We stayed in The Peninsula Beijing for more than a week and it was excellent! Everything from the first minute was fantastic. The best and very central location, the breakfast, room facilities and staff. Especially I would like to mention a wonderful concierge team, who helped us not only with exploring Beijing, but with different and sometimes unusual questions related to our health conditions. Anytime when we needed help: sightseeing, restaurant recommendations, traveling to other cities in China and even medical facilities, the best and very knowledgeable concierge team, especially Lambert, Kurt and Jason were incredible! We will 100% come back to this hotel when we travel to Beijing again. It was one of the best experiences and I really enjoyed the service.

I have stayed here twice before and it was great both times - as far as room quality and general service were concerned, excellent. On this trip, awful. The room I was assigned was filled with stale air and the temperature couldn’t be reduced from 23 despite setting it lower. After letting reception know the first time they agreed it would take a while to get cooler. I went out for a few hours. On my return, I noticed staff taking fans to people’s rooms. When I got back to the room, it was still stale and 23. I went back down to reception and told the duty manager. She offered me a fan. No, I said loudly. I’m not paying $750 a night to use a fan in the hope of getting some circulation and cooling. They said they would show me another room to see if it was cooler. It wasn’t much cooler. I said to the person who took me to this room: be honest with me, is there a problem with the air conditioning? Is it broken? Just tell me if it is and I will move hotels. No, they said, the government does not allow us to have cool air in the system because of the weather. I asked if every hotel was the same. Yes, they said. They offered to get someone to open the windows in the room and put in an air purifier (necessary because of Beijing’s pollution). The room did get cooler and fresher but the air quality was noticeable not good. I checked out early the next day and left Beijing after my last meeting. No point paying $750 a night if you can’t breath properly in the room.
