While this hotel is nice in terms of decor, staff/service and location, we were very disappointed that children are not allowed to use the swimming pool at all - not at any hour of the day. Strange to see this type of rule in place, which blatantly excludes children, in this day and age - it didn’t even occur to us that we should double check pool access rules, but sure enough it was written in the small print. My 6 year old was really upset over it and while we made a complaint to staff on this there was no budging on it. In addition, there are many split levels both in bedrooms and across common areas of the hotel, which makes it difficult to get around with a buggy (and wheelchair too, I’d imagine). On the plus side, breakfast was very nice and the staff were lovely. Unfortunately we won’t return as it’s just not a good place to travel with small children.

This is such a grand hotel! It is beautiful inside and out. It’s located in an area close to luxury shops and a train/tram is nearby. The rooms was really large, much bigger than any that we had in all of Europe so far and so was the bathroom! It had a hot tub and a shower. I did not find the staff exceptionally friendly or helpful, but they were kind and attentive. We visited the bar and they have amazing cocktails too! We didn’t get a chance to try the food. I don’t have any complaints about the hotel.

Our 2-night stay at Steigenberger was very enjoyable. We had planned to visit friends in Brussels and are glad we chose this hotel, even though we had considered The Hotel as well. The warm welcome, the cleanliness of the room, the delicious & copious breakfast, and the hotel’s great location were the highlights of our stay. A big thank you to the entire team for their excellent service. We will definitely return on our next visit to Brussels.

Beautiful hotel, beautiful room, buffet, and experience. Our room was larger than most of the standard size we select at hotels. We opted to use the pool/sauna/jacuzzi downstairs which was very luxurious with the cold weather of Brussels in January. This hotel could not be more welcoming and friendly. It’s a gorgeous hotel on a very fancy street with tons of shopping. It’s a lovely place to stay.

While our room was nice and big and the location was good, the service and food were not. The bell desk is rarely manned. No help with our luggage when we arrived. When we stored our luggage for a few hours on our last day, they couldn’t find it when we came back to pick it up. After searching a third room, it was luckily found. Upon check in we were advised we had been upgraded and there was a welcome amenity waiting for us in our room and if not, it would be delivered shortly. The gentleman at the desk was nice and helpful but he was about the only one in this hotel that was friendly and accommodating. When we called down that evening to advise we still had not received it, we were told they would check and call us back. Never heard a word from them. Asked again after breakfast the next morning, said they would let us know. Once again, no call back. That afternoon when we returned to the hotel and asked a third time, we were told the welcome amenity was the water (which was never replaced) and the coffee and tea in the room. Wow, every other hotel has that as standard in their rooms, even the less expensive ones! The was no follow through from any of the staff without us having to repeatedly ask. Breakfast was tasty but food and drinks in the bar very inconsistent. The bar was the only place you could get food after breakfast. Service in the bar was nonexistent and rather rude. When I pointed out to the manager that my Caesar salad was not fresh at all, he insisted it was. He later brought one from the kitchen to show me how fresh they were, however, it looked nothing like the soggy, brown, wilted lettuce one that they served me and I told him so. He continued to argue with me that I was wrong. My $16 glass of Sancerre was such a small pour I thought he was giving me a tasting of it to try. The Negroni the first night was very good, second night terrible. Same with the crispy shrimp, good the first night, definitely not crispy and not good the second night. The cauliflower soup was actually delicious but the rest of the food and drink were awful and the bill was 100 euros (2 drinks, 1 soup, 1 salad, 1 appetizer.) I would not stay/eat at this hotel again, there are many better choices. Service, hospitality, and genuine pleasure were severely lacking at this hotel.
