On a 75-acre verdant peninsula where architecture and topography seamlessly blend, the five luxury villas of Eagle's Nest offer five interpretations of luxury. On one end, the Fire Light Temple is an intimate honeymoon retreat with an open-air bedroom and glass shower overlooking the cerulean waters below. Meanwhile, at the award-winning Rahimoana, 44 acres of private land include its own beach, a helipad and a modernist villa architects say is destined for Frank Lloyd Wright-like icon status.

Our 3-night stay at Eagles Nest was wonderful. We stayed in the First Light Villa which had a large living room, kitchen, and bathroom on the first floor, as well as a large bedroom and ensuite bathroom on the second floor. The entire front of the building was a glass wall that offered spectacular views of the Bay of Islands. There was also a large deck and hot tub. Holly and Lauren were extremely hospitable, friendly, and helpful. We greatly appreciated the rides to and from dinner. Exceptional, low-key service. If we are lucky enough to get back to New Zealand we would definitely stay here again!

This experience was like 'heaven on earth'. Anything I wanted, I got. Nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation was amazing, the staff absolutely wonderful, especially the manager Adam who went out of his way to make sure my every whim was catered for. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to 'live in the lap of luxury' for a few days.

We just had an amazing 4 day stay at Eagles Nest. The accommodation is certainly 5 star. Everything you need is supplied. The breakfast and other mini bar supplies are wonderful. The apartment has everything you can expect in a Luxury Resort . On top of this the staff are outstanding with their service and hospitality. No matter what your request the staff would deliver . Lauren drove us to local restaurants and even picked up fish & chips for us in Russell . I would highly recommend the resort to anyone looking for a luxury experience. We will definitely go back in the future. Congratulations to the owners and staff

Eagles Nest is a beautiful place with beautiful views specially from our bedroom! The reason I am giving it three stars it’s because of service issues. I felt ripped off as we were paying top dollars! They only have one manager who is a do it all person. So we had to carry our bags all the way to our room two floors up. The Internet is terrible - very spotty The manager v proudly showed us how to use TV and music system- it didn’t work. He couldn’t make it work. We could not watch tv or listen to music I had to scream for bath towels (they gave us two towels-small clean but old). At the end they gave us proper towels I was denied access to the gym- they had to clean it We are big coffe and tea drinkers. We were given 6 mugs to use. When they saw we were using the mugs they removed them left us with two mugs The sofa in the sitting area needs re covering looks tired and a bit dirty. When we arrived the manager told us we had a reservation at Sage (a very nice restaurant). When we arrived at Sage we didn’t have a reservation. Luckily they sat us down -as Sage is 20 minutes from the hotel Eagles Nest location is great as it’s near the town- Russell. They just need to be less cheap as they are charging a lot of money for the room!

There are not enough superlatives to describe our stay in the First Light villa at Eagles Nest. The photos of it just don't do justice to the real thing. The views of the Bay of Islands from the mezzanine bedroom are spectacular and the management team have thought of everything to make your stay enjoyable. Champagne on ice to greet us, excellent complimentary provisions for breakfast (and more!), a dinner booking at the renowned Duke of Marlborough in Russell on the first evening (and the offer to take you there and back so that you can have a drink) - we wanted for nothing! Unfortunately we only had two nights here but the hot tub and sauna were so relaxing, we left feeling refreshed and relaxed. Sam & Holly were so friendly & welcoming but gave us total privacy during our stay. We walked into Russell via the Flagstaff Loop and got the Happy Ferry over to Paihia. There is also a short walk to Tapeka beach. This has to be the most romantic place we have ever stayed and it certainly has the wow factor!
