There are better hotels to choose from!

While our room was nice and big and the location was good, the service and food were not. The bell desk is rarely manned. No help with our luggage when we arrived. When we stored our luggage for a few hours on our last day, they couldn’t find it when we came back to pick it up. After searching a third room, it was luckily found. Upon check in we were advised we had been upgraded and there was a welcome amenity waiting for us in our room and if not, it would be delivered shortly. The gentleman at the desk was nice and helpful but he was about the only one in this hotel that was friendly and accommodating. When we called down that evening to advise we still had not received it, we were told they would check and call us back. Never heard a word from them. Asked again after breakfast the next morning, said they would let us know. Once again, no call back. That afternoon when we returned to the hotel and asked a third time, we were told the welcome amenity was the water (which was never replaced) and the coffee and tea in the room. Wow, every other hotel has that as standard in their rooms, even the less expensive ones! The was no follow through from any of the staff without us having to repeatedly ask. Breakfast was tasty but food and drinks in the bar very inconsistent. The bar was the only place you could get food after breakfast. Service in the bar was nonexistent and rather rude. When I pointed out to the manager that my Caesar salad was not fresh at all, he insisted it was. He later brought one from the kitchen to show me how fresh they were, however, it looked nothing like the soggy, brown, wilted lettuce one that they served me and I told him so. He continued to argue with me that I was wrong. My $16 glass of Sancerre was such a small pour I thought he was giving me a tasting of it to try. The Negroni the first night was very good, second night terrible. Same with the crispy shrimp, good the first night, definitely not crispy and not good the second night. The cauliflower soup was actually delicious but the rest of the food and drink were awful and the bill was 100 euros (2 drinks, 1 soup, 1 salad, 1 appetizer.) I would not stay/eat at this hotel again, there are many better choices. Service, hospitality, and genuine pleasure were severely lacking at this hotel.

Beautiful hotel but room service and food at breakfast is not the best

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

We are staying here prior to going on a river cruise with Viking. This hotel is beautiful. Location is pretty nice. The rooms are very high-end. But why I rated it so low because the breakfast in the morning is terrible. They have a buffet, but the bacon is not cooked, I asked two or three times for a couple things. No one can speak English. I just gave up asking. Then I called room service two times to just get some ice and it took me to call the manager who wasn’t in to finally get my ice. These are just little things that make a hotel is a service. The sweet girl that cleans our room was so sweet and kind and the front desk check was really nice, but as far as the food service, it’s the one.

Great location, lovely rooms, service hit and miss

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Lovely hotel with wonderful rooms and some friendly staff but some of the 5 star service needs focus especially in the restaurant and bar. Food is good and kids loved the pancakes, pastries, smoothies and waffles. Great location, lovely rooms, toiletries, and nice breakfast but with no pool access for the kids and €35 charge for adults to use the pool….we probably will not return. Pity.

Stay at Steigenberger Wiltchers, Brussels

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Beautiful old world hotel, but with modern amenities. We had two connecting rooms. One room was nicely warmed but mine was a bit drafty and took awhile to get a little warm. Rooms were clean and equipped with coffee makers, fridge with minibar (careful not to move anything or get charged!) The onsite restaurant Loui was nice. Food was delicious, ambiance had warm woods, some comfy chairs, servers friendly. Although we didn't use it, the tram is right in front of the hotel. If you like designer shopping, this avenue is well known for those shops

Terrible food

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

The worst food I’ve had in a hotel in the last ten years . Simply inedible. Terrible service in the restaurant. Customers are taken for granted. The waiters have no capacity to handle even when the restaurant or bar is half empty. The management seems to be sleeping. Also waiter’s behavior almost borders on being rude .
