Located in one of Boston's oldest neighborhoods, Battery Wharf Hotel is a collection of four buildings and offers a fresh and contemporary alternative to the city's more traditional hotels. With a smaller number of rooms, the hotel is more like a boutique urban retreat, evoking a residential feel. Guest chambers are designed to make the most of the waterfront location, while high-tech amenities are there for added convenience. The hotel is home to the AAA Four-Diamond Award-winning Sensing restaurant, an epicurean experience featuring a global menu of entrées that are creatively plated and prepared. Imbibing takes place in the Lobby Living Room, which sets the stage for conversation and impromptu toasts in a lounge-like setting.

Wow! I was blown away by the warm welcome and customer service of the staff. Easy check in, bright lobby for an afternoon of work and a great view. Bhakti made sure we had the best room possible for our sister’s weekend. I’ll be back thanks to her attention to our experience.

The first issue encountered was with room service. Ordered two biscuits and juice. After an hour plus waiting on room service, I walked to the front desk fir assistance. The gentleman seemed sleepy and unordered about my concern. We walked over to the restaurant where there was only ONE table with customers. Our order still hadn't been prepared. We had to leave the hotel to go and get breakfast. No one said I'm sorry nor did anyone apologize for the inconvenience. I also received an out of the blue text about my car that I left with the valet. I called the hotel to speak with someone about it as I was not there. No one had an answer for the text that I received. I had to ask if they could please ensure that my vehicle was secure. Lastly, upon checkout, I had several bags to load in my vehicle. 2 valet gentleman stood and watched as my daughter and I pushed the luggage cart to our car where we unloaded the cart and packed our car as they watched. Meanwhile, we sat there and watched one of the gentleman walk up to another guest and take their luggage cart and load it in the back of that guest's vehicle. This wasn't the experience that I was expecting for the price of this luxury hotel. It would seem that the minimum foot traffic that I observed may be indicative of the experience that is shared by the patrons.

This is my second stay at the Battery Wharf hotel, and it won’t be my last! Both times check-in was quick and easy and my room was ready. I was hoping for a water view room and as the room I had booked was standard, I upgraded at check-in. With the fees and upgrade, it cost me an almost additional $200 but for the view it was worth it. The only inconvenience is both times I stayed there was not a refrigerator in the room. When I spend the money for a nice room, I like to be able to enjoy it which entails having a couple of drinks and appetizers with my friends. Not having a refrigerator to store drinks is inconvenient so I advise bringing a cooler. The only other inconvenience was locating ice. We were in the building right across from the main building and I could not locate an ice machine. I had to go back over to the main building to get ice. I upgraded to a suite which had one king bed and a pullout couch. There was a living room and even a dining section. Beautiful views out every window. This hotel is literally just a short walk to the north end, annual hall, the aquarium, and not far from the Garden. Both times I stayed. I was going to a concert and the Battery Wharf is super convenient. Parking is easy as they offer valet service for their garage parking. This was a fee of $60 but worth it to not have to deal with parking. Had a great time and I’m looking forward to my next stay! Also, make sure you bring a little cash for tipping housekeeping and the valet. I was hoping there would be a Venmo card in the room or a way to leave a tip without actually having cash so I dropped the ball on that.

Bhakti and Jelicia were great ambassadors for this hotel. Very helpful and with a cheerful attitude. The 2 guys, not so much. Loved the king-size bed, great shower, and fantastic location. The hotel is so close to everything. Go to the New England Aquarium, amazing. Will definitely stay again. Deirdre
