The worst 5-star stay we have every had!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

After a long day of traveling with a 10-year-old who wasn't feeling well, we checked into our two-bedroom self-contained apartment located in a seperate building opposite the hotel, which offered city views for $900 AUD per night. The check-in process was smooth, and the staff were helpful, assisting us with our bags across the road to our room. The apartment is spacious and clean, featuring a large lounge, dining area, kitchen, washing facilities, and two small verandas overlooking the main street. We arrived on Thursday afternoon around 3:30 PM, only to be greeted by loud construction noises from the building next door, which continued until 5:30 PM. Our troubles continued on Friday morning when we were woken up at 8 AM by drilling on the wall adjacent to our beds. When I called to explain the situation, I received a call back thirty minutes later, informing me that our only option was to move into two smaller hotel rooms with no view for an additional $380 AUD per night. My husband went to speak with management in person to express our concerns, but he was told that all the managers were in a meeting and that nothing could be done. They claimed it was not the hotel’s problem that the construction noise was disturbing the guests. I'm unable to upload the video of the noise, but I have uploaded some photos of the construction site next to my bedroom verandah. We spent the rest of Friday out during the day and were not bothered by the noise. On Friday night, I checked the hotel’s website and found that, contrary to what we were told, there were several different room types available, and the difference in cost was $1,300, not $1,500 as stated. I sent an email to management seeking a resolution, expressing our willingness to move to a smaller room but without any additional cost. I highlighted that the extra charge was excessive and more than what was advertised online. Saturday and Sunday were quiet since the construction site was closed, but we received no response from management. Today is Monday, and drilling started again on the bedroom wall at 8:30 AM. We are booked here until Tuesday, and we cannot wait to leave. Needless to say, I do not recommend this hotel. I am extremely upset by this experience, and the lack of sleep has left me feeling exhausted. For $900 per night at a five-star hotel, I expected at least a guarantee of sleep and exceptional customer service. Unfortunately, I encountered nothing but appalling customer service and a company that prioritises profits over the well-being of its customers. Other points to note: there are no blackout curtains in the room, making sleep difficult. There is no mineral water, tea, bath robes or washing powder provided. Additionally, we were informed at check-in that to use the steam room or spa, we needed to book in advance and pay an extra 25 euros per adult per hour. The area is extremely touristy; for a more authentic Barcelona experience, I recommend staying near the Gothic Quarter and El Born, where there are many better apartments available.

Amazing Stay at Hotel Majestic Barcelona

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

We had an incredible stay at Hotel Majestic Barcelona! The location is absolutely perfect, right in the heart of the city. The spa and rooms were beautiful, offering a luxurious and relaxing atmosphere. One of the highlights was the rooftop terrace with its breathtaking panoramic view of the entire city—from the Sagrada Familia to the sea and Montjuïc. It was simply stunning! The service was outstanding. The staff was exceptionally friendly and went above and beyond to make our stay special. They even recommended two fantastic restaurants for us—a great tapas bar and an excellent paella restaurant. The breakfast buffet was another highlight: a wide variety of delicious options, all fresh and beautifully presented. Overall, we highly recommend Hotel Majestic to anyone visiting Barcelona. We will definitely be coming back!

Nice ambience on roof top terrasse

Good ambience and food. we had the tapas menu with cava & dessert. very nice. jamon & egg, brava millefeuille, tuna tartar, croqueta were all very good. service a bit disorganized, slow but friendly. one bemol is that they charge 7€-8€ for coffee...kind of abusive.

Big classic central hotel with rooftop café

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Stayed here on a three-day Viking Mediterranean pre-cruise extension. Centrally located on wide streets near shopping and tourist sites. Small steps in the lobby area have been modified into inclines to avoid tourists tripping but there were two sets of stairs of four steps each in the hallway to my room 638. Makes you pay attention first thing in the morning and last thing at night! Room at the rear of the hotel was large, quiet and bright. The ceiling light in the bathroom was not working. Don’t know if it was the bulb or the switch. Told staff. The breakfast on the first floor (down five steps from the elevator) was excellent with buffet selections or ordering from the menu. On the top level is the spa, pool and café with drinks, sandwiches, etc. Great views over the city including La Sagrada Familia and on to the mountains. Clear plexiglass panels protect you from the wind. Relaxing on a sunny weekday afternoon. Very busy on weekends.
