Reviews for Mandarin Oriental Boston

Mandarin Oriental, Boston is a benchmark in luxury hospitality

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

Mandarin Oriental is a benchmark brand in luxury hospitality, attention to details, and savoir-faire. The same is true of the Mandarin Oriental, Boston, which offers the best location in the city, close to the top restaurants and shops, overlooking Boylston Street. A suggestion here: don’t miss exploring the area around the hotel and going for a walk along Newbury Street. From the moment we check in, the hotel’s unique hospitality becomes clear, with staff handing over our room key with both hands, a small, but genuine gesture symbolizing care and respect. At Mandarin Oriental, Boston, staff will use both hands as a meaningful way of showing how special the brand is, and that each guest is individually important. We stayed in the Back Bay Corner Suite, with more than 1,000 sqf of pure charm and sophistication. It’s one of the hotel’s 12 suites, in addition to 136 other luxury rooms. A designated staff member escorted us to the suite, gave us a tour, and explained everything we needed to know. Shortly after, our butler arrived with a signature tea from the Mandarin Oriental, Boston, making our stay start in a truly memorable way. Every detail in the suite is carefully curated for a memorable experience - from the Mandarin Oriental soundtrack playing softly on the TV, to the housekeeper’s thoughtful gesture of leaving accessories for our phone chargers, as well as preparing the bed for the night, placing water bottles throughout the suite (even in the bathroom), and leaving chocolates for us to enjoy at any time. For meals, the in-house restaurant is Gordon Ramsay. We celebrated my birthday dinner there and tried the famous Beef Wellington, perfectly paired with a prestigious and good wine. For breakfast, the delicious pancakes and eggs Benedict are great choices. Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant, under the signature of this Michelin-starred Chef, offers a modern and visionary concept: just like the Mandarin Oriental brand itself, which knows it must constantly reinvent itself to stay ahead in the luxury market and remain unique. It’s no surprise that a smart robot is also part of the hotel’s team, performing important tasks every day. The Concierge is always available to provide the best recommendations. Thanks to their suggestion, we explored the 360-degree view of Boston at the Boston View, easily accessible via the Prudential Center, which has a direct connection to the Mandarin Oriental, Boston. Besides this incredible sky-high observatory, the Prudential Center is also great for shopping and discovering other dining options. The Spa is award-winning, recognized as a Forbes 5-star Spa. Taking time to enjoy the full structure and the various personalized treatments across 16,000 sqf is a great way to elevate the stay at Mandarin Oriental, Boston, with a focus on mind, body, and soul. Be sure to explore every corner of the hotel. The General Manager Markus Lindner, along with Martha Yong, Digital Marketing Coordinator, gave us a warm welcome and guided us on a tour of the Mandarin Oriental, Boston, sharing curiosities and stories. They are extremely thoughtful and always ready to assist everyone. Above all, what truly stands out is the kindness and attentiveness of the staff - whether it’s the person opening the door to greet us all, the staff member wishing us good morning with a genuine smile, or the front desk team ready to help with any questions. Their attention and kindness are genuine, and that’s why the Mandarin Oriental, Boston is the hotel you should consider when visiting Boston. And last but not least: a special big thanks to Lindsey Thorpe for organizing this unforgettable trip and stay that will forever be in my memory. Thank you very much, Mandarin Oriental, Boston, for being exceptional in all senses. We hope to be back and stay at the hotel again very soon!

Amazing hotel and staff

What an amazing hotel and staff! Love the in room amenities and spa! Loved that they provided a yoga mat which was appreciated and used as we were in meetings all day! The area had tons of restaurants and coffee shops and directly attached to the prudential center mall so you really didn’t have to brave the cold or rain to get out of the hotel.

A huge thank you to Martina and her team for their outstanding service—they truly went above and beyond. OK, but doesn’t reach MO standards.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

The positives of this property are location, good rooms, working AC, connection to the Mall. Bathrooms are decent with good toiletries. Beds are comfortable. Concierge was helpful and knowledgeable. The negatives are if you have ever stayed at an MO in the Middle East or Asia this will fall short of your expectations. The only food outlet is Gordon Ramsey and there is no lobby lounge or anywhere else to sit and have a coffee or light bite. The room service menu is only the food served in the restaurant and not really the food you want to eat when jet lagged. While we did have a good dinner at the GR outlet the breakfast was pretty much inedible. The breakfast was served cold and swimming in oil. Service levels fall short and facilities are lacking compared to other MO hotels. Also Elite Fans are not acknowledged in any substantial way.
