I absolutely hate a hotel or venue that tries to fee you to death! Chateau on the Lake is that in spades! I probably should have read, but didn’t truly know the check in time. At the front desk we were told it would $50.00 to check in early!!! I declined to do that. I was also told it would be $10.00 to park in their expansive parking lot! They already charge a resort fee of things we will never use or should be included as an amenity! I went for an Americano in the sweet shop and paid $7.00 for a medium cup of coffee! We had no microwave in our room and my Wife inquired about sending one to the room and it would be $20.00. This is supposed to be a smoke free hotel, but right out of the front door there was a large group of people smoking like freight trains! Everyone can make up their own mind about this, but I just don’t like being gouged with many added fees after you pay a premium to stay somewhere. I also don’t appreciate being overcharged for simple foods and services. I personally would never stay here again! On top of all I have said previously you have to request for your room to be cleaned! You decide!

Just visited the lobby to see the gingerbread houses. Very beautifully decorated for Christmas. Nice to take pictures there. There is even a fish pond and regular large tree in the middle that has some fake animals in it. Very impressive hotel. Lots of outdoor seating and binocular spot to look through.

Exactly like Jerry B, we have also enjoyed stopping at this hotel in past visits to Branson to see the beautiful gingerbread houses. After those visits I have thought the hotel might be a place I would be interested in staying at some point in time. It is a beautiful place with a beautiful view. But this year we were greeted with the signs indicating we would have to pay a large parking fee for a short visit to see the free Gingerbread House display. One of our party went in to confirm the parking even applied to a very short visit. Once we confirmed we would have to pay, we drove away with two cars of disappointed people. The hotel has the right to do whatever they want, but they have essentially now made the "free" gingerbread house display a hotel guest only amenity for all practical purposes. It also does not make me feel like this would be a place I would care to stay at. It no longer feels hospitable. Bad policies affect people's choices.

A few years ago we were down in Branson over Christmas and it was promoted to see the gingerbread houses at chateau on the lake. We went and they were enjoyable to see. We went this year and decided to go by the chateau again to see the gingerbread houses. The chateau now charges you for parking just to stop there. We were there 15 minutes and it cost $15. Thats the Christmas spirit. You’re on the naughty list
