices on the rooftop bar. Most I have ever paid for a medium grade scotch in my life. That said, the bar caters to the more hip, party crown, not the person wanting a relaxing drink. Views were great. Again, great staff and hotel.

A Mixed Experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

We stayed twice at Ohla Barcelona, March 10-12, and again 21-24. We went along with another couple. I must say our experience at the Ohla was mixed. The location is perfect. We had a good first stay; the second time around, not so much. It started when we checked in, we were early .. it was about 130. Our friends got a warm welcome, and an early checkin as “returning guests”. We didn’t get the warm welcome. And we were told we’d get the first room available. We waited till past the 3pm checkin time, then decided not to wait any longer, and went out for the evening. It was raining, and we picked up 2 umbrellas. The concierge said they were short of umbrellas, and took one back. Guess what? 5 minutes later our friends came down, and picked up 2 umbrellas. When they met us, I was not happy, and went back to the hotel and asked the concierge what changed. He smiled sheepishly and said they now had some more and offered us a second. We came back at 6, and were told we had been “upgraded” to a “designer” room. Sounded good. Guess what. It was exactly the same as the room we got in our previous stay, only a bit smaller. By the way, the rooms are very cramped, and have the shower in the middle of the room, right beside the bed! Fully transparent all around. Something I would have liked to know before I booked. The first night was really noisy. We were on a high floor, and it was a Friday night, so maybe that was it. But we had noise from the road till 2 or 3 am. Breakfast was great. But no fresh yoghurt, just the packaged stuff. We stayed at similar nice hotels in Mardid and Seville, and the rooms were bigger and better, and the breakfast was way better. We will stay in both those hotels again for sure. My daughter and her friend came to meet us in Barcelona and we couldn’t get a room at the Ohla, so she stayed at a hotel a minute away. Cost a lot less, and I know where I will stay in Barcelona the next time. One other thing: don’t have the hotel call you a cab in the morning. Ours took 10-15 minutes, and as we waited, dozens of free cabs went by, stopping in front of us to ask if we needed a cab. The concierge was really nice though. He stayed with us, and went back once to call the company too..

Awesome place to stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

The hotel has an awesome service in all areas and the rooms are so comfortable that it's not easy to leave. Excellent location to visit Barcelona and they have a delicious buffette for breakfast. The team made our stay just one of the best ever...

Amazing apart from Brekkie

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Everything perfect I would say. The breakfast is a bit disappointing though. I would suggest definitely staying at this hotel but book without the breakfast. There are loads of places nearby. The service and offering at breakfast is weak relative to everything else about the hotel which is amazing.
