Montage Los Cabos

We had an amazing stay at the Montage Los Cabos. The staff and service were impeccable; the professionalism and attention to detail were outstanding! each of the three restaurants were delicious in their own right and the spa was a peaceful, relaxing oasis! Can't say enough wonderful things about this beautiful resort! It was paradise in every respect.

beautiful resort, but beware during high season. lots of kinks.

I never write reviews mostly because I'm a busy professional who doesn't have time to do so, but I felt that this one was important enough to get out there. I booked two rooms during the week of New Year's this year. I did research regarding higher end resorts in the Cabo area that had swimmable beaches (of which there are few). We have stayed at a few Montage resorts in the past (original SoCal, Kapalua) and their sister Pendry properties and like the general style and vibe of the Montages so I feel like I had a good grasp of what I would expect. To make this easier, here are the plusses and minuses. Positives: - Immaculate property (beautiful and modern) with a nice location between the airport and Cabo - Swimmable beach with ability to check out paddleboards - Great views - Beautiful rooms - Friendly staff - Excellent food Cons (this will be lengthier): - Inability to walk-in to restaurants for meals - Inability to get pool chairs - Inability to get beach chairs - Inability to get a walk-on tee time for golf for one person - Charging $50/hour for a tennis court when the rooms well over $1000 a night. - Poor communication prior to our stay - Poor value because of the above To elaborate, we rented two rooms for 10's of thousands of dollars. We expected to have a very nice high-end vacation as such. When we got there and asked if we could eat at one of their on-site restaurants, we were told that there were no slots available because it is high season. They do not have walk-up slots for guests I guess. This was the explanation for the pool as well. My wife took my son to the pool around 11am and despite the pool chairs not being used, the staff said that they were reserved. She then went to the beach and the same thing there. I explained that their policies essentially relegated us to staying in the room during our stay. Basically, the reason give was that it was high season. To that, I replied that I have kids so I'm always going during high season and that if they know that it is high season, they should either get more chairs, or let the customers know that they need to get up at a certain time to "reserve" their chairs. The staff should also let customers know in communication prior to coming that reservations are either highly encouraged (or mandatory) during that season. With respect to golf, I was informed that I had to schedule that well ahead of time as well. I belong to a private club, and I know that there are plenty of slots for single golfers to be paired with others. It was explained to me that the club is separate from the resort and therefore it is subject to their rules and there is no flexibility there. To that I replied that I don't think it should be on their website if it is not a real amenity. And lastly, the tennis charges are a nickel and dime considering the cost of the rooms. Tip: just make the rooms a little more expensive and make that "free" like every other hotel in the world. I discussed the above with the very nice GM Mario who gave us a beach spot for a few days of the remaining stay, but it was overall a pretty sour experience for us and diminished the Montage brand in our eyes. We have stayed at one other property Las Ventanas which was great (but no swimmable beach). We may also try Chileno Bay Auberge in the future or One and Only. So unless we knew that they got their act together especially during "high season," then we will not return to this hotel.

Second to none!

Hands down the nicest, cleanest most beautiful resort I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. The staffs attention to detail and hospitality was second to none. I can’t brag on this location or their staff enough. Can’t wait to return. Amazing place! You would be doing yourself an injustice were you to stay anywhere else!

The Montage was amazing! I will return.

The Montage is a luxury resort with impeccable service. The rooms are clean and very comfortable. The staff treated us like royalty. We were able to text our host with any requests which made our stay very enjoyable. The restaurants are pricey, yet the food is amazing. The beach access is the best! The pools and pool service is wonderful. We were there to celebrate our birthdays and they acknowledged our birthdays more than once! It was a very special trip!

Pampered stay

Staff were excellent, very attentive and did not have to look for staff to get another item - they were on top of it every day. Food at Mezcal was excellent. The special mezcal margheritas at the beach were the icing on the cake for a relaxing stay.
