Poised on Motu Tevairoa, only a ten-minute boat ride from the airport and fifteen minutes across the lagoon from the village of Vaitape, Le Bora Bora by Pearl Resorts combines heavenly location and proximity to the mainland. The resort boasts authentic Polynesian style and architecture and certainly offers some of the most traditionally designed rooms and villas in Bora Bora. While overwater bungalows are Bora Bora’s iconic accommodation type, the resort also features spacious Garden and Beach Villas with Pool. The 107 bungalows and villas are nestled in a beautiful tropical garden, on the beach and of course above the turquoise lagoon.

We just spent ten days at this beautiful resort and had a wonderful experience. It was actually our third visit and each stay has been fantastic. The property is located on its own motu so is quiet and feels secluded, though the main island is just a short boat ride away. It’s easy to get back and forth if you like. The staff are all so friendly and welcoming and the entire resort is beautifully landscaped and maintained. We stayed in an overwater bungalow with gorgeous views and there is great snorkeling right in the lagoon. The concierges are very helpful in arranging other activities as well. An idyllic place to stay.

My family and I are close to completing our nearly weeklong stay as I write this review. This is the third Bora Bora resort we’ve stayed at in the last several years, so we have a reasonable ability to compare. Pros: - Price: Not cheap, but much cheaper than the St. Regis or Conrad. Cheaper to book and cheaper day to day. The Conrad charges a stupid amount to take you on a boat to the central island. At Le Bora Bora, it is free during daytime hours. - Views: As good as St. Regis, much better than Conrad. - Service: Some of the staff, especially at the front desk and in the Miki Miki restaurant, were exceptional. We had a checked bag lost in transit by the airline and the resort staff handled tracking so we could relax. At the restaurant, the staff saw that we were struggling to eat dinner when our 9 month old started fussing, and in their infinite kindness, they entertained our child so we could eat. I will never forget their kindness to new parents. Neutral: - Feel: This place is very nice, but in every way feels less upscale than St. Regis or Conrad. That’s probably reasonable given the cost difference, but be aware that these properties are not in the same category. - Activities: This resort is smaller than others and there are fewer activities. - Facilities: Variable. The rooms themselves are nice but definitely less impressive than Conrad and St. Regis. The pool is in terrible condition; the pool liner is literally ripping off under our feet. (Think peeling vinyl floor with some areas lifted up and other areas torn.) Elevator and wheelchair access is limited. Many parts of the resort are inaccessible without stairs. Cons: - Dining: Far and away the worst part of the experience, and honestly embarrassing. There are three restaurants, of which one is closed basically every night. Because their gourmet restaurant does not allow children, we ate at the main Otemanu Restaurant three times. Each time was awful. The service was exceedingly slow, often 45 minutes between courses. The food was really bad. The table next to ours returned their plates twice because the food was cold, then just left out of frustration. I think the core problem is that there isn’t enough staff, but this really is not acceptable for a resort of this caliber. Same for the Uaina wine bar; the one person working there seemed overworked and was rude, but I may give a pass to this one due to a slight language barrier. - Service: Housekeeping and general service (eg, staff at beach) seemed to have an attitude of not wanting to help. I’m pretty uncomfortable with excessive help like the St. Regis butler service, but that’s a far cry from housekeeping not tidying our room (eg leaving iron and ironing board out). Just seems odd for what is meant to be a luxury resort.

Being at Le Bora Bora feels like being in paradise. The lagoon, the incredible blues of the ocean and the flora and fauna make it an incredible place. The staff is always smiling and cheerful and always willing to help. The perfect place to relax and unwind. Cabins on the water are luxurious and contain everything you need for you stay, a wonderful and memorable experience. Thank you to the staff for making our stay enjoyable, a vacation we will remember for a long time. R & J L

A great breakfast buffet with many options Lunch and dinner quality should have been a little better for such a resort. The over water bungalow was clean elegant with beautiful surroundings. Many free water activities at the resort. Snorkeling, kayaking, paddle board. Also ping pong and tennis courts, The staff was great -5 star and above. Stop at the town from the airport - free boat shuttle to buy snacks and adult beverages to save money before you go to the resort. A once in a lifetime experience for myself
