Brilliant hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

Took me a while to write the review for my big 50th birthday in October. Brilliant service and the hotel made the occasion really special. Upgraded ourselves to the Panoramic Suite and it’s one of the best rooms we’ve stayed in - wow! Honestly, the staff and everyone involved in the hotel; cleaners, bar staff and concierge couldn’t have done enough. Everyone was just so kind and thoughtful. As always, brilliant German beer too! Loved the self service shop too, very innovative. Exec lounge was cool, certainly made you feel that bit special. Keep up the excellent work Hilton Berlin!

Great hotel in a good location for visiting Christmas markets

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

Hotel was great. Location was excellent with a U Bahn station just over the road and taxi’s queuing outside. Hotel was within walking distance of Alexanderplatz where connections to other trains possible including airport route. Reception staff very friendly and spoke good English for those of us with no German. Lobby was decorated so nicely for Christmas. Rooms were spacious and warm. Only negative was plug didn’t work in bath so it filled while showering. Sorted once I removed plug and left it out. Didn’t eat in hotel so can’t comment on food but menu looked a little pricey for options and food cheaper in restaurants around. Has an adequate gym with a nice pool. Saunas and steam room were excellent but they are also open to non hotel residents for a fee. As a guest you also have to pay as they are run by a separate company. As is customary in Germany they are compulsory nude so be prepared to get naked . This is clearly signed on entrance and direction signs so if you’re not happy being in a mixed nude situation don’t enter. The saunas were as described temperature and steam room was perfect. Ice machine broken unfortunately. We were in Berlin mainly to visit Christmas markets and this hotel is ideally located for this. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Nice Hotel

We recently stayed at this hotel and overall, it was a good experience. The hotel itself is lovely, with clean rooms that have all you need. It has a lovely bar area that we really enjoyed. The location was perfect for where we needed to be, with an underground station just outside, making it incredibly convenient to get around. However, there were a couple of issues that stood out. We have stayed in Hiltons many times, but this is the first time we have had to pay for water in the room, which was unexpected and a bit disappointing. Additionally, breakfast was quite chaotic, with no system in place. On arrival to the breakfast room, they marked our room number off, then it was a free-for-all. It was very difficult to know which tables were taken and which were free. Guests were being let in even when there weren’t any tables available, which made the experience less enjoyable and relaxing. Despite these hiccups, we had a pleasant stay. The staff were friendly, and the overall ambiance of the hotel was very welcoming. With a few improvements, this could easily become a top-notch experience.

Fantastic stay with very minor issues

We have stayed at the Hilton for many years ( over 15 years) visiting the Christmas markets. My husband is a lifetime diamond member. Location: the hotel is In a great location tube is a minute walk which is so convenient and helps you get round Berlin easily and quickly. Would recommend you go to the cafe in the chocolate shop next door they do fantastic cakes. We can’t wait for the Xmas market to move to Oppsite the hotel again, but its temporary location is only a five minutes walk. Hotel: most of the staff are really friendly. Big shout out to the concierge who is a font of knowledge he managed to book us a table at our favourite restaurant as we could not book it online. However, the hotel did letters down when in the past we have been advised to email them so they could book us. We did this prior to arrival and still waiting for a confirmation email, even though we’ve been here four days. Room: 4096 on check in we where told we had been upgraded ( in the passed we have sometimes have upgrades and sometime not so we never except one) however to our surprise we were upgraded to a corner suite, it was spacious and well laid out. We were given a bottle of red wine, grapes and an edible plant pot with a cake inside which was lovely (except the plate has b er en left in the room and not taken away yet (day 4 of our stay) and a little Xmas present. Executive lounge: the lounge is okay however over the years it has changed tremendously and not for the better unfortunately it always gets busy and in the evening sometimes you cannot get a seat. On years past you’d be able to go in for a slice of cake in the afternoon and a coffee, however this is now gone. There use to be a good selection of spirits this has vastly reduced, Bailey’s drinkers you are out of luck now. Evening snacks are poor gone are the days of two hot snacks and soup they are down to one and a soup and to be honest the hot was pretty poor I missed out night as we out to a restaurant the other two night it was lukewarm meatballs and the other was some sort of rice and veg balls which ended up as mush as they all broke up in the serving dish, have no idea what flavour the soups were as they were never labelled. Let’s hope to night offering is better. I can’t say anything about the staff as we have not had any interaction with them. Breakfast: selection is really good. There is an executive section for executive rooms was never full shout out to the omelette makers. They are fantastic friendly and the omelette always tasted so good. Staff in the restaurant always friendly on top of everything. Conclusion : would I stay again? Yes, it’s convenient location for the Christmas markets and the using of tubes. Executive lounge would I use it again to be honest hit a mess if I was paying for it then no I don’t think so anymore

Disappointing

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Booked for a couple of days with family to see the city and Christmas markets. Very disappointed with the standard of service, We booked a triple room but were asked to come back in 40 mins as wasn't ready then we were moved to a double room with no explanation and they had to shove a single bed in. It obviously wasn't set up for use - nothing in mini-bar, one of the bottles of water in fridge was half full and no tea or coffee. When we complained we were just told we had a bigger room than the one we booked and that triples didn't come with all king beds. We accepted the bed situation but that wasn't the point! When we requested tea and coffee, we received a load of coffee in a plastic bag. At breakfast, we were also told they had given us a free breakfast when we had booked and paid for three people! The third person we spoke to actually apologised - which went a long way, rather than making excuses. He offered use of the lounge, which was also appreciated but the damage was done. Such a shame as the location was great and lots of good breakfast choices - although the pre-cooked breakfast items were cold. For a Hilton and the price paid, not good.
