Terrible food

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

The worst food I’ve had in a hotel in the last ten years . Simply inedible. Terrible service in the restaurant. Customers are taken for granted. The waiters have no capacity to handle even when the restaurant or bar is half empty. The management seems to be sleeping. Also waiter’s behavior almost borders on being rude .

Big disappointment

I booked this hotel to celebrate my husband's 65th birthday after having experienced an excellent stay at the Steigenberger in Vienna. I requested a quiet room with walk-in shower and a bottle of prosecco to be in the room upon arrival. When we checked in there was no bottle and some 20 mins later someone came along and slung a Happy Birthday banner across the bed. It was only after the 3rd time of asking (some 3 hours later) did the bottle of fizz turn up. The library is closed but everyone still sits in it, which does not provide a welcoming atmosphere in Reception. The restaurant is no longer open and I find it shocking that a hotel of this standard has nowhere else to eat other than the bar. The buffet breakfast is varied and good, but no-one explained that there were other items available from the kitchen. One morning the waiter was on his first shift and obviously had had no training and should not have been let loose without someone to oversee his work. The whole place did seem to be in turmoil due to a large conference and the presence of an Emir. We enquired about swimming and were told that we would have to pre-book a slot, but they were running a special promo this month and so there was no charge - I wouldn't expect to pay extra for this facility. All in all the management of this hotel seems very haphazard with very little attention to detail. The staff are pleasant, but don't do more than absolutely necessary and even fail in some of the most basic tasks, such as providing prosecco in the room. It certainly needs to improve considerably to be as good as the Vienna sister hotel. It's a shame that it did not live up to our expectations and somewhat marred my husband's birthday celebrations.

The rooms were not ready by 3pm as promised. One of the rooms did not have hot water for the entire stay. It turned out the hotel staff knew there was a hot water issue and did not tell us or other customers. The reception desk did not pick up our calls for over 15 minutes and we had to walk down to the lobby to talk to the staff and report the hot water issue in the evening. Room service brought food to our room and included dirty forks/knives/ spoons. The concierge/car staff momentarily lost the keys to our car and then suggested my wife was lying and never gave them the keys to start after check out and when we were ready to leave. This was a nightmare stay with very poor service and some staff either lying to us or treating us poorly.

Full of lies

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

Had a very bad experience with this hotel . I didn't expect the people at the reception of this hotel were liars. They were unaware of the hotel policies . They misguided us throughout. Later we were charged on false pretences. They are scared of feedbacks and now I feel that they are just old and non chalant about what service they provide. I would never recommend a hotel so full of lies.

Excellent hotel in every respect, very friendly and helpful staff, thank you! Special thanks to Patrik the Concierge! The room exceeded expectations, it's really comfortable. Location is also very convenient and quiet at the same time.
