Five Star Review for Helen our Tour Guide and also for Mr Fred Wang of the concierge team, Four Seasons

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Mr Fred Wang of the Four Seasons Concierge was wonderful and extremely efficient. Mr Wang arranged for our Tour Guide to take us to the Summer Palace, Temple of Heaven and the Great Wall. Our Tour Guide was Helen and she too was absolutely wonderful. Full of knowledge and interesting facts. When we come back to Beijing we will definitely stay at the Four Seasons agin and insist upon Helen being our Tour Guide.

Family trip to Beijing

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

We stayed in the little prince room with our boys, and the room was decorated beautifully. The bunk bed was a bonus for the boys, complete with the tent, balloons and the decorated mirror. Service was excellent the moment we stepped into Four seasons Beijing, they were very welcoming and anticipated many of our needs. Concierge was always wonderful and helped us with restaurant reservations and many other things. We arranged for a tour guide to bring us around for 3 days. On our first day, we met Lucy Li, our tour guide who brought us to Hutong and helped us when we had things to buy. Lucy is very pleasant, with good English, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time with her. We requested the same tour guide for the next 2 days. She is good with kids and understanding to old folks. My boys had a fun time with her. We did cultural activities, where we went to old Beijing to learn about cricket fighting and diabolo. Mr Wu, the cricket teacher was very humourous and made it so interesting for the kids about the history of cricket fighting. Overall,we had a wonderful and memorable trip because of these wonderful service!

An extremely unpleasant experience with RACISM in service at OPUS

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

My friend and I stopped by OPUS after dinner. The service was minimal: the staff seated us, took our order, and served the food, but there was no introduction, water, or complimentary snacks like those given to other tables. No one ever checked on us, and I even had to refill my own water and prepare the tea. Meanwhile, the waiter serving a nearby table of four white men provided noticeably better service, KNEELING to take their order and asking about allergies—something I was never asked. I was shocked to be charged a 15% mandatory service fee for such experience. When I questioned it, the staff claimed they "served us well by simply taking the order and serving plates" but offered no apology for the disparities. While tipping isn’t customary in China, I am happy to reward excellent service—but this was far from it. As a customer, no matter there is a tip culture or not, I always have rights to refuse to tip in this kind of situation. Unfortunately, they still insisted to charge me and gave me incorrect parking instruction to make my experience even worse. I cannot recommend this place and won’t return. It’s unacceptable to experience discriminatory service with terrible attitude. It's never about the price or extra fee. It seems that staff at Four Seasons knows how to serve people well to justify the service cost but they deliberately choose to provide different services. Racist behaviors should be stopped especially in the hospitality industry!

Service does NOT match the price

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Had a really bad experience when I talked to a guy named Daniel from Club Lounge . Hotel management can check the phone call record at around 12:30 on 15/Nov . It seems like he own this hotel and he said he refused all the people who don’t stay in his hotel . Well , this could be your hotel policy but this should not be the attitude you can have to a guest . The guest service manager ( Front Office manager ,Lucy ?) was trying to protect him ,emphasized that I misunderstood everything, and taught me a lesson that we should obey the policy which is totally different from what we were told by the former club lounge manager . Four Seasons hotel policy changes according to department manager? And they are not lacking of guests , they are the boss , give me a feeling that they can do whatever they want to do do with a guest .

... Private tour guide Jenny from Peony Tours was really outstanding, she took us to Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, and Temple of Heaven, she was very courteous and kind as she helped to take care of my Mom who was using a wheelchair. She has alot of experience, better than other tour guides that I've used in the past as she knows which entrances can get in faster. She knows a lot about Chinese history and the told us many interesting stories, was a very enjoyable day. Hotel's concierge service also very good as they helped to book this tour for us, all the entrance tickets to places were all arranged and pre-purchased as well as the driver so we didn't need to do anything, Peony Tours and Jenny took care of arranging everything.
