Reviews for The Grand Hotel Les Trois Rois

Excellent stay!! -- No.1 hotel, I'd so return for another, but longer stay

RE: January 2024 travels Everything here is top-notch. Their 3-star Michelin restaurant on-site ran a special from WED-FRI. My stay was set for SUN, and the concierge was kind enough to get me in for a Table for One for Friday Lunch. I've never dined at a 3-star Michelin restaurant, and completely WoW'd by the whole experience. I recommend anyone visiting Basel, Switzerland to visit the quaint hotel just to check the florals in the main lobby, or even just to look out from the balcony (past the tea room) onto the waterfront views. I have to say, when I checked into the hotel room, I was pretty surprised they upgraded my room. The closet reminded me so much of that movie; The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. That impressed me. Plus, the complimentary goodies include soda, Gummy Bears, and such. And, so you know, the windows for both the room and bathroom have an electrical awning which is controlled from the inside of the room. Just in case you need to shower, and wonder how to close up the windows from anyone taking a peek! The sound system in their bathroom is phenomenal. While watching Marry Poppins on their Bangs & Olufsen TV, I was even able to sing-a-long in the bathroom. The pretty hotel chandelier at Les Trois Rois hotel, reminded me so much of the custom chandelier hanging inside the MC Escher museum in The Netherlands. Between the two restaurants on site, I highly, highly recommend trying the food at their 3-star Michelin restaurant named Cheval Blanc. I've just added photos of the food for now. Will add on more photos later in the day, of the room I was upgraded into and the hotel's string of chandeliers.

Classic and classy

Old world hotel in a wonderful location. Class all the way, wonderfully decorated for Christmas. Service from all the staff was exceptional, could not fault in any way. Plentiful breakfast options available to suit every taste, freshly prepared.

Best dinner ever!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

An absolutely superb hotel. Chevel Blanc dinner was the best meal my wife and I have ever had. Beatiful room with a river overlook, and very kind and helpful staff. The only slight disappointment was check in was delayed until the absolute last minute it could be done and still comply with their check in rules, which was disappointing as my wife was feeling ill - but that a small negative to an overwhelmingly positive experience.

Wonderful stay in Basel

Really outstanding hotel. Old world with modern updates that do not detract from the atmosphere. The beds are great and the bathrooms spacious. We did not dine in the Michelin Star restaurant but will on the next visit. The bar is wonderful for drinks as the room is perfect. The only issue is the "lobby" is only for drinking after 4 pm and there is no where else to sit on the main floor. However, there is a library on the second floor that is delightful to sit in and read. This hotel has spoiled me for chain hotels.
