Reviews for Hotel Casa Lucia

Overpriced Pretend

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

I would say the staff is very poorly trained and rude, with the exception of Kevin, the reservation manager. He is exempt from the criticism I give. The hotel is old and tired. Our first stay gave us a superior room which was terrible. The carpet was dirty and the rest not much better. Our return we had a Jr. Suite. It was on a higher floor, but not much different except for the size. The shower is impossible. I could barely turn around. If I had dropped something, I couldn't have retrieved it. The food in the restaurant is appalling. The bacon is greasy and raw. There is no one to attend to cooking anything. The fruit was not edible, except for that that wasn't peeled. There are pastries mainly and sweets. The bread was tired and heavy. It was impossible to get service, let alone coffee or tea. There was only one woman that would acknowledge us. The spa isn't efficient. We both felt the masseuses weren't trained properly. Mine used her fingers and when I took a shower, noticed bruises along my arms and legs from her fingers. My husband felt the same. It wasn't comfortable either and very expensive, which shocked me. I was very ill, and Kevin did extend a late check out until 3:00. That was when we paid for the Jr. Suite. We had to wait until 6:30 in the lobby. It was awkward. It is also on a one-way street. We had dinner reservations and hired an Uber. There were two HUGE tour buses blocking the road. They shouldn't have been there as there isn't room. We waited for over 1/2 hour and finally got out and hired a cab.

Well located and very comfortable

We stayed here for 5 nights and received an upgrade to a Junior Suite which was lovely. The room was large and very well appointed. The hotel is located in a very quiet street in an upmarket area. Lots of cafes and restaurants within an easy walk. We had breakfast at the hotel every day - an excellent buffet + a small menu cooked to order. Staff mostly very friendly. We had dinner here as well - steak, of course - very nice. A small matter - because we were checking out early the next morning - around 7am - the day before we asked if it would be possible to have a simple packup breakfast - "no". As we were waiting for our transfer to the airport, the breakfast buffet was almost set up yet we were chastised for taking a few items to eat while we waited.

Quiet and upscale—but poor service and unwelcoming to non-Spanish speakers

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Located on a side street away from downtown but walking distance to a variety of shops and restaurants. Nice lobby but not much seating. Room was clean and comfortable. Downside—extremely poor service at bar/tapas restaurant and food was so-so. Not very hospitable to non-Spanish speaking guests. But did provide umbrellas for getting out on a rainy day.

Well below expectations

Very average experience for a supposedly 5 star hotel. No USB charging points in room, asked reception for an adaptor, they had none told to go to a store 2 blocks down the road. Asked to change USD to local currency, we don't change money go to an ATM As my phonevwouldnt charge asked for an early morning call. A call was not received The room is OK, but shower is made for very small people, not a good shower at all. Recommend look else where.

outstanding hospitality

my husband and I agree that this is the best new hotel with the best service we have ever experienced anywhere in the world. the check-in process was perfect and efficient. our room, was spacious and beautiful. Agustina prepared many thoughtful details in our room. the Casa Lucía Spritz cocktail in loobybar is a classic! we had a late flight back to the US, so we were able to use the spa to change and freshen up after a long day of sightseeing. the hotel management must be outstanding because EVERY employee treats you like an honored guest.
