Known as the Venice of the North, the quaint streets of Bruges, Belgium are postcard-picture perfect. Part of the Dutch speaking part of Belgium known as Flanders, Bruges is a medieval city replete with city walls, winding cobblestone streets, bustling town squares, and beautiful canals lined with homes that look like gingerbread cutouts. In the heart of it all find a gem in The Hotel Heritage, where old world refinement and luxury meet modern pampering and indulgence. The Heritage is a haven of comfort and style in this romantic city of canals and history. Recently The Hotel Heritage successfully completed a full renovation of its four suites, and has designed a new lounge, named Le Magnum. This new lounge is a bar concept located inside the 24-room hotel, with the ambience of a private club featuring elegant banquettes and a small library.

The hotel is beautiful and the staff does a wonderful job making your stay comfortable. The location is perfect. However, the rooms are a bit of a disappointment. While they are very nicely decorated, it just feels they missed every opportunity to make your stay more comfortable. The shower is old and very weak pressure. The bath products (shampoo, hair dryer, etc.) provided are average. The pillows are very weak. When you lay your head down it will immediately pass through the pillow and hit the bed on the other side. The bathroom is only operated by an automatic sensor. If you open the door in the middle of the night, bright white light floods the room and there isnt anything you can do about it. There are many things like this in the room that are poorly executed. On the contrary, the common spaces are expertly executed. The hotel could be great, but is not right now. We would stay elsewhere on our next trip.

What a fantastic hotel. Located within moments of the centre of Bruge, my room was beautifully appointed and the staff made me feel like a valued customer, addressing me by my name from the moment I walked in the door. The consistent high service was exceptional and there were so many lovely touches in the room - a welcome note, fruit bowl, snacks, decent coffee machine, beds turned down and chocolates left each evening. A well stocked mini bar (extra charge) and a good room service menu along with valet parking and they even took my luggage up to my room. I have stayed in another highly rated hotel in Bruge and whilst the rooms are smaller here, I will choose to return because of the brilliant location, lovely touches and amazing staff.
