Reviews for The Fitzwilliam Hotel Belfast

Dreadfully poor service.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Alarm bells ringing pre stay with interactions with the reservation team and in particular with one of their team Todd prior to staying. We asked valid questions re dinner plans our dogs etc and the responses were so curt and in our opinion bordering on rude. The hotel itself is very very expensive and calls itself a 5 star property which we found bizarre when factoring in that there is no pool, no spa to write home about and the smallest gym we have ever seen in a so called 5 star hotel.

This is not a 5* hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

The room was very tired and linen was old l, beds were far too soft due to their age , we asked to move rooms and reception staff were very helpful, overall we had a poor experience with this hotel claiming to be a 5* This is not 5* hotel I would say 4* their marketing is very professional

Cocktails!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

Popped in to this hotel for cocktails. Sad not to get a warm welcome at the door (doorman must have been on a break), but inside the staff were courteous and pointed us in the right direction. The bar is dark and cosy, the service there was excellent and drinks well made. I look forward to returning.

Afternoon tea... Afternoon picnic!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

Went for Afternoon Tea. Usually enjoy it when in dining room. Today was not as good as on previous occasions. 1.In future- please don't position people in the lobby close to the revolving door to the street in November when it is 4 degrees outside. It was freezing. 2.Don't expect people to hunch forward and eat from a coffee table in a busy thoroughfare while seated on higher sofas. it is not good for posture, digestion or dignity. I wouldn't do it at home and shouldn't expect to to do so in a 5 star establishment. 3.Remember that afternoon tea is not just about the food, but about the hollistic experience. Sat in the lobby, with a hotel business meeting being conducted behind us, people checking in and out at reception, Securicor visiting etc does not a five star experience make. I totally understand that you didn't want to open the dining room for one couple. But I would much rather you had phoned and asked me to change the booking. 4. That said, the waiter could not have been lovelier. He saw me shivering, offered to move us to but this was half way through the meal. I had already got a lot of crumbs on your carpet because of eating in the cramped conditions, and was highly embarrased. I just wanted to get the meal finished and get home.

Very enjoyable stay in the Fitzwilliam, perfect location for exploring the city. The staff are friendly and courteous. We stayed in one of the corner rooms which was very comfortable with a great view of the city. Would be 100% happy to recommend this hotel to anyone.
